Nelly Furtado is back with a new song recorded with Timberland and Justin Timberlake tomorrow, Sep 1st. It seems Nelly is nostalgic for her limelight years.
Right? It was so weird to me too. She went from I'm Like A Bird to this, like who's the real Nelly? It reminds me of Jewel when she did that Intuition song. She went from folk to pop looking super awkward and uncomfortable in her new sexy clothes. I always cringe-laugh watching that video cause she looks like a teen girl who was forced to do it by her parents and she's on the verge of crying.
Great song. A MUST follow up from her is "Maneater." It slays. Then "Say It Right," "All Good Things (Come to an End)," "Powerless," "I'm Like a Bird," and "Forca."
I mentioned Nelly yesterday under your Dido reaction but it kept disappearing. And here she is! As a Canadian I find Nelly's career trajectory really interesting. She, JT and Timbaland defined the mid 2000s. Would love it if you reacted to "Give it to me" by all three of them.

(Who sings together with Timbaland on The Way I Are) I always recommend Nelly Furtados early start with Im Like A Bird,Turn Off The Light and even Nelly Furtado - In God's Hands,where she shows where she comes from basically. It was her original style in clothing,the culture she was born in,and she just carried the songs without too many other elements or instruments. I will however suggest one of her easily forgotten hits as well in: Nelly Furtado - Do It (Official Music Video) One of a very very few songs where Nelly brings vocal notes that will have you jaw drop a little. In what seems like a very catchy party song,but thats what i love about Nelly Furtado,shes full of surprises. And just wait until you start listening to her live,shes a stunner!
Amazing! Nelly is an interesting artist. This era (Loose; collaboration with Timbaland) in particular seems to be more successful for her and yet she has had some cool music in her early career, too. I also love how she incorporated Portuguese (she's a Portuguese Canadian) musical instruments into some of her songs like "Powerless".

Back In 2007 or 2008 i had this album constantly on repeat everywhere i had access to an CD-Player and literally every song on it was a banger Especially „say it right“ and „maneater“
Timbaland back in those days did some great stuff, but he disappointed me big time with the posthumous MJ album Xscape. He was arrogant and cocky saying he would make MJ's music/demos better. Listen, NOBODY can do it better than MJ himself. So he should have kept the demos more as they were with respect for MJ...he didn't. Love Nelly! She was already great on her own. Listen to some of her other songs. LJ
I do enjoy Nellys Loose era but honestly o prefer her original r&b folksy hip hop esque roots. I'd love to see reactions to any of her songs from her first 2 albums. I'm Like a Bird, Turn Off The Lights, S##t on the Radio, Powerless, Forca, Explode or Try to name a few lol ❤ also not JT fan and his presence in this vid bugged me Nelly can do better imo.
I don't dislike this song but she has much better songs than this. This is just a song I could have on in the background. It's all produced and we I said I don't dislike it but it's nothing special. If does show that she has versatility though. I wouldn't really call this week anthem either. More Nelly Furtado though please!!! I felt in this is she was overshadowed or just a bit part player in her own song!!!

Although Justin was in the video towards the end, the guy with the hat was a backup dancer who looks very similar to Justin in some shots.

Do It is such a fantastic song, probably my favourite Nelly song, but her second album is her best in my opinion. So underrated.
