    I'm catching up on my detention lol. Great video Doni. As i mentioned on someone else's post, i love seeing the progression of storage systems people go through as they delve deeper in the craft. I love the Elizabeth Ward and the Harbor Freights but i was recently inspired to do my own storage system, i'll be trying it out soon and i'll share for all to see.

    What I have found to work good is the 28 unit containers for each wip. For after storage containers, I have medicine bottles from the pharmacy that I have labeled with the DMC numbers. I have a underbed craft crate that I store them in. 2 crates, 1 labeled round and the other labeled square. I could never do more than one wip at a time, it would drive me insane. Good that you can handle it.

    • @DPbyDoni

      Handle it? haha I'm cheating myself the fun of it because I want to hurry and get them done so that I can get back to one of the other ones that I have going and I always feel that I have to do them in a certain order. It actually drives me insane now! 🤣😹😊💖

    When I only started it was a couple of small ones. So I ended up snipping the corner of each and and just sat them up right in some ramekins.
    I now have the cases that I use and have moved onto the bigger diamond paintings.

    Have the same storage system. On Amazon you can buy DMC stickers (DMC numbers correspond with most diamonds/beads but not all) numbers on them to label boxes. I use these storage containers for leftovers. The diamonds that don’t have DMC, usually I use an alternative storage. I use the little bottles for each project. I use Avery brand sticker labels, they are small like price tags, they have multiple sheets in the package and they fit just right for the top of the bottles. I write the symbols and the numbers on the little Avery stickers first then stick them on the lids. These peel off pretty easy, so I just use new labels for the next project. I do write on the labels first and then stick them on the top of the lids. Just wanted to share.... Thanks for the video.

    • @DPbyDoni
      @DPbyDoni  6 лет назад

      This is probably a much more economical route to go. I don't absolutely NEED the preprinted labels. I have to keep reminding myself of that. A lot of them I have used the blank ones anyway since I am so up in the air about how I want to organize everything. Removing stickers would be a much easier way to go from one project to the next, compared to rubbing off all that permanent ink, also! Thanks for the tips. I welcome your voice here :)

    I use mini envelopes, coordinating them and putting the envelopes into ziplock bags numerically by the hundred or thousand color code. All the 100's into one ziplock, the 200's into another and so forth. The envelopes I close with paperclips. Anytime I need a number I look at the ziplock bags until I find the right code category, then look through my numerically arranged envelopes until I find the number. No spills and no seals wearing out. Easy to keep out of the way too. The mini envelopes I buy on Amazon

    I'm just a beginner to diamond painting, and after watching videos out on youtube it's amazing to see so many of you put the leftover diamonds in storage containers and don't expect to use them again. Really? I figure if I have several projects that used black diamonds, I'd stick them together in the same container and if I started a new project and it had black diamonds, I'd mix them together. After all, they are the same color! I wouldn't, however, mix round diamonds with square diamonds.

    • @gabrisstitches8038
      @gabrisstitches8038 5 лет назад +1

      Debbie, if only they’d be the same colour. Despite having the DMC standard to guide the factory as to the end result, each uses their own formula to apply to the resin to make that colour. Because of that, there could be differences between drills of different factories, even between batches at the same factory. There may be situations where the colours “match” but I don’t take the chance, I make sure I have enough of the same batch. Otherwise I end up with clear delineation on the canvas and no one wants that.

    Is it really necessary to keep the drills after you finish a painting (especially if you seal it)? I’m new but think I’ll finish them as I go rather than having many going at once and since it sounds like the dye may be different across paintings (even if the numbers are the same), you shouldn’t really reuse them. My first two paintings are square full (with DMC numbers) and round full (no DMC numbers). Thank you!

    I found small snap-top jars that come 8to a package and medium snap-top jars that come 6 to a package at Dollar Tree. I find that they work great for me and at 6-8 per pkg is not a bad deal. I write the letters &symbols on an index card, then cut it out and tape it to the jars. Next I'm gonna buy an empty tackle box to put them all in. Just yesterday, Christmas Eve, I received my order of 10 diamond paintings I bought at Annebuy.com . I explain this in one of my other videos (I don't remember which one lol) , but in short, yes. You may be short drills on another painting and it saves time and a headache from trying to get replacement beads from the seller. Also, if for some reason a bead or two falls off or gets knocked off, you will have your leftovers to replace it with.

    • @DPbyDoni
      @DPbyDoni  5 лет назад

      For the most part, they all use the DMC color line. However, they do use different dye lots so the colors may not match perfectly every time. This is why I have my DMC color chart to file away my leftovers and then compare any new leftovers against it to make sure it matches the color I may be needing for something that is missing a few drills from.

    I bought some storage containers that have 4 together. I still haven't received my canvas picture yet so I was trying to prepare ahead of time. So, does each "painting" come with the "diamonds"? I don't want to amass a collection of containers if they aren't really needed. I saw one review where a lady had so many containers that she had someone weld a storage shelf to hold her containers. Is that necessary? Just asking because I am wanting to have a new hobby and if gardening, rabbits, chickens, crocheting, and latch hooking isn't enough. Just asking your advice. Thanks for sharing. All paintings come with their diamonds. I believe I know the picture you were referring to. That woman had a bunch of beads for beading necklaces and stuff so she had inventory that she needed to keep. But you really only need to have one set of containers for the painting you are working on at the moment. There are ways to store your leftovers that don't require containers like these. A lot of people keep them in baggies when not using them on a painting.

If you join the group on facebook, you can post a picture of these so that I can see what you are referring to. The link to the group is up above in the description box 😊

    The drills won’t stick ! Doesn’t seem sticky on the pattern. Doesn’t matter if I push hard or not they don’t stick.
    What can I do ?

    • @DPbyDoni
      @DPbyDoni  6 лет назад

      If you are having that issue, I was told to put some double sided tape on your canvas and you should be able to get the drills to stick to it. Hope that helps, and good luck!

      This one that I am working on is from the store Adarl on Amazon. I did a review on them in a prior video. I also got drills like this on another one that I haven't done a review on yet. It was on Wish and here is the link. www.wish.com/product/58214f7348b52672ca40640d It is the Fairy Butterfly on this page, which is my profile picture.

    I use the zip lock bags provided, number them and put in a plastic shoe box in rows. Why buy all those containers? So confusing. Make it easy spend the money on more Diamond paintings. You get a tray with each painting!! Choose the colors put them in trays. Dollar tree has cute tiny clear cups I use just refill them. When your done your extras are all ready bagged with numbers just put them in a larger zip lock with name of painting and store them. This is supposed to calm you, not stress you out on THESE DANG CONTAINERS!!! Come on girls think about it!!!!!! 😅 Happy Painting

      Different methods work for different people :D I prefer using the storage containers myself, but I know many people who prefer using the baggy storage method. Things have changed a bit since I made this video, but I still use containers lol

    • @DPbyDoni

      DIfferent manufacturers use different dye lots, but they do go by the same DMC chart codes.

    • @DPbyDoni
      @DPbyDoni  6 лет назад

      It is solely up to you on how you want to organize your leftovers. It just helps to find the color you run out of if they are labeled with DMC codes like 90% of the rest of the diamonds are labeled.

    What does the fabric softener do?

    • @DPbyDoni
      @DPbyDoni  6 лет назад

      Tamika Pack it is used to help.control the static in the diamonds. Sometimes they like to stick to the sides of the baggies and containers and that makes it hard to pour them into the trays or back into their storage containers.

    • @DPbyDoni

      That is what I usually do, but I was trying to use a uniform system that could be used throughout all of my paintings. I just guess that won't be possible. I mean, it will, but I will have to keep using the sharpie and wiping it off when it's done to be prepared for the next painting.

    • @DPbyDoni
      @DPbyDoni  5 лет назад +1

      If they have them for your diamond painting, it will be either on the canvas in the "DMC" column, or on an inventory sheet. Not all paintings will have them, especially the small round partials.

      I have actually checked them out. If I am looking toward getting something for a future project, planned out ahead of time I will go through them. I think for now I am set for storage. I have a lot of them empty right now until I figure out what exactly I want to do for a system. Thanks for the suggestion!

    Ditch the sharpie. Just cut out the symbols from the info sheet and use double sided tape to stick them to the containers. if you want the symbols bigger photocopy the sheet at 200%. this is for the work in progress trays. The left overs in a different tray with just dmc no in case of missing drills in other projects, or to design your own, copy cross stitch designs for cards, or other crafts.

    Why bother with the DMC numbers? The canvas works of numbers, letters, and or symbols.

    • @DPbyDoni
      @DPbyDoni  Год назад

      Everyone has their own preference for how they label their containers. I prefer to use the symbol and DMC numbers. That way I only have to grab the symbol I need from the containers. I do not need to reference the canvas every time to see what number I need when I choose a symbol on the canvas to work on. That is redundant to me. I put the DMC number on them in order to file my leftovers after the kit is finished. As of about a year ago though, I only keep track of the DMC number for the drills I will be keeping. I now only keep leftover drills from Diamond Art Club and Diamond Dotz.
