I have a pair of brand-new 501 with Made in U.S.A. back patch stated, with red batwing tag sewn in vertical overlock stitch and it's date code is 208 - 1988 year :) Almost 34-years old true vintage 501. Boom! Dropped the mic :)
Mr. LootFam is correct that if the waist tag says "Made in U.S.A." then it is vintage. One particularly easy way to tell non-vintage Levis is from the waist tag. On the lower left side of the waist tag is the lot number (such as 501, 505, 517, ...). If the lot number if followed by the circle R trademark sign then it is not vintage. Vintage Levis don't have that trademark symbol.
I’m wearing my dads old Levi’s he said he skateboarded with in highschool, but I think his alcohol addiction made him forget that he actually got them for work 3 years after I was born cuz the tag says ‘05😭I knew I shouldn’t have trusted him until I checked cuz I thought I had some badass jeans. They’re still cool to me, in a sense that my dad used to wear em for years and now they’re passed down to me🥰

Your videos have been so helpful, literally 2 days ago I was clueless on Levi jeans and now I feel like a pro! I picked up my first Levi item recently and now dated it to be a jacket from 1986, the denim is such good quality and it feels brand new! It's the type 3 so not as desirable but the quality is the main focus for me
@@LootFam I've been digging around online, there are Levi's for Gals red corduroy for sale with white tab and big E but selling for around $70, is this overpriced or about what i should expect?
I've got a nice stock of vintage Levi's, 90s stuff, 550s in cool colors are my favorite (got forest green, deep indigo and a faded lavender, all from june, 1994). 80s orange tab, L2s, Silvertabs, those are all nice, too. I've got some decent, modern pairs, too, but they aren't of the same quality denim, as they once, were. I like oddball stuff, too, from the 60s and 70s, like sta-prest corduroys and slim, tapered women's jeans in a chino design (late 70s) - mainly, things that are lacking any real info, unless one were to pull up, old magazine adverts or catalogs from the era that they were produced. I've yet to come across any Big E jeans but I've got pearl snap button downs with the Big E. All this Levi talk reminds me that I have work to do, cataloging my jeans (probably 100 - 125 pair from levis to guess, hilfiger, CK, all the good vintage women's brands, mom jeans and the like, kik wear, tripp nyc, polo, Hudson, True Religion (made in USA only) , etc, etc). Some people have this notion that selling jeans is impossible , online, and it is certainly not simple but far from impossible. Accurate measurements and info, go a long way. I do, at least, 6 points of measurements for jeans - a few more if they are flared, tapered or something else where more leg measurements are needed, and I do pretty well, as far as customer satisfaction goes. Never had a return or bad review on a clothing item in many years. Cheers and nice video, I'll hit the ol' subscribe button and check out some more of your content.
I believe I have a pair of 501s from the Levi’s Vintage line. I also have a pair of vintage Levi’s dated from 1968-70. They seem to be very similar to each other except for of course the care tag booklet that is found inside along with the care instructions printed on the pocket bag. The other difference is the inside seam (the newer having gold sticking and the vintage with blue stitching). Also, the stitching thread found all over appears to be a little thicker thread in the vintage as compared to the new reproduction which has a thinner thread.
Thanks man! I've got with me 95 ST loose, 97 ST loose shorts, 97 L2 loose, 2 2000 ST baggys, and 2003 ST carpenters. Can't wait to check out all my other pairs back at home! thanks for making this video I didn't know about the back of the care tag trick.

This is great stuff! Thank you so much. I have 3 sons & 2 daughters - all grown up now - and my husband & I. From our family of 7, the one thing I saved overall was all the denims. Apparently other people feel the same, bc my husband cleans out abandoned storage units that didn't sell at auction. People rarely bid on units that are predominately clothing. Levi's Made and Crafted is a more recent addition to the Levi's lineup. They make "higher end" denim jeans with influences from the previous generations though they aren't repros themselves. Generally, they offer nice jeans.
Love you info. Do you happen to know the history of the "red line" jeans? The leather patch has the word red sewn horizontally across the patch and levis red is written on the inside pockets. They are made in the philippines. Red stitching inside.

Are made in italy 1997 orange tab Levi's 503s worth anything? The knees are a bit worn off but you can only notice it when you look closely. The leather tab is fully intact but also kinda worn. You can still distinguish the logo and see the size marks.
I'm looking at a levis jacket whick seems to be vintage perhaps. The care tag on it is very plain and simple. Not much info on it at all. It has a code which i thought dates it to 91, but I know you mention the Date Codes weren't introduced until 93. Any ideas by any chance?

How you doing? I found a levis jacket for 3 dollars that was weird toe so I bought it. What was weird is that the inside tag is huge and has no lot number or any info. I'm guessing it's fake? If not how can I tell size and what it is?

Awesome video! I found a pair of black levis 517 made in china with the red batwing label and a single wash tag in Korean. It also has a white blank back pocket tab with only (r) on it. This kinda confuses me because the wash tags look legit but they're made in China. 😅 Any idea when levis made their jeans in China in the 90s?
@@LootFam I appreciate the knowledge! I can see on the production date that it was made in 99. Now, i know that you mentioned that not all vintage are desirable. Hi I have a pair of orange tabs with the black batwing logo made in USA like you mentioned code says 0494 I also have a pair of older blue jeans with a care label on the fly, made in Canada, there’s a couple codes on the care tag 02023, 50512, and 4891 to me I think the production date is 4891 but I could be wrong, any tips?
The first pair is certainly from 1994. The second is a bit more difficult. Canadian tags sometimes don't follow the same rules as USA tags. Could you send me a pictures of the tag to lootfam1@gmail.com?

Can u have a 3 digit factory code (192) with Black batman paper tag which reads 0305 Is it made (2005? or 1995?) made in Brazil. Thanks for your contribution!
Josh, thanks for your video. Question? Would a pair of gray Levis 511 Big E be considered vintage even though it has the four nylon tags? You mentioned Levis with these 4 nylon tags would be about 10 years old, not making them vintage. Let me know your expert opinion. Thx
No, they wouldn’t be. In the last few years levis has released some throw back models that have included the “big E”. They may also be a part of the Levis Vintage Collection. Either way they may be worth a bit more than normal modern levis, but unfortunately those four tags are dead give always that they are modern. Thanks for asking!
do you happen to know about a orange tab levi’s that don’t have a care tag but have a stamp on the patch that states 80LPORG1? not sure if they are 80s pants i don’t know where they are made or anything and could barely find anything about them if you know anything i really appreciate if you are able to help!
Hi Josh, I have a pair of Levis 517 and not in denim. It has light grey colour. I dont know how to figure out which year they are from. Coild you help?
Hi! So I saw a vintage seller online who’s selling “vintage” levis for around $600 (30k php) - Can a pair really cost that much? I’m very new at this whole vintage setup.
Yes, they can, though to really deserve that price they need to be from the 60s or older. Even then its only certain pairs that would command that price. Most vintage levis from the last 50 years can be had for 35-150 dollars depending on the model.
@@sylasmalone6126 maybe she's refering to levis that was manufactured from 80s-90s. 600$ is too much for 80s-90s levis. If its from the 50s-60s I guess 600$ is fine price.
There are a few indicators but i would need to see photos to be sure. You can email me some at lootfam1@gmail.com. Also, i have a video on how to identify vintage T-shirts. Some of the same rules apply to vintage levis tshirts.
I hope you can help me out. Im assuming based on your vid I got a reproduction on my hand. Its got the 4 tags inside and on the inside pocket it says "over 145 years" It just confused me since it does have a big E tab and a leather patch on the back that still says "LOT" infront of the style number, which is a 511. I have not seen on any other levi's so far that werent actual vintage with the big E and leather patch, im trying to figure out its value but im lost xD
Unfortunately, this pair is a modern pair. Levis starting using the “big E” on their tabs again to denote their more “premium” products. The 511 is modern style too.
I’m listing this Levi jacket I don’t know what year it is OMG I just got this Apple phone and I don’t do anything on a computer yet so that’s why so mandatory to have a quick phone well thank you so much for your videos I hope I can hear it out you guys are awesome 🙏 🧚🏿♂️🧚🏿♀️👼❤️🐝🐥🐳🦊🐶

LEVIS PHILIPPINES is the first Levis Jeans producer for Asian Market. They partially closed Philippine Factory on 2004 and Officially on 2008 due to higher wage demand
That helped, thank you!
How could I send you pictures of a pair of orange tab jeans to see if they are real or fake?
Sure! Lootfam1@gmail.com
I have a Levi's Jacket that was given to me in 92 with a leather LEVI on the side of the front pocket. What year could this jacket have been made any Idea...Thanks for any response
So if there not from the USA there not vintage?
Your channel is so good 📈
Thank you so much!
Are made in italy 1997 orange tab Levi's 503s worth anything? The knees are a bit worn off but you can only notice it when you look closely. The leather tab is fully intact but also kinda worn. You can still distinguish the logo and see the size marks.
They are worth something, though they are unlikely a super valuable pair. I’d guess 30-60ish.
Thanks for watching!
So helpful. Thank you!
I have a pair of Levi's 524 super Low how do you tell if their boot cut skinny if they don't have it on the label
I'm looking at a levis jacket whick seems to be vintage perhaps.
The care tag on it is very plain and simple. Not much info on it at all.
It has a code which i thought dates it to 91, but I know you mention the Date Codes weren't introduced until 93. Any ideas by any chance?
Hey! If you'd like you can send me some photos and we can try to figure it out. Email: lootfam1@gmail.com
Hey! I have 3 different Pairs of orange tab levis and i just cant seem to figure out the exact era, do you think you could give me a hand? Would really appreciate the help!
Sure! Email me some photos to lootfam1@gmail.com and I'll take a look!
I front to Costa Rica and today look your vídeos , Thanks for information
Yep, this was such a serious a💲💲 video I had to watch it twice...💯✔ I be taking screenshots as well of important parts of the jeans👖too, so that way I can reflect and study and be better prepared for hunting for vintage clothing while out and about...🤘🏼💯✔
I have a pair lot 560 tm says made in Madagascar though
How you doing? I found a levis jacket for 3 dollars that was weird toe so I bought it. What was weird is that the inside tag is huge and has no lot number or any info. I'm guessing it's fake? If not how can I tell size and what it is?
I have seen giant tags before, I haven't been able to confirm their authenticity. If you'd like you can send me some photos to lootfam1@gmail.com. Thanks for watching!
@@LootFam sorry it took so long, but I did email you.
This really helped. Thanks!
Awesome video! I found a pair of black levis 517 made in china with the red batwing label and a single wash tag in Korean. It also has a white blank back pocket tab with only (r) on it. This kinda confuses me because the wash tags look legit but they're made in China. 😅
Any idea when levis made their jeans in China in the 90s?
Chinese production generally started in the early 2000s. Possibly slightly before.
@@LootFam I appreciate the knowledge! I can see on the production date that it was made in 99. Now, i know that you mentioned that not all vintage are desirable. But I'm curious to know the general sentiment on pairs made from China/Mexico during the late 90s.
Are they generally of good or bad quality?
Hi I have a pair of orange tabs with the black batwing logo made in USA like you mentioned code says 0494
I also have a pair of older blue jeans with a care label on the fly, made in Canada, there’s a couple codes on the care tag 02023, 50512, and 4891 to me I think the production date is 4891 but I could be wrong, any tips?
The first pair is certainly from 1994.
The second is a bit more difficult. Canadian tags sometimes don't follow the same rules as USA tags. Could you send me a pictures of the tag to lootfam1@gmail.com?
I have a pair of levis 550 that i found at a thrift shop the inner tag looks like bubble letters but i cant find any information on it anywhere. Do you know what that might mean?
Hmm, not sure. Could you send me some photos to lootfam1@gmail.com?
I can’t find any comps on 501 made in South Africa with a black batwing slightly silky tag and there is printing on the pocket. Anybody have any ideas.
Could you send some pictures to lootfam1@gmail.com? I’d love to take a look!
Can someone tell what May 201873 means . I found this Levi's jacket with both pockets on the bottom with Made in the USA on the tag. I'm not sure what May 201873 on the tag means
Yes! That was the date of the first riveted jeans were patented. It’s generally considered moment denim jeans were officially invented.
@@LootFam I've never seen this particular trucker jacket before. I'm wondering if it's real. There is no number on the back of the buttons or rivets ONLY WPL 423 on the tag. The care tag is pretty much erased but on the bottom it has WPL 423 and Made in USA on it printed in black side by side
@@LootFam There is also XX on the main Levi's tag on the right
Can u have a 3 digit factory code (192) with Black batman paper tag which reads 0305 Is it made (2005? or 1995?) made in Brazil. Thanks for your contribution!
Yes, you can! Also, it’s most likely 1995. If you’d like to be sure you are welcome to send me some pictures at Lootfam1@gmail.com
@@LootFam Thanks for reply! I'll send it right now
anyway you can help me out finding what year mine are?
Sure! Email me some photos at lootfam1@gmail.com
Thanks for asking!
no they’re repros
do you happen to know about a orange tab levi’s that don’t have a care tag but have a stamp on the patch that states 80LPORG1? not sure if they are 80s pants i don’t know where they are made or anything and could barely find anything about them if you know anything i really appreciate if you are able to help!
actually i just did some research apparently made in ‘05? haha still not sure since the tab is orange
Hey sorry for the delay. Catching up after holidays. Can you send me some photos? Lootfam1@gmail.com
Hi Josh,
I have a pair of Levis 517 and not in denim. It has light grey colour. I dont know how to figure out which year they are from. Coild you help?
Sure can! Would you send pictures to lootfam1@gmail.com?
yes, I am going to do right away, Thanks
600 lol. Some can for for thousands. Crazy 1890 ones found in mind that are dusty as fuck have sold for 35 plus grand.
@@sylasmalone6126 maybe she's refering to levis that was manufactured from 80s-90s. 600$ is too much for 80s-90s levis. If its from the 50s-60s I guess 600$ is fine price.
I have a pair of blank tab 501 xx I don't know if their worth anything
If you'd like to, you can send me some pictures to lootfam1gmail.com and I'll take a look! Thanks for watching!
i still can’t understand how to read the numbers on my tag. there are so many
How about the t-shirt? I have 1 but I don't if is vintage shirt.
There are a few indicators but i would need to see photos to be sure. You can email me some at lootfam1@gmail.com.
Also, i have a video on how to identify vintage T-shirts. Some of the same rules apply to vintage levis tshirts.
Nice video - Keep up the great content! 👌
Thanks!
I hope you can help me out.
Im assuming based on your vid I got a reproduction on my hand.
Its got the 4 tags inside and on the inside pocket it says "over 145 years"
It just confused me since it does have a big E tab and a leather patch on the back that still says "LOT" infront of the style number, which is a 511.
Alright that explains a lot then.
Thanks for the answer! you got yourself a sub, good videos mate
Vintage jeans are not going to say vintage on them
This person is educated and cool
I’m listing this Levi jacket I don’t know what year it is OMG I just got this Apple phone and I don’t do anything on a computer yet so that’s why so mandatory to have a quick phone well thank you so much for your videos I hope I can hear it out you guys are awesome 🙏 🧚🏿♂️🧚🏿♀️👼❤️🐝🐥🐳🦊🐶
Hi, I've been searching the whole internet about my thrifted pair of Levi's 681 orange tab, made in the UK and have not seen this pair mentioned anywhere. Do you know if these might be somewhat rare pair of Levi's? These are very reworked, maybe bleached and ripped a bit on the thighs, zipper has been replaced with a new one. So probably not worth much anyway, would just be cool to hear your opinion?
I also have a pair of made in Great Britain men's levi 528 (only finding info for ladies curvy jeans in 528). If they did the date the same way the US did, they would be from 1969?? The waist patch is also very different and I cannot find anything at all on the internet that looks like it. Would love some help to find out more about them...
Could anyone date selvedge 501's, tag states " Made in Turkey, finished in Italy"
Levis has been making some of their selvedge jeans in turkey over the last few years. My guess is that it’s modern.
If their made in Canada , is it considered vintage?
In some cases yes, depends on a few other factors, but being made in Canada doesn’t mean it’s not vintage. Levis has had international factories for some time, though they normally produced garments intended for sale in those countries.
how bout for japan made levis?
Most like repros. Some can be vintage but they’ll all likely be repros.
Great video 😊 thanks ✌️
Glad you enjoyed it
I own my Dad's jeans he owned from 1989 😆
As a date I have 111, what does that mean? (Made in the USA)
It most likely means November, 1991 depending on the tag style. Is it a red or black batwing tag or just plain white?
@@LootFam it's the black batwing
Have a pair from the 80s
nike international korea jacket 88 any info?? thankyou

1794 G 34
505 1557
9 85 536
Can you please explain to me what these #'s mean?
The date code is 9 85 giving us September 1985. Check this video out for more information: ruclips.net/video/cZd0rYBApRA/видео.html
Awesome thank you
as far as im concerned , if they arnt " made in the USA " they arnt vintage . you wouldnt buy a harley -davidson made in cambodia .
Fair enough. Thanks for watching!
@@LootFam ive just got a pair of australian made levis , they just use a small white care tag , with a 341 button number on them all .local production finished in 2002 , they also made 2 and 4 pocket jackets as well . im chasing a 2 pocket 82 dated one at the moment
Burned by a LVC reproduction?😂. I would love to get burned by those while at the thrift store!
Haha, I guess "burned" is a bit strong. haha.
Love jacket hai mere pass aunty
Modern LEVI'S not worth buying. LVC is not worth buying too.
If there is anything left on the planet from old-school true-selvedge jeans porn in our modern days, it's IRON HEART and that's it!
Shuttle looms machines of the early 20th century, Japanese production, the Highest-end quality super heavy raw denim up to 25Oz... And yeah - the price tag is almost five Benjamins! But man... they're so damn sick!
So it tellin us levis are now crap
