- Fatslob is known for going for lots of stone walls. Well in this game I decided to do the same in a competitive match... Will it prove to be successful or be a fail? Hope you enjoy this one and give me your thoughts on it!

@@buildingblog9162 I haven't tried with DE, but I play AoEII HD no problem through Wineskin, creating a wrapper with just Steam on my Mac

you can get the free version of windows 10 from the official site all you need is a usb of 16 gb space

This may be the best AOE2 video I've ever seen. What an incredible ride! The micro in that final fight with the arborists and lancers was unbelievable! I couldn't believe T90's arbs would melt like that. What a legendary fight though! Amazing!

The balance between game sounds and mic are fine. But overall volume is very quiet compared to ads/other channels.

Feedback on the Audio: it was lower than I would think. Every time an ad came up my ears would hurt cuz the volume difference is huge.
This was a great game to watch. Quirky strats, massive swings~ Good times. As well as another reminder that mistakes like mis-judging fights and leaving holes and weak points in your walls show up at all levels of the game, from top hundred to examples in Hidden Cup to your humble Low Elo Legends.

I love the vululu's, but you need to find someone to turn the sound on the mod down a bit.

I would love to see more of you trying this strategy, but anyways I enjoy youtube because of cherry-picked games! I really can't spare time to watch random streams, so I like your way of trying to keep the headlines informative (at the same time you need to keep those youtube sexy I heard your thoughts on the matter on one vid and well done!) I like when you name your videos having some pointer to a series when possible like Low ELO Legends #x for example, makes it a lot easier to find older videos that I'v missed and would like to see about the same (think how many of them there are and will be and someone new finds your videos in 2030 and is like where is the rest :,D Also the voice might be a bit low, maybe 10 or 20% more volume? Just compared to some other vids btw you can do it your self too to hear your self! :,D Keep up the good work!

Regarding the audio: one hack (if you use video editing software that allows you to add audio tracks) is to have the audio tracks duplicated. It's not the best solution, but if it isn't possible for you to change your setup to facilitate a higher standard volume, this might work for you.
...oh, and let me take this opportunity to thank you. Your videos, and SotL's, convinced me to buy AoE2:DE a few months ago. I don't play it often, but when I do, I have some good fun.

Ever since Twest made the video about the resource distribution, I can't unsee how broken it is.
I have a feeling that korean would be a very good civ for walling other out. stone bonus(forget weather it upgrade or faster gathering), longer range Mangonel. and their vill have longer sight so they can quick wall earlier too.

Nice Video, nice attempt.
But what you tried here was not a ,,Legend of Fatslob" strategy but a ,,Legend of WALL" strategy. While WALL uses his ressources more agressively to wall his enemies in at their base and bring the fight at his oponent's door, Fatslob uses his walls defensively less to wall an enemy inside the enemy's base but use the walls around his own base to buy himself time to prepare and boom.
Is WALL still kicking though?

About the wall-in strat: I doubt high elo players would find this viable, because it's such a high-risk option. It's so easy to spot if your scouting is good. It's so resource demanding. I just wouldn't see this being part of the meta...It's nice when someone pulls it off, but it's very very risky.
do you not use grid mod? definitely helps identify those holes.
T90, easy solution for not having a stone gate hotkey (since no one has one) Make it whatever your palisade gate hotkey is + alt (or ctrl, etc)
I agree litus are busted, but out of all the broken units in this game that people are okay with, i def think we should let a Civ like Lithuanians get away with it
A week ago I found out the name "Fatslob" probably originates from a Garfield comic strip, where a spider call Garfield a fatslob.
Leitis look like a fair and balanced unit. Still a very entertaining WWFSD game. About the sound levels, I feel like your voice needs a bit of a boost, it feels quieter than usual

why not get a siege tower and lunch two set of vills to the outside? you can then build military buildings and TC outside.
The biggest bruh moment was T90 saying he didn't have a Stone Gate hotkey. Like he's the very first I have heard saying he doesn't use them.

I was actually bumping up the volume on my computer because the little youtube slider was maxed, then you said you had your new audio setup. :p Its kind of quiet. The quality seems the same, still good.

I think if you commit to this strat of walling your opponent in, you should overcommit with it and to have already built a 2nd layer, as also walling in the wood lines

Entertaining vid. Leitis super OP until they balance with a higher gold cost or some stat nerf.
The overall volume is slightly on the quiet side and the monks are too loud. I get the vululu meme but it's sort of annoying.

It's noisy because it gets the player's attention - it's to make it easier to know where the Monks are/that there's Monks, not for the viewer's benefit.
The meme's just a nice bonus.
@@flygonbreloom The regular wololo is fine and yes is obviously necessary, but this mod which is a recording of one of the players (I forget which) is obnoxious.

Besides fatslob would go for 4 to 7 layer walls vs the enemy succesfully trapping him in and fatslob knows if there's no more stone then palisade & houses are cheapest replacement
Let me do the math and logic here:
Logic:
1 Fortified wall owns 1 square of space and gets alot of HP
Sooo 1 house owns 4 squares there for HP per square(IF YOU WANT TO USE HOUSE AS A WALL) is down by 4 to simply speak: 4 palisade walls = 1 house in term of space being taken but those walls have x4 HP ammount
Mathematically speaking in same space ammount(4 squares):
Math:
4 palisade walls = 1k hp (1 palisade wall = 1 square on the map)
House = 550 HP (1 house = 4 squares on the map)
Siege Workshop = 600 HP (1 Siege Workshop = 12 squares on the map)
Market = 600 HP (1 market = 12 squares on the map)
Castle = 1600 HP (1 castle = 12 squares on the map)
Math to do to know flat HP building durability per square = Building HP / Squares on the map

For the fight at 28:20 , the enemy is on the hill during the first half of the fight. If it was the opposite the outcome would have been completely different and we would be saying "archers are OP" ^^.

My first ever online game was an arena match. the opp walled me, then walled me, then bombard towered me....... Wasn't a fun first game 😂
T90: why not go Chieftans? Of course Arbs won't beat Leitis for the same reason Knights are strong against Crossbows. But at least Berzerks move fast and have bonus damage against cavalry. You can also pair that with a ton of Scorpions.
Why did you continue to make Arbs when you saw most of his army was mounted units? Massed Halbs would have helped a lot
Arbs when they are enough to melt any other unit. But he took some bad fights, lost a lot of them to mangonels... He was a few time close to the "critical mass", but it was only close.
Also the problem with massed Halbs is that they are trash against anything which isn't cav, and have the same weakness than Arbs: skirmishers (and also mangonels). So making an expensive switch to a defensive unit with the same weakness as your offensive unit is unwise.
If he wasn't Viking he could have used light cav. They are good at "holding the line" (for trash units at least), giving time for Arbs to work, and they counter the two obvious weaknesses of the arbs: skirmishers and mangonels. But Viking is really bad with cav... I guess the best way would have been to add more monks (and a few pikemen to cover them for cheap) to punish the heavy cav play, but it's a hard choice to make because he needed the gold to mass arbs...
