- We completely disassemble the AMC 727 out of my 1973 AMC Pier Cardin Javelin. The original 727 was all used up, doing burnouts!
DIY transmission rebuild.
Rebuilding transmissions for dummies, with dummies!
Great information on doing one of these suckers!!!!! Most people are afraid to attempt rebuilding a transmission but sometimes the best way to learn is to just get er done!!!!
Thank you IHG were pretty sure we can do this but your right only one way to learn.
Yep, these are pretty simple compare to the junk now a days! Take it slow, keep the parts clean, and you will have a good trans for years to come!
I amazed at the knowledge that the two of you have about the 727. The put back together ought to be really interesting.
Thank you hopefully it goes back together with no problems.
Well done guys, those are pressure relief groves and help eliminate noise and cavitation....Look forward to the assembly!!!
Thank you just waiting for a few parts to come in and put it back together.
I Think if it comes to mechanical you guys know it all, I have taken apart a transmission and it becomes junk, have to buy one already together. We do the fried bologna here in Kentucky and call it round steak. popular around here, because it is a tender steak if teeth are scarce
Thank you Gary we try and good to no was just wondering about the bologna
I just made a video on Fried Bologna the other day Good stuff with some mustard on it
Thats awesome hmmmmmmm.
I'm gonna watch this in a few hours..I had a 73 amc matador 401..I run in the mountains of angles crest highway..that was pretty hairy. I WORE THE TIRES ON THAT THING OUT!Look it up..I lived on Anngles Crest Hwy..rout 2..La Canada/Flintridge, California..holy smoke..what a road!!!
The only people I respect is u and south main auto..and Warren..maybe that fat Illinois guy.
Thank you we used to have a Matador Chris raced it on a dirt track for a few years believe it also had a 360. Thats awesome.
Excellent video Guys :) 727 transmission also hope all fix able to and shown rebuilding back together too ! Also my area called that food talking about is fry eggs and melt my area to also your called you call it to that meal to is same !
Eggs goes well with that forsure.
Hi Penny's Crew , Happy Canada Day ! Very Informative episode . Won't make fun of you guys but ... I've heard the phrase said, " when it's back together and there's left over pieces it's because you made it better . Right ? I have complete faith in you guys ,I'll just sit back and learn something .
Hopefully there wont be any left over parts but you never know. Happy Canada day to you also.
Good Vid!! Keep em coming 🖒🖒
Thank you Rick we try,😁👍
here in southwest Missouri we just call it a fried bologna sandwich. in my 63 years I've had many of them with mustard
I remember in about 1980ish, my moms Dodge Coronet with the 225 & a 904 trans had low reverse band break. I happen to have a 904 Hornet trans so my buddy and I pulled the band from the Hornet & put it in the Dodge. I believe the book we used for torque specs was wrong on the band (too tight) and would not let it shift into 2nd. Got right torque for the band and all was well. Not sure why I didn't just buy a new band for it. I see now they are cheap. Anyway, it was a free fix for her, and I was still her #1 son. (I am the first born, so maybe I didn't really understand the complement) It's a long time ago, so hope I got my story right! Lol. Looking forward to the rebuild of your trans video!
Thank you UncleMarks. Just subscribed to your channel, will have to start watching your video's.
101 uses for a picnic table: number 48: automatic transmission disassembly bench! Go Penny's!
😁😁😁😁 Thank you Glen Go Glen
I think back in the day, on one 727 we had in our duster, along with the shift kit, we used type F trans fluid instead of Dextron III. The racers claimed better positive shifts. All I remember is it did not slip into the gears as we raced down Portage Ave in the Peg. Thats 40 years ago. Not sure what the latest tech in fluid is.
In the AMC manual it says to use type F for these. Hopefully soon this Javelin will be crusing down Portage Ave.
No tv on that one guys, it’s for kick down👍🏻
Thank you David 👍👌👍😎
I rebuilt 727s,518s,46re for years, that frt clutch has a inner seal,If i can give you some advice, measure that pump proper, all ways to measure it are in manual.they dont oil the gear train in park, northern climates where people idle it forever in winter, does damage.prolonged idleing must be done in neutral to oil gear train. If the roller clutch is damaged in the other case, you can drill them out and replace if trans case is ok .Find a trans wholesaler, dismantler in your area, they should have everything for that easily at a fraction of cost and no shipping.
Thank you Nick thats nice of you.
Your right. Pump does nothing in park on these transmission.
@@unclemarksdiyauto That is good information. Thank you guys.
Place in Louisville ky is called Portland so ive always heard bologna called portland round steak
In Carlisle Ky, we call it round steak also in fact had it last night,
Thats pretty cool thanks for watching.
In south Missippi it's called Gator dung
That's a good name for it.
better get goin then, 5 years aint a long time...lol
BAAAHAAAAA no kidding lol
Ok I don't care what you guys do but get that car running down the road!
It will be David and you will see it soon been to many years sitting.
Is there anything any one of you Penny's don't know about!?! That s awesome! I'v ealways been a bit gun shy tearing open an automatic. I've put in shift kits, changed shift levers.... even replaced a band on a whim, but never much further then that. Pretty cool. Will be following this one as i have a piece of shit 904 that will need some attention. May attempt that one.
Funny you should say that will be rebuilding a 904 soon Derek blew up his 904 in his dart yesterday.
@@pennyshotrodscustoms perfect! Well maybe not for Derek...lol Definitely want to see that video going through it. I know the 904 isn't as strong as the 727, so interested in any upgrades too.
@@OlysGarage Not as strong as 727 but will put a shift kit in it.
I've heard bologna called tube steak . If you fry it , is it fried tube steak ? I've also heard nothing says, I love you more than the smell of fried KLIK in the morning . 31 years but I'm thinking Lori would still prefer fresh coffee , yeah I gotta get up 1st again !
Agree there with you Greg.
We call it ALABAMA ROUND STEAK
Thats awesome.
Poorman's STEAK !!!
Dang straight,
👍👍😀😀🇺🇸
Thanks James
What kind of camera do you guys use?
Either we have a gopro or we use are phones how about u.
@@pennyshotrodscustoms I've been just using my phone for all of my videos. I find it's hard on the battery, uses a lot of memory on longer videos, and it sounds like I'm breathing like an exhausted fat boy when I'm barely even breathing at all lol
@@waynered9Thats what i use when i dont have a go pro. lol Keep it up Wayne if you would like i can give you a shout out.
@@pennyshotrodscustoms that would be awesome! It would probably help so much!
@@waynered9 No problem ill be making a video soon and ill give you a shoot out
