Might I also recommend James Gurney? He does a lot of urban gouache paintings, mostly of places in small towns in North America. Abandoned houses, bits of backwoods, puppet workshops, supermarkets, those sorts of things.
Oh I'm a huge fan of James Gurney!! I LOVE his youtube channel. I thought he was such a big name everyone follows him so perhaps was not worth including in this particular video. Great choice though :)
I love artists supporting other artists. Thank you for this list ❤️
You are so welcome Adrian! Thanks for your comment.
AlienBinBin...that stuff is incredible! I just found out they responded to someone and said "Hello, I use pentel technology brush coloring, needle pen, thank you".
Hi there, Thanks for including me & apologies for only just noticing this. In answer to your questions, I do go straight into the sketch without mapping anything out & yes they are Posca acrylic pens, normally a fine 0.7 nib. Thanks again for including me on this, much appreciated & a great post ; )
Going through all their pages, I feel so inadequate. I would be embarrassed if someone followed me! Wow. Great artists!
I’m new to urban sketching and it seems like I love all styles colorful ,loos , very detailed and realistic to wonder how people choose a style 🤔🤔🤔
That was fantastic, thank you! I’m always on the lookout for great artists to follow. Phil Dean’s book got me into urban sketching, and I can’t wait for the weather to get better so I can continue with his exercises. I’ll definitely check up the other sketchers who are new to me.
That's awesome Brigitte - glad you enjoyed! Phil Dean is a legend :)
dong ho kim and don colley its my favorite urban sketch
I love your videos ,thanks for sharing these amazing artists 😊
Amazing artists !!! Thank you !
You're welcome, thanks for watching!
Thank you for the video. I’m glad I found your channel!
Love the variety of the list
Wow thank you for the recommendations!
You're so welcome!
You, Phil Dean and James Gurney are my favs
Aw that's awesome!! Thanks for watching :)
Thanks for sharing this. So much inspiration 🤩🙏🏻
Really enjoyed this and you are lovely to listen to! Thank you.
Thank you 🙏 just signed up for Maru’s course ❤️
Ah that’s awesome! Enjoy it 😊🙏 I’m looking forward to getting my gouache paints out and experimenting
Thank you for once again providing interesting , information 🙏♥️🙌
You are very welcome! Thanks for watching :)
Wow! Apart from Santi I had not seen any of these artists! Thanks! 🥰😘😍
Ah excellent! Fresh eye candy :)
Caran D’Ache do gouache tins with the gouache in cake form like watercolours. I have the larger set and really like it. The tin itself is quite large, not like a compact little size you can put in your pocket, but the cakes make it much easier and quicker to use than tubes and you could definitely take it out and about with you. I got mine from Amazon because it was much cheaper than buying it in a shop. WHSmith (UK) sells them but at almost double the price of Amazon at the time I bought mine.
I do find WHSmith are always waaaaay overpriced! I wondered about gouache in pan/cake form and how effective it is....I may have to try some out, thanks for the advice!
I really enjoyed your video!
Awesome thanks for sharing loved it! 👍👍🇨🇦
Thanks 👍
I found a video of Alienbinbin sketching. It’s on IGTV 😃. Go to your instagram - go to alienbinbin - tap the middle icon with the tv just above the photos.
Thank you!
Such diversity in these artistic styles and mediums. Really inspiring, and as you say, 'eye candy' that will make me follow these artists for sure.
I'd only heard of Shoreditch Sketcher (who is super talented). And, I really love AlienBinBin's distorted perspective style... It looks fun to sketch and attractive, though I reckon it's a hard style to master. I know there's a proper name for it, but it escapes me. Now, that would be a fun experimental video, to give that distorted perspective a trial, warts n all. And, I'm sure most of us love wonky lines and wonky perspective and appreciate it's hard enough to manage a decent normal perspective sketch let alone trying that style. That said, the well known sketchers often say they don't think too hard about perspective and I guess that's because they've gotten the need to be perfect out of their systems and enjoy creative freedom far more... and found their own style in the process. Still, I love warped perspective in urban Sketching. It's now on my 'experiment list'
Thanks for putting these Sketchers on our radar. You really did give us the cream here. Especially noting how the ordinary can become extraordinary (much why I love magical realism writers like Gabriel Garcia Marquez). Because, the ordinary is miraculous...
👍👍Fab video and saved to watch again.
Thanks Wen! Yeh I really want to give the exaggerated perspective some practice. I'm glad I could present some new names here. I LOVE magical realism too. Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Isabel Allende are 2 of my faves :) Thanks for watching and your awesome comments as always!
@@tarias_sketchy_adventures We have good taste 😁
Great video! I followed some of these already but it was worth visiting them again since I hadn't seen any of their work in a while, like AlienBinBin, WOW! So good, I also learned a few new ones from this video, so thank you! Such inspiring work.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I really enjoyed watching this. Great works by some very talented individuals. Makes me want to try some different ways of ssketching around town. I may also want to try other mediums. I do watercolor and colored pencils now. Markers may well be a new option. Thank you for this.
You should! I am so so keen to start trying different mediums much more
Taria, I love this series!! Thanks for sharing great artists. Could you make a video on the sketchbook spread? If not here, then on Patreon. I always struggle with it and I haven't seen many artists talk about it here on RUclips. Thanks a bunch for the great content!
Yes I shall indeed! Thanks for the suggestion :)
Thank you very much.
Again, so useful especially to a gawping newbie.
Glad it was helpful!
I really love the phil dean sketches. Im going to have to join instagram lol
Great vlog. De russian lady uses an Hahnemuhle sketchbook, not a Moleskine. Well, that is my guess because she tags Hahnemuhle, but no mention about Moleskine.
I recommend Paul Madonna’s work! He has some amazing drawings of San Francisco and his values are beautiful
Thank you for sharing such an amazing artists. It’s great to see other urban sketchers styles from around the world. ❤️
You're so welcome, thanks so much for checking out the video!
Woo~it's incredible 😊👍💕!

Hiya,
Really interested in that course that you mention called (something like) Gouche like a child..
I can only find reference to that artists main program...
Would you mind pointing me in the right direction...
Xx
Cool! I love this! Can you do a video on RUclips creators?
Glad you enjoyed!! So do you mean like RUclips artists to follow....?
alienbinbin is a Boy 杨国斌(yang guobin) u R right he is a mystery
Nadya's hashtags say Hahnemuehle, which is a German paper brand. So it's not the moleskine.
Ah ok, well spotted! I use Hahnemuhle sketchbooks too, love them :)
Who are you? What is your name? I want to ask my library, the Toronto Public Library, to purchase your ebook. I have a title, but no author name. Thank you.
Hi Jane, my name is Taria, I run a website called urbansketchingworld.com - I am afraid the ebook won't be available at the library. It has not been formally published, it is something I have self-published to the internet. The only place you can currently get it is here: urbansketchingworld.podia.com/sketchy-adventures-around-the-world-ebook - I hope that helps.
Hello! Just a random commenter! What is actually "urban sketching"....I know artists like Kim Jung Gi, how different or similar it is to what he draws? Thanks!
Nice video, but you say 'uhmmm....' a lot.
I know, I’m so sorry. Something I’m really trying to work on / edit out if I can
I think this only bothers some people and I am not one of them. 😉
@@ChrissieNicely Thank you - I am aware of the problem. I think over time I will get better :) Thanks for your support though!
@@tarias_sketchy_adventures Sorry, and I know how it is because I do voice-overs, my point was, that it is not a problem to most people watching, I feel. ;-) When watching your videos I focus on the content - not the ummms.... lol
@@ChrissieNicely Thank you :)
