For NFC payment like you did, it's generally the right thing to hold the camera thingy of your phone against the NFC payment symbol of the payment display. NFC is really short distance, and the antenna in your phone is right next to the camera.
The nfc radio is on the backside of the phone not the front so you’re close… you should just hold your phone normally.
Too bad if the driver isn't inside the vehicle; what they need is a detachable floor can lift and move the vehicle out of the way for the next person to drive in and charge.
Can’t wait till more of these make their way around the states and globally!
They wont
Its PR
The revenue from Electricity is not high enough to support fancy Stations
The Power Grids in all Western countries are not strong & large enough to support aas many Stations as would be need if everyone drove a EV.
You would need more than we have Gas Stations right now.
It just has too many Problems.
EVs just serve to drive Electricity Prices up. They will never replace some 100.000mio cars on the Road + all Trucks
We have Electiric Train for 100s of Years and they sill have not replaced Diesel Trains.
Mercedes is definitely going 'high end' with its charging facilities. I really like the luxury of these 'stations' - especially the cleanliness. Okay, it costs a tad more to charge but so worth it.
NICE! I really like the SOC display on the chargers. ALL charging stations should have solar canopies, IMHO. You're fortunate to have a CCS adapter; I _STILL_ can't get one. Grrrr. That other owner's Model 3 must be a more recent version, so he didn't need a retrofit to use it -unlike mine. Double grrr.
The solar will just about power the lights and lounge. I doubt much of the electric will go into the cars.
I've only used the non-Tesla charging stations two times. Both times were just for testing and both were a major pain in the *** to be honest, but they did work super slowly. My NACS to J1772 converter from Tesla worked perfectly fine.
As someone who does 1000miles per week in a Tesla I can tell you it's not about charging speed, it's not about car speed (though that's very cool), it's not about the look ... its about FSD!
Being able to have your car drive for you is just amazing.... And it may be that all other car makes might not have it for many years to come as Tesla is years and years ahead of anyone else.
So choose wisely and don't have buyers remorse.
Even then most cars can't even take all that wattage. It would be stepped down by the car
Kim another great video, which is so well done as you are a natural communicator. As a Tesla owner, I charge at home however, Mercedes should give some sort of reward or credit to Tesla owners to try to get them to consider buying a Mercedes EV .
Complimentarily informative.
Kyle Conner from "Out of Spec" recently (also) introduced/ profiled this Mercedes-Benz advanced charger.
Very informative and entertaining. I’ve often wondered (to myself) why doesn’t Tesla or Mercedes Benz buy a nation wide facility like WaWa (gas station / food stop) and convert them into Solar Charging Stations (not getting rid of the gas part fully). Thanks for your hard work Kim.
The facilities look good as well as the solar roof.
Wawa isn’t nationwide. I travel half the country and I’ve never seen one. (I do get the sentiment though). Here it would be Stinker or Maverick, but neither is a restaurant.
Unfortunately you cannot easily convert a gas station to charging EVs! Alot of gas stations takes very small land and can supply everything from bikes to bus, trucks, semis even agriculture machines…..
@@carholic-sz3qv places like truck stops and Buc-ees have plenty of land and are adding EV charging. Existing parking spots become charging spots.
@@brendykes1202 that might be the case in some US locations but in Europe and everywhere else there is not a lot of space and gas stations are significantly way more polyvalent because they also offers services like vaccum cleaning, air, LPG….
Imagine paying 50 cents per kwh for MB electricity when you can buy a Tesla for half the price of a MB, pay 35 cents per kwh, just plug in the cable, and it works? LOL
But Mercedes is "Luxury" electricity, whereas Tesla only sells "Premium" electricity.
@@andrewdiamond2697 I thought Tesla sold Performance or Plaid electrons. So much faster than MB.
@@aerodyneservices Yes, Tesla has fastest electrons, but not a sumptuous, buttery soft, nor wrapped in luxury materials like the Benz electrons.
🤣@@andrewdiamond2697
I watch the sponsor stuff just to hear you talk .. you’re so awesome, love your whole family. Be safe out there this holiday season on your travels.
$250 for the adapter and .50/kwh. I’ll stick with supercharhing
Tesla needs to step up their game 😂 that’s an awesome experience! Thank you for the awesome content!
thanks for tuning in. More to come this week from Austin!
@@ItsKimJava can’t wait!!! ☺️
It won't be awesome once the homeless people show up
@@cyclopsvision6370 sad truth, I would not mind paying a few extra cents per kWh to have a police officer watching over the place though.
$0.50 per KW/h ? Nah that’s wild!!
I am moving to Atlanta next month so thanks for letting us know about this location. Might be interesting to see since I have the charging adapter.
There should be ads on the screen for all applicable adapters. Ad revenue and needed service for users.
If MB is going to reserve charging stalls for MB owners, and give MB owners priority, Tesla can do the same thing, and block out non Tesla vehicles. Turn about, fair play.
Thanks for showing us Mercedes is actually initiating its own charger network. The upscale look may motivate Tesla to go upscale in the US more. Mercedes is supposed to convert to NACS like most companies selling cars in the US. I wonder how their charging stations are going to accommodate NACS plugs.
Excellent! Love the bathrooms
Kim thank you, very informative 😊 No disrespect, you look exceptionally beautiful in your video 👍🏼 Keep up the great work.
Fall colors!
Simp
What a beautiful facility. Thanks for sharing.
Let me know when they’ve installed their 2500th one
I live in sandy springs around the corner from that Mercedes I never knew that was a charging station 😅
It is slower because you're using and ADAPTER and adapters will surely always cap at lower amperage
Never happen at Electrify America.
Great to see Mercedes, and others, take charging stations serious.
Great video and very informative, thanks sharing the experience!
I strongly recommend you buying the DC charging adapter. It is a life saver (sometimes).
Fwiw, in Europe things went into the other direction many years ago. Tesla adopted the CCS standard and is now fully compatible with all HPCs. We have many local offers from electricity companies and some nationwide networks that cooperate. Tesla made a wise decision and retrofitted all V2 stalls to CCS, and all V3 were CCS from the start. M3/Y were CCS from day 1.
I only just found time to watch this, very neat! Hopefully we see lots more locations like this.
You should do a review of your Model X after several miles - how is it holding up, do you like the Yoke, what about seat configuration, and so on, please 🤞🏾🙏💚
So you need an adapter, it's heavier, with less stalls available. More expensive to charge, and no notifications for state of charge. Not sounding good to me.
K J, was there.over the weekend to check it out with my new VW ID4. Its very nice place but high end. Thanks for all you do. 🎉
Well done and interesting video. Looking forward to hearing details from your Austin CT trip!
An Electric "gas" station! That is pretty cool!
KJ I just today ( november 27,2023) visited a Cybertruck in the show room in Langley, British Columbia, Canada . people were lined up to get into the showroom just to take pictures . I had all the spppecifications with me so i was very popular as everyone wanted to know interior height, towing capacity, etc. No pricing is available. Thrusday is going to be awesome
Wow, classy. Tesla should learn from this.
If I owned gas stations in the US, I’d have one of these charging facilities at every one. I’d sell both gas and electricity, plus the odd cup of overpriced coffee. If you can’t beat 'em, join 'em.
The challenge is having enough space. In Germany, one fuel brand made a bold decision and sold their network of gas stations, to focus on the new business case.
The ford lightning gets about about 2 miles per kw. That means that a dollar gets you 4 miles or you would be paying 5.50 a gallon for the ice equivalent f150 power boost (getting 25mpg). So electric vehicles waste your money and time by forcing you to wait around for your car to charge. Charging at those speeds also does serious damage to your battery.
Also i have a business integrating solar and wind power into sailing yachts. Those solar panels pretty much do nothing when considering the electrical demand placed on the grid with just one car charging at 300 kw
Wow, thanks for that update. I can't wait until Tesla rolls out retro fitting for earlier gen model 3's and ccs adapter hardware so I could use the adapter!
Awesome review of the Mercedes Benz public charging station! 😮
Makes me want a Benz
What about the bounce mode 😅
The problem in Georgia is being charged per minute instead of per kW.
I was getting charged 50 cents a minute in Elijay, GA for 55kWh max speed.
Non-Manufacturer (Tesla) CCS adaptors are against the terms of service of most charging networks. I would advise against them since there doesn't seem to be any reliable way to know if they have necessary built-in safety precautions. The last thing we'd want is a cable or adaptor melting or worse to save a few bucks on the adapter.
Great job Mercedes! 👏🏽
Excellent, thank you for always keeping us informed
Like always ❤❤❤From Norway
50c and the hassle with the CCS... No Thanks 🙃
Fantastic vid! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Glad you enjoyed it!
Its like Apple Store
Fancy neu Design look to draw people in.
They will probably never break even with these Stations
So we will never see them in everywere.
Its just PR to sell cars.
ChargePoint?!? lol…okay. You said enough. There is nothing as reliable as Tesla Supercharging Stations, sorry.
With all due respect, have you not used Apple Pay before?
I do daily, but when I have a ChargePoint account in my Apple wallet…
@@ItsKimJava fyi when using Apple wallet you are supposed to touch the reader with the top back of the phone.
@@ItsKimJavaOkay…. I was just trying to figure out why you held your phone incorrectly then complained and said that Tesla’s way is much simpler (which I’m not doubting) but if you held your phone like you’re paying for something it would’ve went through much smoother….
50c/KWh, Damn
Just for the new owners, our home charger is 8 yes 8 years old and it charges at 80 Amps. The home wall charger is connected to 100 Amp circuit. Tesla started from the beginning way ahead of what's only just starting to catchup.
I think I won’t be using third party networks at that price any time soon. I can get super charging for as low as $0.10 per kWh. I do see on PlugShare there is a dealership with CCS DC at 50kW max for free and a chargepoint DCFC at $3 per hour at 62kW max. Maybe I can give those a try if I can get a CCS adapter.
Only thing I’m worried about is if relying on superchargers only will have a negative impact on my LFP RWD Model 3. My apartment complex can give me access to a plug only if I rent a garage for $175 per month.
Are these available for Mercedes diesels?
Huh?
Whoa, don't tell people there's cheaper charging adapters on the Amazon. All the major networks only allow you to use manufacturer supplied adapters.
If we can replicate this charging station with basic services with a roof of solar panels as many times as needed, that's it.
Grin, like nothing I've seen before. Maybe because it's the only one, but I'll wait 4 years to see how it goes.
Turn your phone around when using nfc.
Good thing I’m close to it
That's where the future the money is. Create a nice restaurant and people will come
Tesla will now tell you on your way to the charger how congested it will be--not necessarily for any given car's state of charge, but that doesn't matter with the 250kw chargers--you only need to know how busy the station is overall.
Did you ask those Tesla drivers that showed up how they were directed there?
Just 49999 more to catch up with Tesla
this outfit is so cool
you put the wrong side of the phone to pay. nfc antenna is in the back of the phone.
Wait… is this the one off Johnson’s Ferry rd where the Mercedes dealership is at? I work at UPS and I think our HQ is right down the street.
Yes
Nice charging station but at 50 cents that’s more expensive than a gas powered vehicle
“More in the higher end”….more like double of the price….
...exactly ONLY. $(;&@ that's expensive...especially since solar (free)
Can't trust a chargepoint
Very nice!
Home charger with up to 37 miles per hour….how about pay nothing for a home charger and get 31 miles per hour. Sounds like bad consumer advice…
Rich B. should be jealous of your segways....
No one cares the $.50/kwh price tag 😂
Probably free charging with the mb for 3yrs target customer
.50/kwh seams excessive
Charging lounges
Kiiim 😃
you're quick!

Nice looking blondes in the lounge
"This is Atlanta, I don't trust people".... do u not trust people or don't trust people in Atlanta?
If you're not familiar with the US, Atlanta is "rough." Especially after dark.
she is saying she doesn’t trust people in atlanta. which is completely reasonable and valid.
There's a lot of black people in Atlanta so women are generally a bit more scared to be there
This was a great video
Glad you enjoyed it
