Best Spaghetti Squash Made Easy Ingredients
1 SPAGHETTI SQUASH
GARLIC (5-10 cloves, finely chopped)
LEMON zest and juice
BUTTER (1-2 Tbsp)
OLIVE OIL (¼ cup)
PARSLEY (½ cup, chopped)
SALT and PEPPER to taste
The measurements above are just loose suggestions, and really need to be adjusted to your own tastes. The size of
the spaghetti squash and how much squash you dig out will determine how much of the other ingredients you need;
They are simple and fresh ingredients, so there really is no wrong way to make this dish.
The best spaghetti squash doesn't get more super simple than that!
Best Spaghetti Squash ...super simple, low fat, low carb recipe
When buying a spaghetti squash, choose one that seems heavy for its size.
carefully slice the squash into halves. Cut the squash across instead of lengthwise, this will make for longer "noodles".
Place cut sides down in shallow water in a roasting pan.
Bake for about 30-45 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit. You can check on the squash after 30 minutes; the cooking time will vary
according to the size of the squash.
It's important not to overcook the squash, slightly crunchy strands of squash add great texture to a dish, and overcooking the squash will
make the ingredient mushy.
Remove squash from the oven and carefully turn halves over to check for doneness --the water will be hot and steam will be trapped under
the squash, so be cautious.
Allow squash to sit 5-10 minutes to cool slightly for easier handling.
Insert a fork and twist out strands of "spaghetti". Once the fork has done its job, use a spoon to scrape out the remaining squash; it's edible
all the way to the rind,
so don't waste any!
Heat a skillet and melt cooking oil on medium heat.
Add finely chopped garlic and cook 1-2 minutes until it begins to color up. If you like a bit of heat with your dish, add some red pepper flakes
as well.
Add a bit of butter for extra flavor (this is optional).
Add the spaghetti squash to the skillet and mix with the garlic.
Add salt and pepper to taste, add lemon zest and juice, and stir.
Turn off the heat and add in a bit of dark, flavorful olive oil.
You can also stir in a bit of freshly grated Parmesan Cheese if desire, but this is optional.
Add fresh chopped parsley for bright flavor and color, and mix well.
And that's it.
This recipe makes a nice side dish or a very healthy entree.
Give this spaghetti squash recipe a try and let me know what you think, and bon appetit!
I'm older and have arthritis in my hands, making it impossible to cut a spaghetti squash. Thankfully, the boys in the produce department at my supermarket are so sweet to cut the squash before I take it to the checkout. God bless them.
Easy remedy for that. Take a knife and put a few slits in it for relieving pressure while cooking and then throw it in a pressure cooker whole....for 15-17min depending on the size. I had a smaller one and set it for 15min. Quick release the pressure.... take it out.... and then you cut it.... I was able to cut mine perfectly. ;-)
@@bamatina777 thank you
You can also try throwing it at a Samurai on the way home.
That's so cool of them.
If you have a pressure cooker use that. Just place holes in, (also pain issues) I used the back side of a clean hammer.
This man proves one thing with his cooking. Thats you dont have to have a high end kitchen setup like some of these tubers just to show how to cook good food. Im still amazed at his cauliflower pizza.
It's 2023 & I still come back to this video whenever I plan on making spaghetti Squash. I love the simplicity of this.
Same!!
Wow I've never seen the twirl method, brilliant!
we used to cut the squash lengthwise and scrape out, but cutting in half through the middle makes for longer, more pasta-like strands
seriously?
Liza W, I have also never Seen that twirl method I have been cutting. My spaghetti squash lengthwise all this time the twirl method was a real game changer
Me either. And I’ve been missing the hack of cutting it this way. I always have a near death experience trying to carve through it long ways 😂💀
@@bluexblondebaby "Near death experience", so true!!! 🙋♀️
“Tastes like vegetables... but not the bad vegetables” 😂😂😂
Great video!!! Can’t wait to try this 🙌🏽
I showed this to my granddaughter and she wanted to do it. And she did! It was sooo good. I took the leftovers and mixed with mashed potatoes. Tonight I'm gonna make fried tater/squash patties
Cayenne pepper, garlic powder, salt, pepper, butter, lemon. I saute garlic lemon shrimp and chicken and place it on top of the spaghetti with butter/oil and drippings from pan when i deglaze it.
Yep, that was my thought when I found some cut & cleaned squash sections marked down at the store this afternoon. Why not go all out for the first time making it?!
Oh lawd that sounds gooooood!
You get the "over achiever" award.
I like to make blackened salmon and serve it over spaghetti squash. Next time I’ll use this recipe. Go great with blackened salmon
I've never in my life eaten spaghetti squash, but you made this look like such fun I made it this evening and will eat it tomorrow for lunch with your egg salad dish, which I also made. It was absolutely fun to twirl those long strands onto a fork. I love your can-do attitude, sort of like Chef Gusteau in Ratatouille.
Marc Moshman. I have eaten it every summer since I can remember. its SUPER TASTY and easy to grow and cook!!! I LOVE IT!
It's really good. Bon apetit.
Marc Moshman always a first time!! Try it!!👌
A foodie friend of mine made it for me and now I'm hooked. 🤗
@@billblake6808 wish I could grow it here, but we have a horrible time with the squash vine borer. They don't leave me a single plant! Then I cry.
I made this tonight and love it! It will be my “go to” recipe when I have family (including a granddaughter with Type 1diabetes) over for spaghetti or am serving up a festive brunch. Thank you, Chef Buck!
The twirl tip for getting it out.....omg I wish I had known the first time I did this, because it took me like 20 minutes to harvest the squash "noodles" lol
Quick tips for pet owners: Cucurbit seeds are a natural dewormer. I throw a handful of those squash guts in my dog's food, she gobbles it up. I feed all the excess squash and pumpkins to the chickens and pigs for the same reason. No chemicals needed!
Love it... especially “no Music”🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️
I’ve never seen the flesh removed this way. Great technique and simple recipe. Thank you for sharing
"You could toast up these seeds if you wanted to; I ain't got that kind of ambition ..." I hear ya Chef Buck:)
I tried it your way last night and it was great! Baked it, then sauteed it in butter and garlic....delicious! Thanks so much!
glad you liked it--thanks for watching and giving the recipe a try
I tried this recipe just the way u did it and it was Absolutely delicious.Thanku so much for this. It was my first time ever in my life eating spaghetti Squash. And I'm glad when I finally decided to try some, I did it your way!! ✌👍👍up☝️!!
Lamarcia Knight Looking forward to trying it myself or should I say cooking it.
Meat sauce top with mozzarella is like the best!
I just saved this to my playlist, and I'm going to give it a try. I love the ingredients, so I think this is going to turn out alright!
When I was growing up, my mom would always make it with her spaghetti sauce. Also very good! 👍
@@estellatrevino3706 great
First time eating spaghetti squash this evening. I cooked it in the pressure cooker, whole, pierced the squash several times to reduce pressure when it cooked. 15min... and it cooked perfectly.... Cut it open.. scooped out the seeds and then twirled for the besgetti!! ;-) From there, made it similar to the way you had it... but I added capers...some chopped snow peas... added some meatless Italian meatballs... sauteed it all together for a few minutes...... with a side of salad. It was WONDERMUS! I've eliminated all dairy, eggs, fish and all but chicken from my diet... so I'm enjoying new things on this journey. Oh, and I used Avocado Oil instead of Olive Oil. Thanks for the great recipe!
This recipe turned out great! I bought a spaghetti squash on a whim and then decided I'd figure out how to cook it. I had eaten it as a child. This recipe was very clear and easy to follow! The intuition of the chef was great, too--for example saying "it's not like watermelon so you can scrape closer to the rind." All of the pointers were very useful. My squash was four pounds and took 45 minutes at 350, as you state. I served with pasta sauce and grated cheese on top. A delicious side dish.
I love your personality, this was great and really helpful!

Just made this. I know I’m a little late but ummmmmm WOW! Delicious! 👌🏼
I like how you used both evoo and coconut oil. Both are good for you and have omega 3. I prepare it like this too but I don't use parsley. I use raw baby spinach and scallions. I'm a garlic lover too. No such thing as too much, imho. Lol. Great video. Thanks for sharing.
I always have left over squash after spaghetti night. I made this with the leftovers and it was so flavorful, I'll be making this often. Thanks for a new healthy dish!
Finally, someone whose recipes use the correct amount of garlic!
I love the garlic and the lemon in this! Thanks for your humor and your partner! ;-) !
Headed to the store to get the ingredients....can't wait to cook this! Thanks for sharing!
how did it come out?
I love his simple cooking and so healthy and nutritious, I love his recipes💜
I just finished my first attempt using your bain-marie method recipe and thrilled how it truly is like spaghetti pasta, but better. 1200gm of squash is going to last many meals for me. I'll be vacuum sealing the bulk of this and use the rest for spicy Italian ground turkey alfredo. I'm glad it made sooo much bc it was a challenge to cut, had to use two knives to work through it. And, the squash also turned out to be economical at $4.90 for 3.8 lbs, 1200gm/2.6lb about .25 per serving!
Thanks for the great new recipe! I usually make it for my Italian meat sauce (with black olives and brown mushroom). I just usually steam in the oven and finish with butter. Looking at this recipe makes me think that pesto would be delicious as well! I'm gettin hungry! Yum!
I received a spaghetti squash from a relative and have no idea how to cook it. Since I am going to serve it with a roast chicken, so I am looking for something light. Your recipe caught my eyes so I tried it. It is absolutely delicious. I did not have any parsley on hand but it still turns out great. Thanks

I didn’t know about twisting the squash out 👏🏻👍🏻👊🏻
I was wondering how to prepare spaghetti squash. it looks delicious, thanks for the recipe..
Thank you. I havent had this squash in years...very nice recipe. Im sooo into plants and plant recipes!
Chef Buck brought me luck! I had never been able to make spaghetti squash look like spaghetti! Your recipe Worked!! It never really had any flavor either. I never thought to fry it up in spices & butter before serving it with something else. Thank you so much, we are eating it two nights in a row! Love that it's Keto too!
Yes this dish is very good I made this when I first seen your video about 3 years ago when you first came out with it and today I'm going to make some more bought me a spaghetti squash yesterday and I'm going to fix them up for dinner tonight thanks for sharing love this recipe God bless😇
I like that twisting technique you shared. I also like that you baked in water instead of oil. Great job. Thanks!
Oh my gosh, I can't thank you enough!
Not just for this video sand recipe but for askl of them.
I'm so stick in the food choice department. .. no grain, dairy, lectins, ligumes, nightshade... what's left!?!
Leaves and cruciferous veggies, not much else. Your videos have been so helpful. Thank you!
Have the squash in the oven right now. I will never cut a spaghetti squash lengthways again....I wore myself out cutting the length of that. This recipe sounds and looks so good, bought all my ingredients yesterday and tonight I will enjoy it! I bought parmesan and mozerella for mine....you can never have too much cheese! :)
hope the dish came out alright!--thanks for checking the recipe out
this was so good... i added some spinach in lieu of parsley. the taste is incredible, i personally love grated parmesan so of course i topped it with that. delicious. thank you good sir!
It’s 1am and I’m making this right now lol have never had spaghetti squash in my entire life lol trying some healthy side 🤗

I’ve referenced this vid and made this recipe soooo many times!! Thank you! It’s tasty AF 👌
This was great I added my homegrown basil n lime ..
I do prefer the Avocado/Safflower oil to this over using coconut ( as I use coconut oil in many dishes…I’ve also done your Easy cod w/ homemade tarter recipe for a couple years- love it❤!
My father has grown this more than 30 yrs. I love to use in pasta dishes and have learned some new thibgs. Thanks for the info!
Nice and easy!! I can't wait to try for my dinner tonight! I tried Spaghetti Squash for lunch with tomato sauce just like regular spaghetti..it was way better than I thought. I'm gonna be in love!!
good energy, it's the original sphagetti
Ooh I bet that's delicious. I like to make little nests with the spaghetti squash and crack an egg (quail eggs are my fave for this, but chicken eggs work great, too) and bake until the whites are set but the yolk is still runny. Then I'll put the nests over a bed of greens, like baby kale or a spring mix, and top with a little salt and pepper. The yolk makes for a nice silky sauce and its so deliciously simple.
I'm definitely going to try this recipe next. Man it looks good! I'll be making room in the garden for more spaghetti squash going forward. It's such a good meal.
Thanks so much for sharing this delicious easy recipie! I just made it tonight and loooooove it! I put it into my recipe book so I can make again next time! 😍
I tried this recipe too and it was great. Staff and clients loved it so THANK YOU!
This is great! I’m giving it a try tomorrow. Thanks for sharing this recipe ❤
Came out delicious! Thank you for sharing. This was my first time making Spaghetti squash!
Red pepper flakes as he mentioned add a lot to this, both flavor and a bit of color/texture. Also like to throw in some julienned red bell pepper; I always like at least three colours in dishes. Add some shrimp, scallops, or diced chicken and it's amazing- been eating spaghetti squash for about 25 years!
This is the best and simplest way of making spaghetti squash I've ever used. Thanks!
Looks so yummy. I just recently bought a small spaghetti squash and cooked it exactly like you did, so easy. I used spaghetti sauce on mine…greatest dish for sure. Thanks for sharing your recipe.
I have never thought to cut it that way. I always cut it lengthwise. I’m going to try this recipe. Looks good. Thanks!
I just made a spaghetti squash for the first time last night, I had half then the other half for lunch the next day! I'm so happy I did I'm going to try this receipe next. Thanks for sharing.
I made this to the tea, and beyond words. Mmm delicious. Thank you.
Thanks so much. My biggest hurdle was what to eat healthy and how to prepare great meals
Will make this dish tomorrow
Thanks. Good job. My style of simple cooking. I look forward to trying a new way to cut it. I like that fork spin technique.
Looks yummy, and i will try this, thanks for sharing your recipe😊

Subscribed!! I was going to give a spaghetti squash I grew last summer to the chickens think it was way too old, so I cut it in half, and it’s perfectly fine inside!! Forget that, I’m gonna roast it for myself and try this recipe!

That was amazing A must try looks very yum the part l like was when you stuck that fork in it never seen that before looks just like pasta yum l also love garlic
If you cut in half and clean, cover end with plastic wrap turn upside down in microwave
nuke 5 min. or until soft. You don't need all that water and stuff. I like the Acorn Squash and cook it like this. I scrape out the cooked insides, add butter, cinnamon, brown sugar, salt and pepper. Really good. I am planting some this year 2020. I might do some Spaghetti ones.
i managed to salvage the squash my mom was making with this meatod. note: an even cut as well as water are crucial for the even cooking of the squash.
This recipe was absolutely delicious! my mom and grandma loved it!
I cut mine open lengthwise and bake it in the oven with real butter and honey in the holes , basting as it cooks. Delicious!
I never made spaghetti squash .. but I just bought one today and probably going to make it tomorrow from your recipe. Thank you for the easy one
Oh my goodness, I am so excited to have found your RUclips Tutorials!!! I am a spaghetti squash fanatic. I could eat my weight in it every single day. Can't wait to try this! One question...does it have a strong lemon taste? I just can't thank you enough for sharing. I am a new subscriber and I will most likely be binge watching all of your past tutorials, as well as, all your new ones. Again, thank you so much!!!
Thank you. I love spaghetti squash. This is a simple and tasty recipe. ♥️
Looks great!! I have tried to make spaghetti squash once and overcooked it. I'm going to give this a try. Thanks.
oh...I've overcooked a few of them myself! I really like this squash for the texture--love the faux noodle-like quality--but overcooking it really undermines that texture...I haven't overcooked one in a long time, though...I tend to pull them from the oven now as soon as the fork slides in without much effort...I like that little bit of crunchiness in the "noodle" strings...we always roast them at 350 degrees, and then check the squash at around 30 minutes, but it seems to always take about 40-45 minutes to get to where I like it cooked.
Chef Buck r
I poke the kept-whole squash with a metal skewer and bake. Once it cools some , I cut open and clean. Works Perfect.
I love spaghetti squash. It's the best.
Thanks for sharing ! Looks delicious !
I get the same results by cutting it in half length wise, and cooking in the microwave for 10 minutes. Alot of wasted time here. Spaghetti squash is so simple. But, still, a great recipe!
Microwaving reduces nutrients.

Awesome. Perfect recipes. Don’t have substitute or leave out anything.👌😋
yeah...this is a bare bones dish, but really all you need for a tasty spaghetti squash
Thanks I will a try
Do you try the recipes ?
That's a tasty basic recipe. 😉 I like adding roasted pine nuts and occasionally feta to mine and other greens I've tried, like swiss Chard, spinach, beets greens, kale, and green onions.
I’ve never eaten spaghetti squash with anything other than spaghetti sauce. I made this and it’s absolutely delicious! Thank you for the recipe
Did you try the recipes?
I'm trying this today and your recipe seems easy... thanks
I’m gonna have to try this yes I love garlic too thanks for the recipe😋
Tried this recipe came out great I was so surprised how easy and delicious spaghetti squash could be !
Yum. Super easy and delicious. Thanks for showing us how to cook and get the yummies out. God bless.
Nice video.
*my family were reluctant to eat a lot of squashes or zucchini. But they would eat spaghetti squash, so I started shredding other squashes and zucchini. A quick sauté with your choice of favourite spices, and you may find your family will eat their veggies. (When sautéing like in the video, he adds garlic, but add in mushrooms, peppers, onions, etc. Anything you like.)
We just got back from the store. We are cooking this tonight for 3. Thank you
Amazing I cooked my first one last night and was amazed!!!!!!!! Thank you
Great video my Man! You have definitely been an inspiration to me and I have used your recipes on my channel many times. Maybe not exactly like yours but very similar. Keep up the good work!
I like your style. I just made some spaghetti squash today but...I am trying this next time!
The dish looks delicious! Just a little tip...cut the squash in half lengthwise...its easier to scoop out.
I cut mine on the other way and when it’s ready I put it on a plate and fill it with my favorite sauce, with the fork we get the squash and dip it in the sauce.
The strands are short if you cut it the long way bc they grow around the circumference of the squash, not the length. I use acorn squash in much the same way you describe for thanksgiving. I've stuffed it with all sorts of things. Curry is my favorite thing to put inside an acorn squash half though, although not for thanksgiving. Lol
Thanks for sharing your style... I love garlic. I have to try this recipe.
Started eating spaghetti squash because we had leftovers after feeding it to our pet bearded dragon. Same with bok choy, different greens, and fruits. He basically changed our diet for the better. I plan on trying this recipe this week.
Thank you for sharing your video! I will try to make it this way it looks delicious thank you!
Thank you for the recipe! It tastes amazing!
