I pick the book, and I’m still reading it right now. So far, I’m really enjoying it. I haven’t read many books like this one before, and I really like how it portrays mother-daughter and sister relationships. I haven’t heard much of the fairy tale yet, but I’m excited to get to that part of the book! :)
I started reading this book about a year ago but got bored and stopped. Now after reading "The Nightengale" I'm wondering if I should revisit this book because the Nightengale was sooooo good. I literally wanted to hug that book before I returned it to the library. Great review.
This is one of the most moving books I have ever read. The story is a slow start, but then it started to draw me in. The background is a sad time in history but the main character faces extraordinary challenges. I am a parent and was amazed at the depth of options it raised for me.
It is a very heartbreaking book and I loved how it discussed the complexities of mother-daughter relationships. Plus, the historical aspect was really well done. :)
I recently read this and thought it was really well done. The author is kind of marketed as "chick lit" which is a very hit-and-miss genre for me so I had put off reading this, but it definitely was well thought out, well written, and very well researched. It was also heart-breaking and hope-filled - both at the same time. I personally did not care for the ending which honestly is the only criticism I have of the whole book. I definitely plan to read more of her in 2018.
This is definitely one of the best books I've ever read. I couldn't put it down. The story was so compelling and heart-wrenching, especially during the war when the mother had to cut her finger for her young son to suck the blood because of starvation. I strongly recommend this book.
I was fortunate enough to buy this book (exact cover), at a local thrift store that had a 2 for 1 deal that day on all their hardcover books. At the time, I wasn't familiar with the author, however, I was intrigued by its description and its lovely, lovely jacket. It's been several years now since then and even today, I think it's fair to say that it's one of my all time favorite books. To be fair, I also made it a point to read almost all of K.H's others books, but none have compared to Winter Garden..... yet. Although, Nightingale is one that I have read only once, and l feel I actually lived with those sisters throughout their story. These days I always have my eyes peeled for a copy of it when I'm in my local thrift shops, but no luck as yet. I have plans to read it again, and then it will find its place of honor in my library whenever that day comes. Thank you K.H. for bringing these friends into my life.

It is really good. The fairytale is really impactful and very unique compared to the other WWII historical fiction books that I have read :)

That is awesome! This book was a little bit of a slow burn but it is definitely worth being a bit patient in the beginning.

Kristin Hannah is an amazing author and I have read 7 of her books. I think her best works are "The Nightingale" and "Firefly Lane."

It is a very haunting novel.
