    Tempted to give the Max a try despite getting the Z at reduced price a month ago... The Z already gives the very pleasant feeling of wanting to square itself up.. (well compared to my previous 2014 old Callaway gamer that is) I can only imagine what the Max would do. Thanks massively again for testing at 3 different speeds, you're setting the standard on YT imho.

    Great review, I am really tempted to go try this out when I can. I currently play a Mizuno GT180 from 2018, do you think that upgrading to this would be noticeably more forgiving on miss hits?
    Also, does it use the same adapter as the GT180? It would be nice to keep my shafts (Fujikura SIX XLR8 X-flex and Fujikura Orochi 65g x-flex).

    • @AskGolfNut
      @AskGolfNut  7 месяцев назад +1

      I think the old adapter may fit but the numbers on the hozel may not marry up to the actual loft on the head depending on what you have.
      You may well find a huge difference between the GT180 and the Max, it's a very different, much more stable head from mishits. You may well not find too much in the way of added distance from the middle but may well find a big gain in off centre strikes 👍🏻

    • @william_hartman
      @william_hartman 7 месяцев назад

      @@AskGolfNut That's great to hear. I don't really need more distance with my speed, but more distance and less offline from non-center strike would be very nice. I hope they offer an option to buy the head only.
      I was pretty surprised at how low the spin was, even in your 108 MPH test the spin was only 2200. I feel like most forgiving drivers have spin closer to 3000 than to 2000.

      @jbh199 Max I'm 12 degrees. The platinum version is a lighter head weight to promote faster swing speeds but is less forgiving than the Max. Honestly I haven't really seen much benefit in the way of huge gains in speed from the Platinum but the extra forgiveness helps with the Max especially from miss hit shots 👍🏻

    • @AskGolfNut
      @AskGolfNut  4 месяца назад +1

      Any time you change the loft it'll change the spin profile, so for this I'd me, looking to use, the offset chamber loft sleeve to dial launch and trajectory. That's the beauty of the offset chamber loft sleeve 👍🏻👍🏻

  • @TeeMontague
    @TeeMontague 7 месяцев назад +1

    Would I be correct in assuming that lowering the loft to 7.5* (and subsequently opening the face in the process) would help counteract the "over-gearing" to the left on toe strikes? Cheers

    • @AskGolfNut
      @AskGolfNut  7 месяцев назад +1

      It would do (although the over gearing in real terms is marginal, I'm just being over critical) but it would also open the face now and bias the dispersion more right side. Of course that can be a great thing for a golfer that wants, thats the great thing of having multiple lofts with an ossfet camber loft adapter, you can fit anyone for any shape or missed shot pattern by using the right loft set at the right setting 👍🏻

PS, at the risk of being nerdy I would love a video on gear effects, you second shot was also (slightly) toe side, still the side spin made it apparently fade instead of draw like shot #1. There is one thing to bear in mind and that Mizuno and other manufacturers have a small mix of measuring methods which means the same length club can come out 2 different measurements. Only a very small difference but just in case you hear different lengths being spoke about for the same club that's why 👍🏻

    Sorry for another question. I struggle with too high spin like big time, which led me to the X and Z versions that work well for me. Is the Max a much higher spinning driver than the Z/X? Or no need to worry? Thx.

    • @AskGolfNut
      @AskGolfNut  7 месяцев назад

      No not necessarily however if you struggle with high spin with a driver, it is very much advised to fix the swing mechanism that creates the issue rather than searching for equipment to fix. Swing changes can have a big effect on driver, where as Driver changes have relatively small changes in spin but much bigger changes in moi or forgiveness. 👍🏻

    Hi Jay, one question, isn't a 45'' 3/4 shaft way too big for this driver?

    • @AskGolfNut
      @AskGolfNut  4 месяца назад

      Absolutely have to test within your Fitting. Basically its the same length now on the Max as all the other manufactures use as their standard. Mizuno say they can afford to eek out their normally slightly reduced shaft length due to the Forgiveness of the Head. In reality you'll have to test your strike pattern and also test with a shorter Z or X shaft to see how dispersion changes to make a decision on length 👍

      I'm personally unaware of the retail sales data for the companies however unlike the Qi Max, the ST230 Max and the G430 MAX 10K operate at a different spin profile to that of its siblings within their range. Effectively a golfer would fit into any of them depending on their fitting requirements. It's more of a better and more comprehensive range rather than a replacement for the others in the range 👍🏻👍🏻

    How much do you get asked to do a vid with a senior, sub 85 mph swing speed? Seems like every year, i try to find my Dad some distance in a new driver. He's in a Callaway Epic Star Max, but he found 10-12 yds with the Rogue ST Max, which surprised me to be honest. I'm inclined to get the Rogue ST for him, but it's now 2 generations behind now and I'd hate to leave tech on the table. It's hard to take all of the youtubers data to get a ballpark, but you all are 300 yards and plus 100 mph swing speed. Not apples to apples. Thoughts?
    I literally got to the part in this vid where you posted data for different swing speeds! That's crazy! I still want to get data on all the new drivers this year. Even PXG looks interesting. So many clubs to weigh in on. Everybody wants to give him 12.5 but I'm thinking 10.5 for roll out would give more overall yardage that the launch monitors can't account for.

    • @lkae4
      @lkae4 7 месяцев назад

      Latest tech is the G430 Max 10K or Qi10 Max. G430 Max too. I'm looking at the Ping 10K Max. If the spin is good, it's a no brainer, being one of the most forgiving drivers of all time.

    • @JayJay-jx3zg
      @JayJay-jx3zg 7 месяцев назад

      @lkae4 forgiveness is one thing, but setup and head choice for distance is another thing. Mizuno, Cobra, Paradym (this year or last year), TM and Ping all look tempting. PXG you can only try at their location unfortunately. Gotta go to a couple places and not settle before you get all the data. Hopefully, it will be on a good launch monitor, too.

      At 71 with 72 club head speed I learned the following. The distance between the longest and shortest ball is less than 5 yards. Pro v1 left dash goes the farthest but a slower swing speed needs a ball that spins. I hit longer clubs into greens and need stopping power which the kirkland prior generation offers. Hope this helps slower swingers

    • @AskGolfNut
      @AskGolfNut  7 месяцев назад +1

      That's possibly due to previous shaft lengths not being the same length as other manufacturers. The face tech is basically the same as they are all governed to not be too hot, but if the shaft isn't as long then often you don't swing it the same speed and may well lose out on ball speed. Mizuno have done this to promote better control of strike rather than pure speed. The Max is now up at the same length as basically all others 👍🏻
