I think the reason for all the TCs and Stone walls/gates from Red is because he's expecting to get overrun/raided so this way he is ensuring that at least part of his economy will still be functional in those events. It's a good point about the scorpions though, it probably would not be effective to use galleons / longboats on that pond, or only a few, because of the scorpions and the lack of space. I think the elite cannon galleons could be really effective though. I see them much like trebuchets with one less range, but a higher movement speed and without the need to pack/unpack them. I'd put the docks at the very back of the pond and keep ~10-15 elite cannon galleons there. Walls go near the middle of the pond (two rows with a one tile gap, to allow repairs inbetween), and have castles and towers full of archers 2-3 tiles behind those walls, in line with the back of the pond. Maybe add a few random sections of wooden palisades in front just to add to the chaos in a cost-effective way. Any infantry which dares to approach the walls would just get shredded by the castles behind them, and the enemy trebuchets (or any other siege) could not come in range of the walls (much less the castles or docks) without being fired upon by cannon galleons. Since you can also repair the walls in the midst of all that, the attacker basically has to neutralize the pond before an attack on the walls becomes possible - or treb through the woods somewhere else entirely.

T90, that thing you talk about fatslob, that he's the one constant that despite the world going to shit reminds you that life goes on, that thing are your videos to me. My life has been flipped upside down this year but every one in a while I can still check YT and watch a good fatslob game with your commentary over it, feels like talking to a friend.
T90, you’re a great speaker. A good speaker talks about what is on their mind. A great speaker talks about what is in their heart. Don’t have anyone else tell you otherwise!
My guess to why Fatslob walls with his three starting vills is because if you were to send your scout or vills down at the very beginning of the game you might be able to walk over one of the unbuilt ones if you're fast enough if he only sent 1 or 2. Notice he sends one to build the far left side, one to make the center, and one to make the far right side? This way all the walls come up really fast and prevent anyone from crossing it early on.
I don't think he does that manually though - when you send multiple villagers to build a wall segment, the game automatically distributes them along the segment so it all gets built evenly. But yeah, sending all 3 helps make sure nobody sneaks in.
I'm not a regular regular viewer, but I sincerely hope you can keep doing this as long as you want to. You are the core of the Age of Empires community as I know it today, both driving the esports community with Hidden Cup, bringing in the average player with community games, and creating content for all the old nostalgic people who barely (if at all) play anymore.
Feel like i watched your vids as a teenager along with spirit. Glad to see youre still doing content ! Im so happy AoE is popping off again all thanks to the community who stuck with it and the content creators like yourself.
45:15 Idk why, but the moment the Scorpion army pulls out from the shadow (FoW) and slaughters the baited infantry is so cinematic. Like, imagine it as a movie, this will be the 'OH SHIT' moment where the general smirks and release the signal, and the sky is instantly filled with Scorpion bolts whistling toward the pursuing army.
I picked up AoE a few years ago as I was finishing college but have not played or watched much since graduation. I will always watch any more Hidden Cup and Fats lob videos :D
I just love everything about Fatslob games, including the slight frustration when his opponents succumb to his META. And the commentary was so wholesome. May the man himself sustain your viewership with lopsided relic counts and give you shelter behind his walls!
Woo! Fatslob matches are fun to watch! And thank you for your grind T90! You make me re fall in love with this game, even if 20 years later im still a noob!
Hey T90 I really appreciatd that talk about struggling. It was wholesome and a nice reminder and comforting :')! (Also glad fatslob is still gaming :3!!!)
I think in this video Fatslob was even wondering “why are you not attacking me?” The only thing that he seems better, imo, is like you said his micro handling of his siege. Other than that, same guy, same strategy. But yea, there is some sort of giddie giddie moment when a Fatslob video emerges. In the beginning I was worried he would lose, towards the end, I longed for a longer fight. ... what the hell with those walls in back for Red. Everybody knows Fatslob uses siege.
Soviet Russia lost 27milion citizens, of them 8milion military, not just defending desperately, but arguably more desperately so launching endless waves of counterattacks, at least of third of which where utterly pointless from military perspective. The Eastern front was anything but static. This game looked more like Western front, France. A whole lot of nothing, and then swift crushing defeat at the end.
Love these relaxing fatslob videos, along with T90 check-ins and storytimes. My girlfriend doesn't play AoE, but she still quotes the anemia story, and also the infamous closet story. You're a great young man T90, keep on being you.
I could understand the gates If you where worried about someone cutting and flooding in eagles or huscarls to harass your eco But against Vikings and more importantly fatslob I don't understand it
hey 190, i'm one of those guys that comes to your channel every now and then to check for new fatslob videos and watches them to have some chill videos during work :) you kinda inspired me to get further into Age and i'm now regularly playing the OOOOOOL' "2 buds and me against bots" :) thank you for the content!
the thing Capture Age does with counting Kills per Unit - wouldnt it kinda be cool to integrate that with the actual game (maybe with a mod), ie increase the strength of units once they reach a specific kill number? eg. + 10% HP every 50 kills
Haven't watched the channel for a little while since I discovered this community (I like to check out communities), and I thought I'd pop in for a Fatslob game, after seeing AOE2 videos in the sidebar of one of Vaush's videos. Never played the game, so I wouldn't be able to follow much of anything by myself, so the commentary is huge for me. Always keeps me interested. Edit: Oh, looks like I already watched this video over a year ago and commented the above. Didn't remember. Fantastic video. I'm glad Fatslob didn't make a new account or something when he was getting a lot of attention.
Personally i do not understand red's strat He definitely could have gone full boom with like 170-190 vills which he did out boom until about 50 mins when fat slob had more vills. Then making sure he had many military buildings he could overwhelm him. And yes when the attack comes in he can then delete like 100 vills. Plus he did not push to get that 3rd relic and gold. Walling the tc's in the corner did nothing. The castles back was decent idea. I think if you have 10 times the resources a mix of say infantry and siege would have done it.. Just bleed him dry of gold and the fact you had 1 hour of just out booming him would have done it.. And really the guy had 20 trebs all could have been used to cut through the forest faster.. if he worries about being attacked build some wooden walls or etc to slow down any attack.
Dude, that's really surreal. In my life I never had any guarantee but in some way it worked. I did study forest engineering but life brought me to be a photographer. I tried other things in life but I didn’t got any result about it.

With the mustache he has now, I could see T90 being a lemonade barker. "Citrus while you sit, yes!" "Lemonade, cold refreshing lemonade!"
Red wasting his gold to buy stone was a big factor in this one
T90, that thing you talk about fatslob, that he's the one constant that despite the world going to shit reminds you that life goes on, that thing are your videos to me. My life has been flipped upside down this year but every one in a while I can still check YT and watch a good fatslob game with your commentary over it, feels like talking to a friend.
T90, you’re a great speaker. A good speaker talks about what is on their mind. A great speaker talks about what is in their heart. Don’t have anyone else tell you otherwise!
Dont forget hes 70 y old playing aoe2 , respect!
Big Brain play
I don't think he does that manually though - when you send multiple villagers to build a wall segment, the game automatically distributes them along the segment so it all gets built evenly. But yeah, sending all 3 helps make sure nobody sneaks in.
I'm not a regular regular viewer, but I sincerely hope you can keep doing this as long as you want to. You are the core of the Age of Empires community as I know it today, both driving the esports community with Hidden Cup, bringing in the average player with community games, and creating content for all the old nostalgic people who barely (if at all) play anymore.
50 seconds in and fatslob has already walled
and i have nice warm feeling in my chest now
44:42 fatslobs army slowing moving through the fog to reds base is the most epic thing ever. Ty t90
After a few years you may be able to transition into AOE 4
Feel like i watched your vids as a teenager along with spirit. Glad to see youre still doing content !
Im so happy AoE is popping off again all thanks to the community who stuck with it and the content creators like yourself.
i just love that this guy plays his games his way and most people play along its also closer to what people who dont play comp like about the game
I will always watch any more Hidden Cup and Fats lob videos :D
see thumbnail
turn to 1.5 speed
I was surprised how watchable it is 1.75 or even 2 speed
17:03 was so nice because of what he said before that. So spot on haven't checked on in awhile knew I'd come here n he actually spoke about it haha x
No one talking about how my boy said he doesn't think he can do this for life...
really appreciate the words of encouragement, T90. composure under pressure is a big part of this game and it helps irl too
"I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.
"
- Bruce Lee
The quote says punch instead of kick, my bad i did copy only without read, didn't think about someone else want to make a parallel universe with this.
I don't know why, but for some reason this game and exactly this commentary was what I needed today. Keep up the good work T90!
I love some fatslob because it is how I played as a child. Lots of nostolgia. I will watch his games to completion when I notice a new one.
I wasn't expecting to get such a wholesome and sweet little chat from a Fatslob AoE2 commentary, but I do appreciate it.
Got into this game again after playing as a kid about three months ago, your videos are some of the most entertaining vids I watch on RUclips 👍
Fog of war: *exists*
Fatslob: It's free real estate
I think in this video Fatslob was even wondering “why are you not attacking me?”
The only thing that he seems better, imo, is like you said his micro handling of his siege.
Re the walls: it is called deep defenses - he is trying to copy what the Soviet Union did in WW2.
It's also very similar to AOEIII defensive play
Except the Reds didn't just wait at Moscow. They tried to keep the frontline.
Fatslob seems to be the goths of black forest; either you stomp him or he stomps you
Love these relaxing fatslob videos, along with T90 check-ins and storytimes. My girlfriend doesn't play AoE, but she still quotes the anemia story, and also the infamous closet story. You're a great young man T90, keep on being you.
Love watching fatslob by far my favorite youtube content.
I can't believe this game is still relevant. Definitely going to bring back my childhood by starting up again now that I have a pc. Awesome
Fatslob's constancy makes him a cosmic anchor in these stressful times. Thanks for the video. (Oldster Glory).
There is something comforting in the pixels. Reminds me of AoE gold edition I used to play on windows98.
I could understand the gates If you where worried about someone cutting and flooding in eagles or huscarls to harass your eco
But against Vikings and more importantly fatslob I don't understand it
hey 190, i'm one of those guys that comes to your channel every now and then to check for new fatslob videos and watches them to have some chill videos during work :) you kinda inspired me to get further into Age and i'm now regularly playing the OOOOOOL' "2 buds and me against bots" :) thank you for the content!
the thing Capture Age does with counting Kills per Unit - wouldnt it kinda be cool to integrate that with the actual game (maybe with a mod), ie increase the strength of units once they reach a specific kill number?
Red maybe is being raided often so he needs tc to get villagers inside and gates so villagers get through while the soldiers don't
Say what you will, but that boar lure at 4:05 is the most perfect one I have ever seen.
Personally i do not understand red's strat
He definitely could have gone full boom with like 170-190 vills which he did out boom until about 50 mins when fat slob had more vills.
You should try to get Fatslob on your channel for an interview, I'd love to hear this guys story.
Dude, that's really surreal. In my life I never had any guarantee but in some way it worked. I did study forest engineering but life brought me to be a photographer. I tried other things in life but I didn’t got any result about it.
By the way, I am Brazilian, 28, used to watch AoE2 matches at a lan house back in 2004 when in was 12-13, then years ago I found your channel, but I’ve lost the contents for 2 years that RUclips didn’t recommended me it anymore and I’m back watching your videos because recently I saw an ad(about some game that have aoe2 sprites) and looked for that channel that I used to watch... great to be here again. Thank you
Been awhile, Thanks for the Fatslob game, cheers T90
My brother and I used to play roleplaying strategy games with AoE.We would have our own kingdoms, and at times there would be wars over very specific parts of the map and we'd have massive battles outside our towns, and the winner would have an advantage when we'd negotiate the peace terms.
started playing AOE2 2 months ago, and somehow youtube realized that and introduced me to you. Nice vids men ! Love them
Are you using googlehome/alexa and similar gadgets? Now you know how
"That's some quality micro", said while FatSlob is losing three onagers to one. :D
11:55 lmao Tristen is like a puppy. Also 15:45 and 17:00 oml Tristen is to pure. And Tristen is right this community is truly special.
The reverse Fatslob strategy:
Nobody plays Fatslob until he is willing to plan another map. It's the wall he can't break xD
It's just too tempting tho. He's not a legend for nothing.
I love you T90.
Red is compartmentalizing his economy to avoid raids on it. Meanwhile, he himself was getting ready to raid Fatslob's economy with cavalry.
Cause he doenst know fatlsob then cause he no raid he razes.
Honestly, the only thing that cut down on my viewing of your youtube content was watching a lot of the videos live as they happened on twitch. RUclips exclusive content? I'm all over it!
I've watched over 20k youtube vids and am able to quickly filter good channels you sir are a great host and creator. I've not played AoE in over 20 years but clocked a lot of hours and this really brings back memories
Such wholesome content! Love when you do the heart stuff T90. You're a gem. Don't ever stop friend!
AoE2 was my very first Computer Game.
Back at that time, I didn't know how to play online. TCP/IP? Direct Connect? LAN?
I have my fond memories of AoE2 spending ALL of my time in the Editor, building scenarios, stories and campaigns for myself.
It was my first step into mapmaking and scripting, too, which later got me into mapmaking for C&C Generals. as well as modmaking.
It's nice to see how others enjoy their game and create their fond memories.
Hey super happy for ya T90, making content that you love is the dream. Thats my goal as well, completely relate to working/doing what you love. Keep up the fantastic work, your by far my favorite castor 🔥
You merely adopted the walls, i was born in them, molded by them
Watching the scorps melt red's berserk line is so satisfying
I respect your perspective. i just wanna say your a good person man. i can so relate to Fatslob. sometimes its just enjoying little things in life.
The age of empires community is just really nice.I always come back to this, just because it's so peaceful and it takes my mind off of things. Keep it up man.
good to hear from you man on the personal side! keep up the good work!
Fair play to you T90. A lot of people in this world don’t go after what they really want to do(me included so far)
Keep it up man👌
Finally a new Fatslob game. Just got out of bed, saw the upload and went straight back to the bed to watch it. Keep up the great content and the streams. And you are more inspirational than you think
