- Travel days are some of our favorite days, and this one was no different. We started by being interviewed on our first live radio show! Then we went to the airport in Amman, Jordan and visited the nicest Priority Pass lounge we've ever been in. After one last delicious Jordanian meal, we boarded a 1.5 hour flight to our 88th country of Lebanon. As soon as we left the airport, we had a pretty unpleasant experience getting to our hotel...

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this RUclips channel to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling! So we extended our 1 year trip to now FOUR years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before 2020! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)
Kara, you were NOT heated. You were ASSERTIVE! I love, love, love how you handled it. 😂
Agreed I would've gone crazy and panicked!
Absolutely! And those guys knew better than to get in her way thanks to the "no BS" look on her face. Priceless!!!
Seemed like a really sketchy situation and I was slightly concerned. But I agree. Great work Kara👍
No worries, Kara. It made for good RUclips vlogging!
I totally agree! Love you guys so much!
Is it weird that I enjoy seeing the bad experiences too? It’s like I find it interesting how you two deal with bad situations
You are not alone lol
Same
10:45 15$ for a shared ride is way too expensive! Aways take uber when in lebanon because taxi drivers always make... special.... prices for tourists...
yea
They couldn't summon an Uber because their phones had no service.
It's actually better to take a regular taxi in Lebanon instead of an Uber.
Thea Mattar Khoros It depend on your journey, and if you’re a tourist you can still be robbed
Heather Erickson-Sander There are many places with wifi, and anw they can’t take regular taxi if they don’t have mobile service anw
I can always rely on the two of you not to have a boring trip! Great job Kara on being assertive and not putting up with any shenanigans with the taxi! You were firm but polite. A real accomplishment especially at night in a new and unfamiliar country! Why am I not surprised? You are my," awesome couple," after all! Take care and Happy Travels!
John Symons in lebanon you shouldn’t trust taxis better to use uber
I love the sticky note idea! I don't know why they don't just open it, and stamp on an available space that is NOT the center of an empty page!
I like how Kara took in charge and show whose boss!!
Thank you for showing this video on how hectic and troublesome traveling can be....
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. It’s usually the man who does all the tough talking with strangers while the women just watch, especially in Middle Eastern countries. I really admire her strength and courage.
@@artman7780 Why are you talking like middle eastern countries are a scary thing each and every middle eastern country is the most beautiful think you will ever see and all the people are super nice (sorry if i took you in a wrong way tho T_T)
**Update #2: We think it's working now :)
**UPDATE: According to a few comments from people smarter than we are - it is a US server issue. If you use a VPN to "watch from a different country" you should be able to view the video. At least for now. Hopefully it gets fixed soon. Sorry guys!
Many of you are experiencing a "Video Unavailable" message on this vlog - When I log out of our account and click on this video it says the same thing, but when I'm logged in it works. Is this the case with you too?!
I am logged on and still get the same message
I still get video unavailable :(
I'm logged into my account & still says video unavailable :(
I am also logged on and it says the same thing...video unavailable😒
not working :(
Kara is one of the sweetest and calmest persons i've seen.
oh man im so sorry for the sketchy driver😂 we’ve experienced those here many times but i hope you like the country itself❤️ lebanon is more than the stupid taxi’s i promise HAHAHA
Hahah we definitely don't judge an entire country based on one event like that! :)
There are scam taxi drivers in New York airport too, trying to scam the tourists.
They're not stupid
Get it Kara! So proud of you. I’ve definitely been in a sticky cab situation before. Had to put my big girl pants on and stick up for myself. It’s a shame how this is a common thing for travelers. Glad you both made it out safely and I can’t wait to watch the rest of the Lebanon videos.
once again, your ability to remain positive and kind in the most stressful situations is remarkable!
I don't know why but I love your travel days!
Also, you once gave away lounge access and i thought it was a worthless prize to me. Now i realize how great it actually was and the lucky winner of it hopefully was very appreciative of it. I am still yet to go into a lounge but I am working my way up to there.
Thanks guys for sharing your knowledge. Love youz!
Seeing how long you guys have been travelling for, it's good to see that these bad experience occur rarely!!
Haha the ups and downs are unavoidable! At least it's a funny story!
hi im from lebanon and i live in dubai i got so exited to watch this i really miss my country i know you guys probably don't care but yeah love you guys 😂💕
Love the Jordan vlogs
It is Ok to be mad when other people don’t keep their end of the deal or try to con you out of money!
It is also great you guys are able to laugh it out at the end of the travel day. Props to you guys!!! 🎉👍🏻
Don't apologize! I think you did exactly what you should have, and what I think a lot of travelers struggle with. We are taught so much to be polite that we end up ignoring our gut instincts about situations--letting people know in a firm, but still polite way that you are not going to be taken advantage of is such a skill!
Finally!! I was not able to view the video and now thankfully it's viewable.
How surprised were you guys when you got called by a radio station for an interview? So happy for you guys!!
Hope you guys enjoyed Lebanon even after the first bad impression!! I feel it's a wonderful place!!
And after seeing your instagram stories on surfing, I feel I should pack my bags immediately and head for Mexico!!! Would really love to learn to surf one day
YAY glad it's working for you now!!! That gives me hope it will work for everyone soon.
Yes we were very excited to be on our first radio show - who would have thought?!
We do NOT judge all of Lebanon based on one silly taxi experience. It IS a lovely country and we had a great time!!
Come on down to Mexico! 🌞🏄
@@KaraandNate Yes!!!! The first chance I get, I'll be there
Uber/Lyft makes such a difference at airports! I don't miss the airport taxi hustle at all. Good luck exploring!
So glad the issue was fixed...your videos are great. Thank you for showing the good and the bad.
It's always tough to know whether cab drivers are being honest and helpful or trying to rip you off! You guys probably made the right move. On a positive note, that lounge looked amazing!!
im from lebanon, and trust me the food is deleicious especiallly the taboule which is a famous salad we eat. im not saying that bcz im lebanese but its true
gaelle tannous yh you're right
الجماعة تبهدلوا من اول يوم وانت عم تحكيلهن عن الفوووووود؟؟؟؟؟؟
chou esmk insta?
gaelle tannous yeah taboule is my favorite 😍
The only time I had tabouleh here in US it was like eating grass. The parsley was overpowering. Wonder if the authentic one tastes better
Oh boy... we experienced the same thing with the taxis at this airport. We booked one and he tripple the price. 😳 He wanted $75 and we agreed on the app for $20. Just crazy. I left Tyler with only $20 to pay him and walked away because I knew it what was coming. Taxis are the worst!!!
Oh I remember watching the radio interview on your Instagram!!
Completely love how honest you guys are but at the same time so positive in your approach! :) ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Eeeeeekkk guys being interviewed on radio is so EXCITING 😄😄 a lounge with dates is the dream! Those sticky notes are genius! YIKES you've got to love those funny travel moments when stuff just doesn't go to plan!
You did not get heated! You were absolutely brilliant and it was so good to see. I was really happy you did that and got out of the taxi. High fives to you.
You call that getting heated? If you do that is the most pleasant heat I've ever seen. You guys can win anyone with just talking and that's what I love.
It worked! I got to watch the very eventful trip to Lebanon. I'm glad you got to your hotel safely. That was scary and Kara is a beast when pushed. Way to go.
You two are so lucky to have each other. ❤️ I love solo traveling, but in taxi scam and other shady situations, it would be SO NICE to have someone else by my side to talk it through with and have one person step up and do the negotiating and the other be assertive at another time so you can each get a break from dealing with the craziness haha
Kara is #goals!
Lmao!!! Kara I actually loved seeing your spicy side. You are such a sweet heart but you also don't take any crud from anyone. Love it!! I was over here yelling, "get em' Kara" lol
During the taxi scene,Kara was taking full control 😎 and I think Nate was like 😖
True.. 😀
Nano has been your best little sidekick for this trip. The unsung hero in the background translating, helping photograph and document. 💛
WOWZERS. Welcome to Lebanon, huh. You guys are incredibly brave. I got to tell you, I wouldn’t want to mess with Kara when she’s a little irritated. Thank you for sharing your adventure.
I hope you guys didn’t let that experience ruin Lebanon for you. It’s beautiful, very cultured and the food is amazing ♥️ ENJOY
I've also put Post-It notes in our passports. An immigration officer in Vienna really liked the idea as well.
You can never be too careful Kara, I totally understand you getting assertive. Being firm is sometimes quite necessary. Glad you are both safe. And look forward to seeing the sights and sounds of Lebanon. 😊💖
I love that you give such a real perspective!
Travel is just making you a stronger, more street smart woman Kara. You were lovely to the driver because he didn't do anything wrong but you have to be assertive or you're going to be taken advantage of. You're a great role model for other people who want to travel 💕
I'm from Lebanon
❤🇱🇧🇱🇧🇱🇧🙏😘😘😘
"Travel is the key to perfect smile" that really relies on you love ya kara and nate
😍😍
Oh my gosh you guys.... That taxi experience was scary! Glad you are safe and I can't wait to see what's next. Have a blast!
How times have changed in these beautiful places
Kara, that's literally the first time I have seen you even slightly upset! Thanks for showing that side of travel - and those of us who are nowhere near as patient and good natured as you feel better!
Everytime I go to JFK and walk by their lounge I think of you guys haha...Loved this Vlog!
12:48
Note to self: NEVER upset Kara 🤣
Loved the Jordan vlogs! Can’t wait to see everything that’s coming next!
Kara, when she's mad and upset, defines the sort of person you don't want to upset.
Now imagine being married to that
@@kkOSU27 would love it, I know I can count on her and not be worried toouch about her.
*Ugh dealing with local taxis with no Uber access can be such a pain. Glad you guys got there safely!*
Food and Footprints not true, i am lebanese and i am telling you not true, they were just unlucky
Ali Kourany Meant more in general in any city, not specific to Lebanon. Where we live in NYC we avoid taxis and use Uber/Lyft too
Food and Footprints i am actually from newyork too hahah. To br honest i know what u mean! But in lebanon they could have got where they wanted just paying 10$, as i said they were unlucky and as for uber in lebanon it is a rip! If you are taking a local taxi it is 2$ for a ride for both of them also. As for uber u gotta pay 10$ or more! And as for local taxis they are usually older or elder people who just wanna make a living and who can usually take u to places u never can reach as a tourist
Ali Kourany Cool you’re from NY too! Good to know - thanks for sharing that info. We really want to go to Lebanon someday - it is high on our list!
Food and Footprints if it happens that u want to go there and i am there i would be glad and more than happy to show you around or have you guys as guests at my place, and trust me you will have a way better experience with somebody who lived all his life there, if you are willing please contact me i would be glad to give u the ultimate experience with my fiancé she is a bomb and she loves to go to many places hahaha not like me ahhaha so if u want tell me how we can contact eachothers
Love the realism of your videos❤️
Haha I'm so glad! 👏😊
I am also in Beirut, arrived 5th of April and i also have same problem at airport with taxi, they were asking 45$(usd) for 6 miles and I waited for while to check other taxi and one local guy ( who was coming from Saudi Arabia) asked me where are you going then we have little chat and he offered me free side to my hotel. It was first time somebody gave me free ride. Other than that Lebanon super nice. People are very friendly. There is no scam, they are very honest . And I feel very safe. I took public transport. Food is good too.
Loved the radio station footage. So cute!
I love that Kara got heated. It shows you guys have learned from all of your travels. This would be a good random video to do. Just on scams and don’t dos. You can’t be super nice all the time.
Also, would love a packing special video. Like do you guys ship clothes home and throw away old pieces, those types of things.
Kara you handled that a lot better than I would have and you guys are amazing xxx
I've been in lebanon twice and in my experienced the best month to visit is march... i love watching u guys😍
Kara, I wish I could just put you in my pocket and bring you everywhere with me☺️ You’re just the cutest thing!!
I love travel days and seeing new lounges and this one was quite fancy for sure!! Can’t wait to see what this country has in store for y’all and the food of course😋
Stay you 😘
You're the best, Heather! Thanks for always brightening our comments section! :)
Kara and Nate ☺️☺️☺️
I'm actually proud that you did that Kara..too many people will just walk all over you unless you stand up for yourself.. it needed to be said and you were firm enough f0r him not to take advantage..or get away with trying to take advantage.
That's called Tennessee Tenacity!!!!! Your handled that well. Girl you got some hood in ya. Lol
Incidents like this are the ones that you will remember later and laugh about them :) This is what makes traveling so exciting!
Exactly!
Yay lebanon. I've been waiting for this
Thanks for your patience ❤❤❤
Yeahh me too
@@KaraandNate Thanks for youf vlogging
OMG I would’ve left ... that taxi too! Everything is so sketchy..to just sit in a taxi and wait.. Fantastic job Kara 👍👍👍👍👏👏👏
You guys are awsome!!! I've been binge watching you guys shows starting from very beginning and loving them😍😍😍
I love your assertiveness, Kara! 👏
I have mad respect for you Kara. You are so gorgeous, classy, and fun, but when it's time for things to get real, you know how to get real. Love it! Nate is so lucky to have a travel companion like you lol
You 2 were more patient & kind than I would have been. 👍 you did great
Love your videos I was inspired by your trip to Columbia I am going this October 😊
Woohoo! Enjoy! :)
Lebanon is my favorite country in the world (and I have been to more than 60). I m sure you will love it. People are friendly, has some great sights from the sea to the mountains, has amazing mind blowing non-stop food.
SO GLAD YOU UPLOADED AGAIN!! ☺️😍 loving your videos!!
Btw HI KARA AND NATE!!! You’re both such an inspiring and beautiful couple! ❤️
Augh, I lived in Jordan for a year and LOVED it! I spent two weeks visiting Lebanon and hated it. I feel ya, guys.
ive never been this early i just finished bingeing all ur previous vlogs!!! love u guys!!!
What'd you think? Thank you 💞
Great job handling the taxi situation! FYI - the first few times I went to Israel, Border Control asked me if I wanted my passport stamped or if I would like the stamp on a separate piece of paper. The last time I went to Israel (last Fall) they did not stamp my passport - they gave me a small, printed card to keep inside my passport with my entry date, approved length of stay, etc.
Beirut, THE PARIS OF THE MIDDLE EAST, I’m sooooooooo excited to watch the next episodes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That was really scary and something you never hope would happen to you. Truly, it’s good you got out of that man’s car and got to your hotel safely! This is how tourists go missing.
That was definitely a weird taxi experience. Thanks for sharing it with us!
Can't wait to see more videos in Lebanon , I will be there in 10 days ! Love you guys ! You are the best !
Mary Basta we just came back last week. Best time ever! Lebanon is not what you think.

Greetings from an expat living in Amman. I love you guys. I love how honest and open you are. Xoxo
That taxi situation was very sketchy, but that apartment is beautiful! And YAAAAS to Kara for putting her foot down! Can’t wait to see Lebanon through your guys’ lens!
Random detail but I love that key card in your hotel in Lebanon. When it was in that little slot it turned the lights on. Handy for not leaving on the lights when you're out and not misplacing your keys
Wowa seeing Kara like that I was like YES GIRL YOU DO YOU!! Love it! Love your videos, really amazing.
This is why I love to travel...the experiences!! It all worked out thank goodness but now you have the memories!
Ok ok ok you got me, I joined Priority Pass. Ten flights booked in the next six months so I'll definitely get my money's worth.

Taxi hustlers at transport hubs around the world - ruining first image of a nation one country at a time
imagine being rushed from behind by a hustler in lebanon (not tryin to throw shade at any country) but have you seen india?! they have hustlers for DAYZ
@@daviotw Oh my worst experience was tuktuk drivers in Delhi
Nate seems really positive minded person and u both look adorable as a couple. Most countries has these taxi scams for tourists.
welcome to lebanon i never know somebody that i like come to lebanon love you 🥰
I’m so sorry you had to experience our crappy taxis and Ubers, they always make “special” prices for tourists. I hope you come again and you see how beautiful Lebanon is. Thanks for visiting can’t wait to have you guys back again!!!
Love this!! The taxi situation definitely looked stressful, but glad you made it eventually! Kara where is your backpack from? It looks so good☺️
I am Lebanese when I come back to Lebanon if I don’t have friends or family picking me up I get stressed out because I know I have to deal with the taxi guys outside.
Good for you Kara! Taxi's are always my biggest anxiety while travelling and sometimes you have to be assertive to avoid a bad situation. I've reacted far worse to sketchy taxis so there is no need to apologize!
Love u guys .best wishes from india😊😊🤗🤗
Glad you’re in Lebanon!!! I know you had a rocky start but trust me you’re gonna love Lebanon because it’s really like no other country in the Middle East... at all. So please enjoy it as much as you can 💕❤️
Taxis in Lebanon bulk up the price to x10 when they see non lebanese people lmao
We are here too from Australia, will be awesome to cross paths. Lebanon is amazing you will love it.
