    I am Tom Saguto, PGA Member and founder of SagutoGolf. Thank you for visiting my instructional page where you can find how to get on the fast track to improving your golfing abilities. Whether you are a seasoned golfing veteran looking for a quick swing tune-up after an on-course emergency, or a beginner just looking to get the most out of your golfing experience, I am here to help you achieve your golfing goals.
    My mission as your swing doctor is simple, to help you maximize your enjoyment in game of golf. Because, let’s face it, golf is a hard game.
    My philosophy is wholly based on the student having a fun, meaningful experience in a frustrating and complicated game where potential lifelong golfers either quit because it is too difficult or that they experience some form of swing-related pain or discomfort. I mitigate these problems by focusing entirely on the student’s needs and goals while teaching a golf swing method that ultimately takes stress off of the common pain areas of the swing.

    Very very good instruction again, imo you can pretty quickly develop a feel in your hands for staying on the shaft plane for each club , the trick is to sense the shaft angle at address and the lack of (vertical) shaft pressures on the way back with the correct shoulder turn and try to return to the ball with the same hand pressures, learn to sense if there is a foreign vertical hand action being used steer the shaft down to the ball meaning you have stood up in posture somewhere. The swing thought ' the correct posture maintained dictates whether you hit the ball or miss it,' not a last second rip with the hands also helps teach the feeling.

    THIS is what changed my golf swing in dramatic ways this season!!! Golf is basically over for the season in the Northeast, but as crazy as it sounds, I hit it so straight that in the last 4 rounds, I did not have a single chip or a single Greenside bunker shot, which for me was unreal!
    This is how it happened: I heard Tom some time ago talk about the downswing being more in the lower or middle of the back which was new to me. I had always taken the club back and thru at approx shoulder height...think Jack Nicklaus w his upright swing (my OLD swing) vs Hogan w his much flatter swing (my NEW swing). .
    When I started doing more middle of back with my swing path, the ball just went dead straight and longer and just felt more connected. The other piece of good news is that the swing felt very natural and not something that would take me months to work on.
    My key thought, as simple as it sounds is to take the club back about a foot lower than normal, but feel may or may not be real cuz I’m probably only taking it back a few inches lower and then just follow the same path with the downswing.
    Simple!!

      @NYC Entrepreneur,
      I've truly appreciated your comments about your progress and challenges over the better part of the past year. I am very glad the instruction on my channel has benefited your game to such an extent (and what a *FABULOUS* way to finish out your season), but to be clear your embracing the process and putting in the necessary time and effort are what have transformed your golf swing!!
      And you are absolutely correct with regard to the difference between "feel vs. real" in that oftentimes an exaggerated feel can really seal the deal (😆), so that was great work on your part to conquer your upright tendencies!
      Thanks for sharing your success and stay warm!!
      Tom
      PS: I'm sure you'll hit the ground running next season, but if you really want to keep things fresh throughout the off-season you may wish to consider the new Indoor Golf Swing Training Program section I've just added to my online school for those dealing with winter weather, lockdowns, or other confinements.

    Tom, I love your golf instruction. I have 1 question about hands and wrists. Do you manipulate them taking the club back or just take them back naturally? Thanks for your help. Kerry

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  2 года назад

      I'm glad you are enjoying the lesson content, Kerry!
      No - I do not actively manipulate the hands and wrists. I preset everything with a proper grip and setup. The hands and wrists then naturally react to the swinging motion, weight of the club, gravity, and physical forces. Remember, anything that we manipulate or contrive during the backswing must be precisely undone prior to impact if we are to expect any consistency. Such actions would not be features of a repeatable and low-maintenance swing.

    Het Jim, this is a great video. One mistake I made when trying to sagutofy (stack and tilt)my swing was having a very flat shoulder plane - taking club too much on inside on way back) cause major early extension, no power and flipping. Diagnosed it on a vid of my self.
    It is critical to get that lead shoulder down. More important that swinging to the inside? I dunno.
    Maybe a refresher on shoulder plane angles would be of assistance?

      Hi John,
      I'm glad to know that my channel's instruction has benefitted your game to such an extent!! I appreciate you sharing that!
      Here's a playlist of my setup-related videos: ruclips.net/p/PLV62KxT7Mp7Kp-4gwLA6Yjory8tzEl6IV You may find some helpful content in there.
      Weight forward 55/45 (up to 60/40 with the longer clubs), both feet flared out approximately 10-20 degrees, and the knees similarly angled outward are prescribed setup features of Stack & Tilt. We accomplish that weight forward component in the setup by bumping the hips forward an inch or so while keeping everything else in place. Three inches is a bit aggressive in this regard, but if it helps you to preset and keep your weight forward then perhaps that is what you need to feel for now. In fact, sometimes we have to accentuate that weight forward component with golfers who are transitioning from a swing style that involved a shift into the trail side in order to eliminate that tendency.

    Another great video, Tom 👍🏻 Keep it coming.
    You make the golf swing seem so simple.
    You also explain WHY things should be done.
    Why keep the weight left?
    Why keep the left arm straight?
    Why tilt the left shoulder down?
    Why should the hands be below the right shoulder at the top?
    Why straighten the right leg?
    Why turn the shoulders past 90 degrees?
    Why flatten the left wrist?
    ... If we know why, then it makes sense.
    Happy Holidays & Merry Christmas!

      Thanks so much, Mike - I've truly appreciated your very kind words and support throughout the year, and I'm very glad that you have benefited from my instruction!! There is definitely a lot of value to the "Why's", because if we know the why's behind what we are doing it makes it so much easier to actually understand the swing and then build in our own unique feels to take ownership of it.
      I wish you and yours a blessed Christmas and holiday season!!

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  3 года назад +1

      Hi Shawn,
      There are a number of potential causes for swinging too much in to out - in fact the "Fixing Common Faults" chapter in the Stack and Tilt book identifies no less than eight of them! As such, without seeing your swing I would not be able to offer a reliable guess with regard to identifying your culprit.
      Have you considered enrolling in my online school? For just $10 US/month or $99 US/year it'll get you on the fast track to owning this swing through short, simple, step-by-step videos. Additionally, there is an abundance of content aimed at resolving a variety of swing flaws and ball flight issues, and I also personally answer specific swing-related questions from members. Beyond that you may wish to give some thought to a V1 Swing Video Analysis - an effective and inexpensive service that I highly recommend to golfers in my school and elsewhere. I liken it to bringing your swing into the shop for a tune-up or minor repair. Scheduling one on a quarterly basis for preventive maintenance will do wonders for keeping things humming along nicely, and it's also a great tool for pinpointing and resolving any issues that arise. I'm 73, been playing golf on and off for many years, never amounted to much shot anywhere between 110-130 but as because of my job I didn't pay for most of the rounds and I just didn't give a shit. I finally got sick of it and quit but I was talked into a game a few years ago so I went to the range and practiced when we teemed up for the game I shot a 98 and was hooked again. I played a couple more games that year and a couple the year after but my scores got back up into the 100's, so I quit.
    Last season I thought fuck it I've got to do something with my spare time so I played a couple of rounds with some pretty good players the first wasn't horrible but the second I fell completely apart. I played a couple more games with other guys and I couldn't do shit.
    By accident I tuned into golf lessons on youtube Paul Wilson first but no matter how I tried I could not get it to work on the range. Then I tried Clay Bollard and he couldn't help me either I was ready to toss my clubs but then I saw Saguto Golf first of all I thought he was hilarious but I thought he might have something.
    I'm here to say that after watching a few videos and trying his method only a few times I can now say that while I'm still not getting distance and I am still spraying a little I can see the light at the end of the tunnel I am at least right now connecting with the ball more consistently and by the time winter is over I'll be able to go out and at least not embarrass myself.

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  3 года назад

      Hi Dennis,
      While the Stack and Tilt swing I teach shares the single plane feature, it is definitely different from the Moe Norman version and for this reason I do not recommend crisscrossing between the two methods as it would certainly lend itself to confusion. This should not be construed as a knock against Mr. Norman's renowned ball striking prowess or the style of instruction that he inspired; it's simply that components of his swing style are not compatible with S&T. So my best suggestion to those who are weighing these two methods is to choose one or the other, but not both!
      Cheers!
