Awww... I'm so proud of my African brother. The combination of Indian and African drums was just beautiful. This video made my night!
Thousands of years ago India and Africa were in same land.... then over the years, tectonic plates started moving and India reached where it exist currently.
Yes.. more like millions of years though...
things always get better when shared. be it knowledge, food or arts.
he was awesome
🌍💓🇿🇦💓🇮🇳💓🌍
Actually it’s very nostalgic to see this reaction coz I was a part of this orchestra. I was in the violin section. This was the Sai symphony which was one of the only orchestra which was a fusion of western and Indian music!!! All the Indian musicians were the top classical Indian musicians in the country. Was a real privilege to play with them.
❤️💥
💥❤️
That's sweet. Good job. 👍
Oh wow. Listening to onl do good. Being part of it would have been a profound experience
Loving this.
The african artist is alone facing 3 of them. It's so heart warming to see that crowd is clapping with him creating this beautiful music. 👏👏👏👏
They are all part of the same band!!
It’s not one Vs the other. It’s creating magic together
Love from Indyeah and #BlueSpiceHolidays
Lol why do you give it a bollywood touch 😂
They are doing magic with same TALA with different KALAM on different drums.
Jugalbandhi hai, na ki faceoff
The pots are called "Ghatam" especially made earthen pots for the specific purpose of playing...its an ingrained part of the south indian music culture...
Snigdha Dasgupta how ur comment is showing 3 days ago
@@devjyotirout she stole time turners from department of mysteries before the battle in 1995
And the cylindrical one called "Mridangam"...and the flat small one is "kanjira". All essential part of Carnatic music
Rajasthani music me bhi ye matka bajate h..
@Aditya Bharatharaja Iyer main jaha rehti hu waha ise matka aur ghada hi bolte h...aur ye koi apman nhi...
Kudos to the African artist who competed with 4 different drum styles.... the best thing is his smile and enjoying while doing drums... and iam so glad to see my south Indian drums here.
They're not actually competing against each other, jugalbandi is all about trying to create something magical together.
its not a competition
We Indians have already written these mastery in our Vedas. Wow my African brother omg God. This is the place where all cultures meet. Thank you Rick and simon for such Wonderful channel. You guys are awesome. Love from India 🇮🇳💐
what is "these" and which veda has these "mastery" ?
Mango tree comes from mango .. Written in.. 🤣🤣🤡🤡🤡
Wow the African brother just did amazing all by him self. Beautiful drums overall ❤️❤️👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽
This was in Puttaparthi @ Sathya Sai 's Prashanthi Nilayam Andhra Pradesh. I witnessed this live.
Me too at kulwanth hall, the most peaceful place in the world.......
It was swami's 90th birthday
Yes. You might have heard that tune in Sholay.
And it also used in one Brittany Spears song named "toxic ",probably!
This is shot in a place called Puttaparthi in Andhra Pradesh. This place is a host to schools, colleges, stadiums, worship places. It is known as the birthplace of a man considered as an incarnation of God. The video is shot in the place where hundreds of thousands of people from all over the world gathered to get a glimpse of this man. I studied in this place for 8 years. And it was a great experience.
Anna parthi lo ekkada ?
@@_mr.__4801 prashanti nilayam sathya sai baba ashram
I was personally present there as I was a student it was fantastic.
the "incarnation" died much before he said he would die 🤣🤣🤣🤣
This was beautiful! No competition, no “versus”, but a beautiful transcontinental collaboration, with different percussion styles, and unity in diversity via the unifying influence of music!
In Bengal we have "Dhak" which is an Indian drum beaten with sticks. It is an essential part of Durgapuja, the biggest festival of Bengal.
Is it same to our bihu dhol bro????
@@parthamohan5891 no bro, bengalis also play dhol, but dhak is exclusively for pujas only. The dhol is played both in pujas and folk songs and festivals. The dhak is larger, and played with sticks instead of hands and is played only on one flat surface of the two present in the cylinder, while in dhol both the sides are played.
But I do not know if the bihu dhol is different from Bengali dhol in some respects. If yes, then let me know.
Karaikkudi Mani is a LEGEND. One of the best ever Mridangam players!
He is master who can challenge anyone he had got less publicity consider to others I always listen to him
Even the camera can't pick their finger moments
This was so awesomely beautiful and peaceful at the same time. Both of you especially Korbin put the essence of what you saw into words and feelings quite appropriately spot on which is great because it is in these moments that people forget their differences, restore their uniqueness and merge as one, behaving as they are supposed to creating harmony, goodness, well-being and peace all at once. Thank you so much for viewing this and making it a spectacular experience 🙏😃😍💟🌹
When all Music toppers from different schools sit together.. Its get togethers like these that make the world happy.
This was an original composition written specifically for this performance, this orchestra, and this group of percussionists and vocalists.
Rick was almost having a seizure towards the end 😂
The sync is because they all Carnatic musicians and the base line is strong . Thaalam man .
This happend in Andhra Pradesh Puttaparthi Prasanthi Nilayam
In short, Adobe of peace
This musical feast took place in a sacred place called Puttaparthi where Sai Baba, who is an incarnation of god, was born...... It's the most peaceful place anywhere on the earth.... Devotees from over all around the world(more than 180 countries) throng to this place.... Here there is no discrimination based on caste, relegion, region, colour, sex and nationality.... All are treated equal.... Infact many prime ministers, kings and presidents of various nations visited this place...... Here u can find Hindus, muslims, christians, jains, buddhists and sikhs worship their lord in harmony.... Next time when you visit India.... Plz make a visit to this place and I'm sure you'll experience the supreme bliss by the serene atmosphere of this place...
This concert was held on in Puttaparthi known as "Prashanthi Nilayam". Also I have been there in this very hall many times more than 100 times during my visit as I have visited this city 3 to 4 times all the way from Delhi and it was such great experience there.
Sairam brother🙏
And it was not any kind of Indian VS African drum.....it was just a program concert performed at kulwant hall at prashanti nilayam on a occasion..!!
Finally you have the maestro.
Tabala = Ustad Zakir Hussain
Mridanga = Guru Karaikudi Mani
This is his mild version as he was courteous to the foreigner who isn't carnatic musician.
I was fortunate enough to watch this live.🙏
It's in Puttaparthi a small village in Andhra Pradesh state where Sai Baba lived. Many foreigners all over the world come and stay for few months.
The tune which you are refering to as old Bolly music is actually a tune from song - Affu Khuda from movie Jab Jab Phool Khile sung by legendary Md Rafi. You might have heard this tune in the SRK's Zero movie's trailer.
Also it slightly resembles the tune of "Toxic" by Britney Spears, which is influenced by 3 or 4 old Indian songs.

Love from Indyeah and #BlueSpiceHolidays
That's the beauty of Carnatic music guys.. Never gets old
The african artist is amazing!...the overall orchestra is great
Guys react to Tamil "Parai" Music, which is an Ancient classical music atleast 2500 years old!!!
Did anybody else noticed that the camera's shutter speed was laging due to the fast hand motions.... the speed of there hand specially the African person exceeded which resulted the lag in the hand motion and impact sound from the instrument. It's awesome wish there was more instruments from African side ❤ african folk instruments....
Man, people recommend a lot of good videos here. I've never even imagined I could enjoy drums to be honest. This is great.
After so many days ....one good video
My ears are longing for bangla dhaak now.... Tomorrow is Mahalaya and I miss the feel this year so much 😕😭
Mahalaya and Biswakarma Pujo at the same day...
How crazy.....
I'm so happy you did this review. There is so much talent that goes unnoticed. But you guys clearly respect and value talent. Proud of you both.
If you like this, you will love the movie SARVAM THAALA MAYAM (Translation: Everything is full of rhythm).
I’m not sure how many are commented , the instrument is called “mridangam “. You can see that instrument common across all South Indian cultural events right from marriage , or any bhajan( devotional prayers ) or in any street plays . It’s common .
Yes it's our mangala vaathiyam, also it plays in all big temple during puja time
What a incredible 'Jugalbandi ' by maestro's...African drum master is awesome.....My India is great in culture and music...and you both chooses all classic music from India..it is classical music and we love it...love from India..❤🇮🇳👌👌👌
At 12:00 He is possessed 😂😂
I loved that you guys reacted to this video. The mridangam player Guru Karaikudi Mani is a legend! It's an honor to have met him on several occasions 🙏
Sadly he passed in May 2023. R.i.P. - If you like to hear more of this amazing musician, look for his collaboration with kanjira legend Govinda Harishankar.
11:45 this is at prashanti nilayam kulwant hall puttaparthi
I don't know exactly why but this video reminded me that u guys should watch "AMEN" Malayalam movie.🎺🎷
Just wow.. How fast but clear individual sounds from fingers.. #KaraikkudiThalam from TamilNadu..
Rick and korbin strained their neck after nodding for the drums. The video was damn good. Without knowing music I still amazed and got goose bumps 😊
Clearity of expression of mridunga is unmatchable.
This was amazing and amazing reaction as well🔥
Apart from the great talent in the video, Iam amazed to see the synchronized claps by audience
Elon Musk launches in-brain computer chip
Rick: this is like tap dancing
I died 😂
Iam very present there (7:00)
It was in sai kulwanth hall in puttaparthy......
I was very happy at his performance 😍
Hey guys. Aaron from the UK here. I (try to) play Tabla and it's such a beautiful instrument! If there is one recommendation then again, it will be indian classical related. But please take a listen to Ghei Chhand from Katyar Kaljat Ghusli! The vocals will take your breath away.
I'd requested this video last year. Finally 😌
Do u see how people r encouraging the African gentleman, that's called culture where everyone is considered equal and all are respected. Proud to be an Indian 🙏🇮🇳🙏
There should have been few more partners with this gentleman but I think he is alone sufficient to take on a whole crowd 🙏hats off
Finally one of suggestion got played one of my favorite its always mesmarizing watching colab of music celebrating Africa and India ...Well if you go in depth India was earlier part of Africa might have heard of supercontinent .Africa Brothers in arms Africa & India..Loads of love to my African Brothers n Sisters ..The guy playing drum was awesome kudos to him and all musicians in the concert
Hey… could you please share the link of the original video of this? I couldn’t find it.
Most loving thing ,,is both of you are enjoying ,,,both cultures❤️
I want them to react to "laga chunari mein daag" by Manna Dey.
My love to the audience
You were pivotal and these people were gifted ❤️
Music has no boundaries......such a Mesmerising video to watch...
The person playing Indian instrument miruthangam from Karaikudi is near by my native South India... .. #OSR nice reaction 😍😍😍😍👌👌👌👌👌
The African artist is awesome!! What a fabulous mix of Indian and African percussion!!! I love this jugalbandi!!!👌👍❤️🙏
Please make another video on mean or rather savage comments like the last one😂Love you guys
I feel like I am sitting with you guys and enjoying it ❤️❤️
That's the warmth of this channel ❤
Lots of love (◍•ᴗ•◍)❤
What a content Korbin! Excellent!👌👍Had goosebumps. Really enjoyed it. 🤗
Jugalbandi is neither a face-off nor a chorus....what it really means is the dovetailing of diverse streams of music to generate a rhythm that moves in tandem, the two streams feeding of each other to achieve the crescendo of ecstacy!
Omg... That whistle in the start 😂😂😂
I am from india but african drum is like sound of nature awsomee👍👍👍
Pls review 'Aankho Dekhi' movie.
Beautiful Video, Loved Yours Reaction,,love Rick Love Karbin❤️🇮🇳
I am so lucky that i lived some years in africa, its an amazing life there. If you will hear african music in the streets thats totaly different than this performance. Peoples are crazy for music there.

Its hilarious.
Thnk u for this beautiful vdo.. 😊
You should also check out the Jugalbandi of this video. It's titled Kadri Gopalnath Vol 2 of 7. It's insane.
Hey guys.. You should listen to another percussion instrument called "DHAK" which is from West Bengal. It's an important element of Durga Puja.
The bro from Africa was simply 🔥🔥alone i mean fukin aloneeeeee competing 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Soo glad you reviewed this..... Made my work day come alive!!!!
I JUST LOVE INDIAN N AFRICAN DRUM COMBINATION 😍👌 IT'S FANTASTIC....
What a feast it is... Kudos to both culture's....🙏🙏🙏 Thanks guys for sharing this....
That matka (pot) is normal pot that we drink water or that are special made for like tabla (not to drink water🤣😬😅😅😅)
Special One !! Made with same material but very precisely
It is made of 7 or 8 element including egg yolk and some secret ingredient which only ghatam creater know... It is not normal pot as you can see shine on it...🥰🥰🥰
It's called *Gatham* .
African Drum was basically Indian Dhol 😂😂
Please reaction to "Kahe Chedd Mohe" featuring Madhuri Dixit one of the best drums song ever
They have seen Devdas fully already
Hence they will not react.
Okay
This was so beautiful in its own way. I was just smiling throughout the video ❤️
Our Indian classical so rich rich......
Great, grand fusion of rhythm n jathi n music.... Awesome jugal bandhi.
African drum 🥁😍😍wow
No one beat my indian dhol
I was there and it was EPIC... It was an orchestra with five movements
(if I remember correctly). It was about five years ago and consisted of
musicians from a lot of countries. Here's the full video, starting where
the orchestra approximately begins. It might seem a bit long but it's
totally worth it (ruclips.net/video/OikkZgGwKUU/видео.html)
Thanks for the link to the Source.
U must watch shankar madhuvan singer too he is also a gem
This called music language ❤️ no tongue but feel
Konnakal is the art of performing percussion syllables verbally in Carnatic music it's so much to do with maths.👍👍 Most of the percussion instruments like ghatam, mridangam tabla and khanjira use these konnakal techniques
African young guy is complete with 3 indian legends still croud is clapping for him. And I also love my African brothers and sisters.
There are so many types of drum in india.
He is saying the words which is play on mridhangam
Please react to "Kadri Gopalnath vol 2 of 6". You guys will love it. Percussion instruments at it best.
The above song as a tamil film song acted by savithri and geminiganesan (hindi actress Reha's father) this intrument called Nathaswaram .it is very difficult to play.only certain family practise .the person who played this song was passed away while playing (not for this song)
Clapping .... .Our culture.
