For such a short video, you showed me three important things: it's possible to make a great quilt without agonizing over how to incorporate 21 fabrics; there are tools to help you cut straight; and...strip units! ☺️That was inspiring. Thank you!
I am so happy to see the Midnight Quilter is back! I love this quilt. I have two great nephews that I wanted to make something quick and masculine for them. So I am going to pick 4 colors, double up on the fabric and try to make a little variety in which color goes for which strip. Wish me luck!
I love to pick out fabric. I find the more fabrics better. I find when you only have 3 fabrics they all have to play well with each other. Thanks you for bringing back the Midnight Quilter. Love it!
Love picking out fabrics. I start with a print that I like and pull colors out that piece. Lots of times, I don't even use the original fabric and that's ok because the colors go well together. Loving this quilt!
I also struggle with matching multiple fabrics! This video is wonderful for showing how impact full using only 3 fabrics can be. Now I need that stripology ruler and more videos!
That pattern is so perfect for quick gifting or just exercising your quilting muscles. I do love choosing fabrics most of the time. I like seeing how they play off of each other and make some parts pop.
When I was a new quilter I struggled with fabric selection. Now I feel confident with my choices. Love that quilt design. Units looks like a better way to piece than just strips.
Looks like a fun quilt to make, adding to my list !! I love that there are only 3 fabrics to choose. Your fabrics are great! I am getting better at picking/putting fabrics together. I used to rely on my quilting buddy, but she “dumped” me after 25 years. Sad, but I have learned to have more confidence in myself and now enjoy the process more! Her loss! Love all your challenges!
YAY! Midnight Quilter has returned! I cannot thank you enough for admitting that some steps of the quilting process are more challenging than others for you. I too struggle with picking fabrics. However, my 10 year old granddaughter is a natural at putting color and fabrics together and whenever I'm stuck - she comes to the rescue. Seriously! Last time she helped me I had 63 hexagons laid out on the floor and could not figure out how best to put them together. She took one look and said "Oma, I have a vision!" I sewed them together exactly how she laid them out and it's gorgeous. Team work makes the Dream work!
I really love how this pattern comes together and the cutting ruler is a must. I find it very hard to pick our fabric for a quilt too, but love those colours together.
Enjoy seeing you back as the Midnight Quilter, Angela! 🥰 Thx for the inspiration and the confess of disliking picking the fabric. Thought I love this step and all the possibilities it hold in mind.
While I've been sewing for years I am just discovering the art of quilting. I love this pattern and your fabric choices. I do love to pick out my own colors but do want to do this pattern!
I love how easily this came together! I confess I have a hard time with fabric selection, too, and generally go with precuts for that reason. Maybe I can pick out 3 to do this, lol!
I love picking fabrics! It is my favorite part of the process. My mom owned a quilt shop for 20 years, and I chose fabrics for samples and kits, and helped customers all the time with choosing fabrics! Loved every minute!
Absolutely love this quilt design. I definitely see making it in the future. I usually pick my fabrics for a quilt from a designer’s fabric line. I am branching out more though and would like to chose my own fabric even if it’s a different fabric line, I’m still working on that skill set 😉 but I love auditioning fabrics for sampler blocks, of course from a coordinated fabric bundle.
I love that the midnight quilter is back. Love the colors you picked for both quilts. I personally hate picking fabrics always have my daughter come with me to help out.
This is such a gorgeous simple but effective design. Pleasing on the eye! Of course, I am in Angela's corner and a "picking buddy" has my back! Sonica and I help each other and because we are very good friends, we can be honest with choices and can say to each other, uhm NO! 😁
What a beautiful quilt!! I too struggle with picking out colors and get my husband to help. It's great to have a helper. Lol. Great to see midnight quilter back!!
It's nice to know I'm not the only quilter who struggles with fabric choices! I'm lucky enough to have a great local quilt shop with wonderful employees who are willing AND able to help me. Thanks for the video!
It is so great to have the midnight quilter back. I'm sure it is difficult to find the time, but there is nothing else like it. And you remind us that the point is to have fun. I started to believe I could actually quilt because of the midnight quilt show! Thanks for all you share and bring to the process.
You are not alone with picking out fabric. I always struggle to find the right colors/patterns and then second quests my way through the whole quilt. Good to see the Midnight Quilter again!
Glad to see you back! I struggle to choose by fabrics but so far my quilt recipients have loved them. I’m so grateful for supportive family and friends!
So happy to see a new episode of Midnight Quilter.I agree, fabric selection can be challenging. But, precuts, patterns and fabric collections provide inspiration
Well, I have problems picking my own fabrics, however, when I am at the fabric store, others will ask for my opinion/help and it is easier for someone else. I also really like the teal/grey colorway that you showed in this video. Glad to see you (Midnight Quilter)!!!
Love this quilt and the fabrics. I’m very indecisive when it comes to picking out fabric. Takes me FOREVER! Love kits that do the deciding for me. Enjoyed the video. Thanks!
I like designers lines for easy fabric choices, but recently have been working with scrap quilts and deciding placement only by values for contrast. Love what you do. Hope you had a wonderful holiday season, Angela. We were caught in the Colorado wildfires and lost a home, but family all safe, thank God, and that is the most important thing. Prayers for all the families in that disaster.
It was good to see you back with a Midnight Quilter video!!!! I used to really love the process of picking fabrics for quilts. Now that so many shops are organized by fabric collection, it makes it actually a little hard for people like me to find what I want. I have to walk all over looking at the various collections rather than looking at a selection of reds, say. However, it's all still fun! And I still have one "old-fashioned" quilt shop near my Cape Cod house organized in a way that picking your fabric is easy (or easy as can be). Too many fabrics, too many choices!
Yeah… nice to have a new Midnight Quilter episode:) Thank you Angela for super easy and efficient quilt top assembly process and sharing essential tips as always!
I have a really hard time picking fabric. I say that every quilt I've ever made has one fabric that just doesn't play well with others. Glad to see Midnight Quilter again!
So happy to see the Midnight Quilter back! I seem to always pick my fabrics from fabric lines to make it easy. But I really love spending time at my local quilt shop auditioning different options.
I, too, struggle with picking fabric, thank goodness for all the lovely ladies from my local quilt shop “From the First Stitch to the Last” in Wangara, Western Australia, love this quilt and your quilting, another one to add to my list🌹
Picking fabrics is one of my favorite parts! I love the hunt for that perfect compliment... and then I feel bad cutting up those gorgeous pieces of fabric!
I love picking out fabric! I will often pick out a fabric that I have fallen in love with - sometimes it is a large print or one with a lot of colour and then I will pick all of the other fabrics to coordinate with it. I just love to see a quilt coming together with a variety of fabrics that all tie together! I love this new kit - even though it is just three colours - it is a lovely design.
Love this quilt and your honesty regarding fabric selection. Selecting the fabric is the part I enjoy the most with quilting it all together is my least favorite part. We all have strengths and weaknesses so it’s great to help each other where we need it. I’m always on the lookout for easier patterns to make quilts for Project Linus and this one just might fit the bill. Have missed the Midnight Quilter - happy to see you again. Happy New Year to you and your fam.
I love the simplicity of the design and assembly of the quilt. I can see it in several color combinations! Can't wait to get started picking fabrics and sewing! Thanks Angela!
Great to see the midnight quilter again! Since I have a head injury from a car accident in August, I can’t sleep and I’m awake way past midnight. I can only watch a few minutes of video at a time and it’s nice to have some quality video without a lot of noise that I don’t have to try to memorize. Color selection didn’t used to be a problem, although I was always sure that the next quilt shop would have just the right color that I was looking for. But since my head injury everything is a struggle. Hoping to get back to my normal self with the help of teaching like yours.
I love watching your tutorials, Angela. PLEASE find a way to show us the entire finished quilt all in one shot at the end! Your tutorials used to end this way, and it was THE most anticipated moment for me.
Beautiful quilt. Love the grey and teal. You give lots of tips and shortcuts to make it possible for any quilter. Glad to see your sunny personality again.
While I don't have trouble with picking out fabrics, I can never make up my mind on a pattern. I really like all of yours and this one is especially great as it works for boys or girls. Angela, you are such an inspiration. I just started quilting during the covid shutdown and am so happy I found you!
I love picking out fabric! Matter of fact, just in the last 3 days, i have helped people pick out fabric for their quilts! No , I don’t work at a quilt store and no judging why i was there 3 days in a row! Matter of fact, i helped and put my 2cents in on what the owner was ordering from Jaftex! You do great picking out fabric Angela. You just go for the more muted tones. That’s probably from doing all the brights from Tula!!!!! Ha ha ha. Love the store, love the quilt and love the challenges. Heck, i love it all!
When it comes to quilting, the fabric selection process is both one of my least favorite and most favorite things to do. Least: Because I spend waaay too much time looking through and admiring all of my vintage, modern, hand-me-down, etc. fabric. Most: It dares me to try new color and print/solid combinations. The results are always an awesome surprise. Give yourself a pat on the back girl! You do amazing work!
Wonderful to see a new episode! Picking fabric colors for a quilt design is challenging and I agree, the more colors there are the more difficult it becomes.
I’m like a kid in a candy store when I’m at the fabric store. I see so many different fabrics and get so many ideas. I have to be careful so I don’t go broke. When I pick out fabrics I try to match what the person who will be receiving the project will enjoy and buy accordingly. It can be frustrating when you can’t get the colors to match as closely as I would like. Love your videos.
I am so not you, Angela, I love picking fabrics. The possibilities are endless, although have my faves. My least is the quilting. confidence is much lower there. absolutely admire your skill and confidence. Thanks for this quilt pattern...🌸adorable.
I struggle with picking out fabric, so I always bring someone with me when I go to the store. I love this fabric you picked out, love the colour on both quilts!
I'm so glad to see the Midnight Quilter again, I missed seeing more of these. And this looks so good with only 3 fabrics! Seems easy to do, I'll have to add it to my list.
I buy fabric with all kinds of plans. I pick out fabrics at the store to coordinate. Then I get it home and put it in my to-do pile. All kinds of fun fabrics, so little time ! You go girl ! Have a GREAT 2022 !
This is a gorgeous quilt! Aqua has always been my favorite color! With gray, it’s perfect! I am so glad to see you making quilts! The pattern is so different than anything I’ve seen! Thank you! Thank you!
I actually enjoy picking out fabrics. I have learned having contrast in my quilts helps a lot! Good to see you back doing the Midnight Quilter again. Happy New Year!
I love this design! I also struggle with fabric choices. Yes, whoever thought of the easy way to make strip sets, especially with narrow strips, is a genius. Thank you for always inspiring me!
I learned so much from this video Angela. With just a few fabrics you have produced a stunning quilt in a beautiful serene color scheme. This is truly one of my favorites!
I love your Faded Stripes pattern. Your video shows that it's so simple to make, but it looks stunning. I agree with you. Picking out the fabric is the hardest part of making a quilt.
Love these colors and pattern. Fabric selection is the hardest part of quilting for me! Angela, your videos have been the confidence builder needed to get me quilting! You’re a very good teacher. Thank you!
I think I am definitely getting better at picking fabrics. The more I look at fabric collections, It helps me understand how colors and prints go together. Thanks for the video always a joy to watch!
That is great... I think this will be my 2nd quilt, my 1st quilt was a jelly roll strip christ ms quilt... I still can't belive I did it. I am hooked. I ❤️ quilting. Thank you for sharing with everybody. Staci
I used to hate picking out fabric for a quilt. Then I learned to pick out a fabric that I like that has multiple colors in it. I choose fabrics that would go with it. Then put the first fabric back. Those fabrics that went with the first fabric all go together and make a beautiful quilt I find choosing fabrics fun now!
Angela as always this video is sublime. This quilt pattern excites me to keep sewing and quilting. I am glad I am not the only one who gets stumped by matching colors. Although picking fabric from the same line helps. It can still sometimes be a challenge. Plus needing only THREE fabrics is GREAT. Thank you so much
I love your teal and gray combo. I find that the more fabrics I collect the harder it is to make decisions about what colors and designs go well together.
For such a short video, you showed me three important things: it's possible to make a great quilt without agonizing over how to incorporate 21 fabrics; there are tools to help you cut straight; and...strip units! ☺️That was inspiring. Thank you!
I love the fabric used in this video. Also, the quilting as well is wonderful. Your humor always makes me break out in laughter!!
I am so happy to see the Midnight Quilter is back! I love this quilt. I have two great nephews that I wanted to make something quick and masculine for them. So I am going to pick 4 colors, double up on the fabric and try to make a little variety in which color goes for which strip. Wish me luck!

That pattern is so perfect for quick gifting or just exercising your quilting muscles. I do love choosing fabrics most of the time. I like seeing how they play off of each other and make some parts pop.
I LOVED that fabric combo, and the swirl design, that is what gives this quilt the chef's kiss.
When I was a new quilter I struggled with fabric selection. Now I feel confident with my choices. Love that quilt design. Units looks like a better way to piece than just strips.
Still struggle with fabric selection.
So happy to see another Midnight Quilter show! Great design that anyone could make!
Looks like a fun quilt to make, adding to my list !! I love that there are only 3 fabrics to choose. Your fabrics are great! I am getting better at picking/putting fabrics together. I really love how this pattern comes together and the cutting ruler is a must. I find it very hard to pick our fabric for a quilt too, but love those colours together.
I love the idea of not stressing over fabric choices! So happy the Midnight Quilter is back! The quilt is amazing!
Love the colors of this quilt and that it’s so easy to sew. Would love to win the kit for this design. Thank you Angela.
I Absolutely LOVE this pattern❤️❤️❤️ a download Must!! Thank you Angela and btw, don’t ever change - we love you!
Love that pattern and the fabric you chose, beautiful! I love picking out my fabrics, i love the challenge, but also enjoy using a precut bundle too.

I feel your pain with picking out fabric! Wish I had your “girl Friday” to do it for me! Beautiful quilt!!!
I would never have guessed that you have difficulty picking out fabrics. I love the teal and gray combination you’ve picked for this quilt.
Absolutely love this quilt design. I definitely see making it in the future. I usually pick my fabrics for a quilt from a designer’s fabric line. You do great picking out fabric Angela. You just go for the more muted tones. That’s probably from doing all the brights from Tula!!!!! Ha ha ha. Love the store, love the quilt and love the challenges. Heck, i love it all!
Since my name is also Irene, picking out the fabrics from my stash is my absolute favorite part of making a quilt. Gets my creative juices going!
Love this pattern and how simple it is to put together with only three fabrics. So glad the Midnight Quilter is back!
When it comes to quilting, the fabric selection process is both one of my least favorite and most favorite things to do. Love your videos.
Love the fabric selection discussion. You’re a riot! I think we all worry about choosing the right fabrics but you (and Irene) do it very well!

I love picking out fabrics. I get to browse through the store and put my handles on the bolts. It's one of my favorite parts of the creative process.
I spend way too much time picking out fabrics. I love that you used fabrics from your collection. Makes it so much easier.
I love this quilt and a so very glad to see Midnight Quilter again. You make me laugh out loud.
