As a long time Mavs fan there is one thing that i have learned. That is to never hype up the team too much cause this Mavs team loses alot when they are expected to win.

#PJ was such a great addition to this team, his toughness, his defense, his inside game and he’s relentless. Can’t wait to see how much he grows this season. Sidenote #DerekLively is my favorite center since #TysonChandler. Side sidenote these 49 days need to chop chop. #LETSGOMAVS
PJ is tough defense, solid outside shooting, and occasional toughness inside. If he improves anything this year, I want it to be his post game. The Mavs need a little scoring and a little rebounding from their PF. His 3pt shots are fine, but with Klay, Grimes and Marshall, what they need is play down low.
His 3 point shot needs to improve.
The Mavs have six three-point shooters at 38% or better. Everybody’s obsession with every player on the floor needing to shoot 3s is ridiculous. The also need someone take the ball to the basket with some power and that’s not going to be Kyrie or Thompson and it shouldn’t be Luka. I would be just as happy Washington got 6 two-point baskets a game as if he made 4 three point baskets. Considering Doncic averages over 70% at the rim, this obsession with 3 point shots borders on insanity. Look at Denver and what Gordon does in the lane. If Dallas had that to complement the three-point shooting, they would be a better offensive team.
Mavs run a very predictable offence. It's usually Luka or Kyrie getting a screen from Lively and then atack the hoop while Livley rolls to the hoop. If the defence is to tight in the key, then they usually kick it out for a 3 which is usually near the end of the shot clock. I reckon running a play or score of the post is a great way of mixing it up. Having Klay running off screens for 3s should add another dynamic to. Hopefully our offence isn't just the same thing all the time.
@@alancrnobrnja3955 it’s not just the way they run the offense, it’s the fact that offenses breakdown and defenses find ways to make it difficult to score. Boston beat the Mavericks because of constant surges of points where Boston scored in Dallas didn’t. It’s a simple as that. Even the first game had a large run in the first quarter where everyone complements KP for dominating or Boston for running away, but the truth is if Dallas has scored four or five buckets during that run, they win the first game of the finals.
Three-point shots don’t always fall, no matter how good a player or a team is. But driving to the rim will always get you a high percentage shot so Dallas needs more of that for those dead spots so teams can’t run away from them. People forget that because they get so excited about three-point shots and these big fast runs. Dallas did their job and held them to 101 per game, but because of a lack of inside scoring their offense broke down and they took too many three-point shots when they weren’t falling. Him getting 2% better from corner threes isn’t going to make them a better team the way him scoring when the outside shooters are struggling will.
@@SDesWriter In the Mavs offense the way it is now, all players need to be able to shoot the 3. You must not have been watching basketball since the 90's.

Watched PJ defend 1's, 2's, 3's and 4's last season. He is an excellent defender. Very hard to get him off his feet with shot fakes. Keeps his hands in tight so doesn't draw reach in fouls. Body's up against the man he is guarding w/o too much contact. He's clinic on defense. Watch him work this year!!
BTW. Nico Harrison knew about PJ from when PJ was in high school. That's scouting.

All we need from PJ is to keep that standing on business attitude that he brings. I was nervous as can be when he first did that but then he backed up again and again. I’m sold PJ is that dog we need. Be a bit more consistent on those 3’s, average 10-12 pts a night. And his value will be blinding any doubters out there. #MFFL
Wanted to add I was only nervous because we have had past Mavs players try and bring that but fell short on the backing it up part of that attitude. PJ said “I’m that dog in this fight” and he never backed down. I love PJ. Let’s see him retire as a Mav as well.
