The Huge General Electric GE9X Jet Engine In Action at Farnborough Airport

It was great to see and hear the enormous new GE9X jet engine at Farnborough Airport, this video zooms in on the engine, during the Boeing 777X flying demonstration

GE9X is a monster. It has a 9.9:1 Bypass Ratio and a Takeoff thrust of 110,000kgf and thrust to weight ratio of 5:2. General Electric is such a marvel of a company on making Jet Engines.

am i the only one thinking that this is overkill for the 777? I get that the 777X is bigger than 300ER but man...these two engines combined are crazy

It isn’t overkill if you loose and engine for whatever reason and have to rely on only one, 777X is designed to have these engines so it isn’t overkill 😁Plus, with more powerful engines you don’t have to use full thrust, etc and so on so it doesn’t waste as much fuel, can go faster, higher, and other things. More powerful engines are always better

@@nathanbedford3443 They are more powerful. The data youre looking at is outdated. In the newer tests, the GE9X reached 135,000 lbs of thrust as compared to the GE90-115B's 127,900
