The following is about the conversation we had yesterday:
All this comes to you with love and respect.
Thanks for the reply. I understand the conundrum you face. When the truth comes in front of people, they face such conundrum.
Do you remember that around 2 months back you acknowledged multiple times that The Father is THE GOD of Jesus. That's based on the preaching and practice of Jesus of the Gospels which I presented to you. Ex-pl-ic-it, unambiguous, clear-cut, razor-sharp, without any room for multiple interpretations or imagination somersaults or conjecture contortions.
John 20:17: “Jesus saith unto her, ...I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and TO MY GOD, AND YOUR GOD.”
      Have another look!
".... *TO MY GOD and YOUR GOD* "
Didn't he say that he was gonna tell about The Father PLAINLY?
Jesus did tell about The Father PLAINLY that The Father is his GOD.
The term Father is a figure of speech. PLAINLY The Father is THE GOD of Jesus.
      John 16:29
"Though I have been speaking figuratively, a time is coming when I will no longer use this kind of language but will tell you *PLAINLY* about my Father. NIV
These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you *PLAINLY* of the Father. KJV

You had already acknowledged that The Father is THE GOD of Jesus, but when the rubber met the road and I asked you to complete the sentence, you didn't even go there. That's because even though you had acknowledged that truth a few days back, you let it slip from your mind
      1) either you didn't like that truth
      OR
      2) You didn't take that truth seriously enough
      OR
      3) Letting go of years of imagination based theology and faith is proving difficult for you

@@Truth.is.Bitter Actually it's a number 4. I had forgotten that I "acknowledged that the Father is THE GOD of Jesus."
Isn't that weird? My memory is getting bad. My mom had dementia or Alzheimer's so I'm wondering if I might be susceptible to such a mental disease too ?
Anyhow, number 2 is a possibility too. It's possible I "didn't take the truth seriously enough" as you said.
So, I'm not sure where my "journey" regarding Jesus' identity is going. I hope I take it seriously.

I think there is another layer to this discussion. The best modern time example that I would give is the phenomenon of the flat earther. Explicitly the flat earther uses empirical evidence, yet even with all the evidence that's been gathered over thousands of years the flat earther is firm and set in his ways. I remember a video of a man living in Florida right beside the rocket launch site where he could see Rockets going into space. He could go out and buy starlink satellite internet service. He probably uses GPS on a daily basis. Yet it's all not enough. Humans have an incredible ability to justify beliefs against all evidence and regardless of epistemology to reach the belief they desire to reach. I like that this discussion names the hidden axioms that go into such debates

    Part 2:
    AlDahr
I've so far listened half way to podcast. Jazakallahkhair. InsyaAllah I will make further comment if necessary after finishing listening.
One more thing perhaps; a very grave mistake by most of our scholars - mutakallimin or philosophers - is when they are talking about AlDahr/Time. That is when recalled the infinite regression to prove Allah SWT existence.
    Allah SWT informed in Hadith Qudsi that;
    وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسلم: " قَالَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى: يُؤْذِينِي ابْنُ آدَمَ يَسُبُّ الدَّهْرَ وَأَنَا الدَّهْرُ بِيَدِيَ الْأَمْرُ أُقَلِّبُ اللَّيْلَ وَالنَّهَارَ "
    مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ (الألباني)
حكم : متفق عليه (زبیر علی زئی)
    Grade: Muttafaqun 'alayh (Zubair `Aliza'i)
Allah is the ad infinitum eternity. The Hadith is The Truth to words. Allah SWT is the AlDahr/Time. Those whomever believe that AlDahr/Time is one of Allah SWT creations( His makhluk) implied that he/she believes that Allah had created Himself.
Without AlDahr/Time nothing exists. In sleep one lost one lost everything; consciousness, god, oneself, sense of Time...all but the observer of you in sleep recognize you are alive and the Time is going on,... although you lost your consciousness. This shows that the Time is continuously existed/present in any circumstances - the situations of a person lost consciousness likes in sleep - the situation of nothingness! It is similar to the state before the universe came to exist. It apparently implies that ONLY Time existed during the state of nothingness before the universe came to exist. BUT we Muslim-mukmin belief in Prophet Muhammad SAW - in his words - in Hadith Qudsi - the fact from Allah in his words - Allah SWT is The Time😢.

Why do I have a burden of proof as an atheist? I don't believe your claims. What do you want me to demonstrate? I want _theists_ to demonstrate that their claims are actually true. If they can't do that - and I've never talked to a theist who had *anything* distinguishable from wishful-thinking backing up his religious beliefs - that's all I need to not believe them.

The burden of proof absolutely lies with the person making the positive claim. There is no way around it. If it were not so, then the God of the Quran would have simply said, "I am God, prove me wrong." But it didn't happen that way, did it? God kept pointing to His "signs" to provide evidence of the truth of His claim. He consistently appealed to reason with logical arguments to make His case. It's a completely different matter whether God's evidence was convincing or not. So, to conclude, the burden of proof without a doubt lies upon the one making the positive claim.

So it is impossible to prove that Santa Claus, unicorns, the Loch Ness Monster, God, pink elephants, WMD in Iraq, and Bigfoot don’t exist. Of course, this rather depends on what one has in mind by ‘prove.’ Can you construct a valid deductive argument with all true premises that yields the conclusion that there are no unicorns? Sure. Here’s one, using the valid inference procedure of modus tollens:"
It goes on to Explain How.
Also Look Up "Proof Theory" on Stanford Encyclopedia Of Philosophy.

    Part 3:
Why AlQuraniah science Methodology and Facts are the ONLY be acceptable as truth.
In Part 1 of my comments I mentioned about 3 principle ways/means to the truth. They're related to 3 different kinds/levels certainty of knowledge (yaqin) as follows:
    1. One observes the reality..., بمشاهدة ~ ain-ul yaqin - certainty by personal inspection/observations.
    2. One has observed the similar reality... مشاهدة نظير ~ ilm-ul yaqin - certainty by reasoning or inference.
    3. The true information/testimony about its... الخبر الصادق ~ haq ul yaqin - absolute certainty/Truth of AlQuran and authentic Hadith from Rasulullah SAW.
We have generally explored and concluded that intellectual philosophical/kalamiah rational reasoning or inference has failed miserably to prove existence of god proposition. God of the philosopher/mutakallimin is the god of the gaps of philosophical/ kalamiah axioms and arguments because human rational is not a knowledge per se so there gaps of knowledge of the prior or pre-universal existence. This conclusion is applied to both cases; the cosmological/ ontological and contingency/dependency philosophical approaches.
Secondly the philosophical/kalamiah arguments for existence of god do not take time into consideration. Now it can clearly be understood that it would have been a total misguided to accept dependency/contingency for existence of god since its argued independence of time when Allah the Creater Himself is The Time/AlDahr. (My Part 2 comment). It is a total disaster since many Islamic scholars believe that The Time/ AlDahr is one of Allah SWT creations (makhluk)!.
    In my other comment,
    ruclips.net/user/postUgkxlxzOJqxSB1An4_6gsz4_Qa0bB7ACY-0n?si=W1DGw_znTf1lj__A
showed that the secular as well godly monism(be physicalism or idealism) philosophy and science are trapped in circular reasonings therefore useless to prove the truths. Therefore now we Muslim-mukmin must now focus in development of AlQuranic Science - science of truths.
    If I have opportunity InsyaAllah we can show and derive that;
¹ The basis of Alquranic science (in spirit of the true meaning of science as ilm/knowledge) was first introduced to the world as early as the first Wahyu and subsequent historical events experienced by the Prophet Muhammad SAW that followed the 1st revelation.
² At the same instance of we can understand that the 1st Wahyu was the proof for the existence and the Singular-Unity of Allah, the existence of the Angels of Allah, AlQuran as one of the Books of Allah and the Prophet Muhammad SAW is one of the many Messengers of Allah before him.
(I hope you all can bear with my English)

    AsalamuAlaykumWaRahmatullahiWaBarakatuh
Amazing work on deconstructing the fundamental premises of belief into undoubtable facts rooted into the Fitrah, eradicating radical skepticism from its roots. I have 2 (3ish) questions:
    1. You mentioned, truth, morality, an external world, belief in God etc as beliefs of the Fitrah. My Meta question now, is, what are all of the fundamental beliefs of the Fitrah? Could we list out these beliefs and attach undoubtable fitrah definitions to them, such that we can THEN use syllogisms with these axiomatic premises as our basis? Or is this question begging, and presupposing something else?
    2. (Continuation of 1's line of reasoning) Furthermore, you mentioned that belief in God is an axiomatic truth of the Fitrah, and that Islam was not a truth like this, rather it being a derived truth from a derived understanding of God's message, the guidance of the Quran etc. For someone who uses their Fitrah to come to the conclusion of Christianity, or another religion, or even Islam, but with a deviant Aqidah, and given that logic is deductive, a. whatever we hold to be axiomatic truths, and b. whatever we hold as their definitions, doesn't it then follow that every belief we end up on is as a result of a deviation in one of these two fronts?
    3. And lastly, are the laws of Logic axiomatic truths? What implication does this have?

    My personal experience with doubts.
As I grew up, I was certain that Islam was the truth but when I was in my teens, I started watching Islamic content on RUclips. Naturally, YT started recommending me muslim vs atheist debates. When I saw those titles i was like, who are these atheists, they are shooting themselves on the foot, at that time i was certain that Islam was 100% truth. When I started watching these debates i felt disturbed as the points that atheists were making made sense to me, especially about evolution, as i was aware of that from my school. I could not simply ignore these "facts," because as a born muslim i was taught to be sincere with my faith. But Alhamdulillah, the brothers on YT and a book from Adnan Oktar (at the time i didn't know that he was a Quranist and a cult leader) helped me in not losing my faith, but the doubts didn't end. After watching a lot of videos and reading many books on this topic, I became firmer in my faith, but still the doubts didn't go away. One night, i was praying and the doubts like "why are you praying?" "Who are you praying to?" "Does that God even exist?" were coming in my mind. I became frustrated and told myself "Ok i am atheist now, NOW WHAT!" I started feeling overwhelmingly lonely and sad. In the dead of night, I could only think of stars and the galaxies, were they just "matter and energy", what happens to me when i die. I started doubting atheism as well, lol. At that time, I became very emotional and then I quickly repented to Allah. Alhamdulillah. But still the doubts didn't go away. When I prayed, I would think "If God doesn't exist, then aren't you just wasting your time and energy." Interestingly, these doubts only came when I was doing something good like praying or studying, when I was watching movies or playing video games, I could focus on doing that very well. This may have not proven God, but it may have proven shaytan. Subhanallah. These doubts were a big problem. Recently, I have decided that I will allow myself to doubt everything except for one thing, this really helped me in focusing in salah, and it is لا إله إلا الله محمد رسول الله There is none worthy of worship except God (Allah) and Muhammad is the messenger of God.
    Btw, sorry for bad english.

I went to one of the top universities of the US and lost my faith and became a strong agnostic. Spent a decade and came back to islam. I think You can dismiss you doubts in many ways. Believing in Allah and islam is a no brainer. Being an atheist is falsehood and misery. I think they key to finding faith is to Turn to Allah asking for forgiveness and guidance.

Finding God: Experiment or Multiplayer Game? Something to think about for Agnostics from a Long term Agnostic

I was a disbeliever in God and any religion for most of my adult life. I went through a decade long journey to find what I now know is the truth. The standard of proof that I had when I started my journey, remained the same. At the start of my journey I thought that even if I found evidence of God, I would perhaps have faith to an extent that I would be able to say, I think it likely God exist. I was convinced that there could be no certitude of faith. I do not believe any of my standards of proof have changed, though I now am sure there is such a thing as certainty of faith in God.
      Think about the following.
People do not go out of their way to help people not up to a basic criteria. If someone does not come up to your standards, you will not help him in certain things. You perhaps may not want to help a murderer buy a Gun. Those standards do not have to be very high. Point is if you go apply for a job saying I am the brightest of the brightest Harvard has to offer, and you my interviewer are a moron, then expecting a job offer may not be likely. Alternatively if you are a multiple murderer and a MIT 5.0 GPA grad and go apply for a Job, and say I am the best technical person you are going to find hire me, its is again likely that you will get rejected.
I am convinced it’s exactly the same story with finding proof of God/religion. Reason can lead you to proof of God only if God wants you to get there. God has with held certain key factors with himself so that with all your data you will not analyze it in a way to prove his existence to yourself. This I believe is a key way for him giving proof to whom he chooses and withhold proof from who he chooses. What makes him decide who to lead to the right way, that is for you to discover. I believe factors like arrogance, not caring about the truth, not searching for the truth without biases, forcing your own standards on God are perhaps some of the reasons for which God withholds proof. God, I believe, handicaps people for their circumstances.
An Al Mighty holds all the cards If there is a God, It is obvious that God has not provided the understanding of proof of his existence to all people. People do genuinely disbelieve in his existence. Similarly not all people who believe in God, believe in the same religion, this again means that God has not provided the understanding of proof of the true religion to all people.
For an agnostic searching for the truth, whatever it may be. If he uses reason to want to disprove God, God may very likely withhold the proofs from that person. If the person is unbiased, then that person should try to see that if there is a God, what standards should I try to meet which will make God give me proof. This is a key mistake I see too many people make i.e. they do not think of the search as a multiplayer game rather a simple data collection experiment.
A number of people of Belief, believe they have proof based on reason and through reason they have achieved faith, they could be right, but I think just as crucial is the factor whether they have achieved that basic standard.
Agnosticism can be a good start. It provides a starting place to find the truth. If you remain completely in blind faith you could be on the wrong path and have no hope of finding the truth. But to use reason alone and not factor in the fact that to get the job its not only your qualifications but also if you fit the Employers standard, can lead you into serious trouble. If by chance you meet this standard, you get hired if you don’t well then..
What this means for an Agnostic.
Remain true to your standards, seek the truth aggressively, and make finding the truth a top priority in your life. If God exists, I believe, he will appreciate you making an unbiased search for the truth. You make finding God without any biases a top priority and he may well make you a priority. I am convinced he will not hold any genuine doubts you have. If God chooses he will give you sufficient proof.
Do not cop out and accept a religion based on blind faith. Hold on until you have enough proof before committing to a religion. Keep you genuine doubts and expect answers.
Try to be unbiased in your opinion about Gods existence. If you do not want him to exist, he will likely convince you of it.
Use creative prayers like the following “ God, I do not know you exist, I only want the truth whether I like it or dislike it, if you are there help me find the truth.”
Remember that if there is a God, then he has clearly not given proof to all people, try to improve yourself and try to figure out what standards God may use to give proof.
      Study religion without bias
Ask Forgiveness of God of whatever you may have done wrong.
      Keep asking for guidance.
Keep your likes and dislikes out of the search for truth. What you like does not make it true and what you dislike does not make it false. This is a key factor in moving a person away from the truth.
I believe proofs of God and religion is individualized. You may be given proof different from what other people are given. If you come up to Gods criteria, the proof I believe will be enough to give you certitude of faith.
      Summary
Most of what I wrote above was something I wrote about a decade and a half ago.
In a nutshell my updated understanding of that criteria is simply keep asking whoever created the universe to forgive you and guide you with humility. You must keep your likes and dislike out of it and be willing to accept the creator on his terms and his likes and dislikes. If you persist and keep turning to the creator you will be guided. He has to show you convincing proof if he really expect you to believe and I know he does. Him expecting blind faith is him asking you to just gamble which is not going to lead you to the truth.
Irrespective if my criteria is accurate or not. You need to find the criteria whatever it may be. You can treat my criteria as a falsification test.

This is a starting point for those agnostic about religion.
Supposing you only know there is there is some God (since you have figured out that part) and no other information about who or what he is
Thus you are with no information of which God may be the true god.
      Consider the Following Statements.
If I say Worship A who is the true god. This statement may or may not be true..
If I say Worship B who is the true god. This statement may or may not be true..
if I say Worship John, the man who is the true god. This statement may or may not be true..
if I say Worship the Sun, the Star who is the true god. This statement may or may not be true..
However if I say Worship the creator the universe, who is the true God. That is a true statement! Since you are specifying God as he who created the universe and not a particular object person.
That is the true God and to worship him is the true religion.
God is specified exactly this way in the Quran including Surah Kahf.
Point is Muhammad SWAS came and basically told us to worship that God. Look the the mulsim prayers and duas, they apply on the creator of the universe. If you mean Allah to mean the creator, then Subhan Allah (Allah is perfect), Alhamdolillah (All praise if for Allah), Allah o Akbar (Allah is the greatest), La ilaha illalah (The is no God but Allah), La huwal walquwata illah billah (There is no power but with Allah). Surah Fatheha. You list them, they are all completely valid prayers for the creator.

(Say: "Verily, Allah sends astray whom He wills and guides unto Himself those who turn to Him in repentance.'') meaning, He guides to Him those who repent, turn to Him, beg Him, seek His help and humbly submit to Him [Tafsir Ibn Kathir)
Reflect on the following hadith the guidance part:
On the authority of Abu Dharr al-Ghifaree (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) from his Lord, that He said: O My servants! I have forbidden dhulm (oppression) for Myself, and I have made it forbidden amongst you, so do not oppress one another. O My servants, all of you are astray except those whom I have guided, so seek guidance from Me and I shall guide you. O My servants, all of you are hungry except those whom I have fed, so seek food from Me and I shall feed you. O My servants, all of you are naked except those whom I have clothed, so seek clothing from Me and I shall clothe you. O My servants, you commit sins by day and by night, and I forgive all sins, so seek forgiveness from Me and I shall forgive you. O My servants, you will not attain harming Me so as to harm Me, and you will not attain benefiting Me so as to benefit Me. O My servants, if the first of you and the last of you, and the humans of you and the jinn of you, were all as pious as the most pious heart of any individual amongst you, then this would not increase My Kingdom an iota. O My servants, if the first of you and the last of you, and the humans of you and the jinn of you, were all as wicked as the most wicked heart of any individual amongst you, then this would not decrease My Kingdom an iota. O My servants, if the first of you and the last of you, and the humans of you and the jinn of you, were all to stand together in one place and ask of Me, and I were to give everyone what he requested, then that would not decrease what I Possess, except what is decreased of the ocean when a needle is dipped into it. O My servants, it is but your deeds that I account for you, and then recompense you for. So he who finds good, let him praise Allah, and he who finds other than that, let him blame no one but himself. [Muslim]

@@osmanniazi7888 I understand a gist of what you are saying, I myself since my childhood have tried to gain Ilm with humility and sincerity, Alhamdulillah. I know that with my current knowledge, I can't prove that God exists, even to myself let alone others. But I still choose to believe in God with certainty, Alhamdulillah. I look at practical aspects of my belief in God, I know it is in my best interest to follow Islam. I have myself sort of experienced nihilism since the covid era. Even if Islam isn't true, I don't think that i will ever be convinced that it is the case, but still even then, Islam has provided many strong and successful men with peace and content, SubhanAllah. I believe that either Islam is the truth or i am completely ignorant of the universe, other faiths have never even come close to convince me of their truth. If Islam is the truth, then I believe in it anyways, Alhamdulillah. As for knowledge, I have decided to put effort and study the material world, at the same time i want to become a doctor, Inshallah. I want to do dawah after i have the proof (for me at least) that Islam is 100% truth, Inshallah.

Ibn Taymiyyah may have detractors but one cannot deny he had deep love for the Sunnah of our Prophet and following the way of the salaf and fought in the path of Allah against the Mongols whereas other scholars were palace lap dogs not condemning political sectarianism and factionalism during the crusader period/Mongol and busy in inter Sunni polemics. Ibn Taymiyyah instead worried about the common man and women.

Another very interesting, stimulating talk. Thank you. It seems that Islam tends to rely on belief as the natural (default) human condition. Nonbelief being a corruption of the natural state.
Another method would be that a person starts out as neither a believer nor as a nonbeliever, but as someone with a completely open mind while seeking their answer to the important question; is there a divine being or force?
Perhaps they come to their truth through calculation, through revelation, through an emotional need or through some other process. In any event, through a process.
For a rational person that would involve proof. Here in the United States, finding of fact often involves analysis by a preponderance of evidence. That is that one conclusion is more likely than another conclusion. Another is using a standard of clear and convincing evidence. And a third, most strict, by a conclusion beyond a reasonable doubt.
As an aside, another type of analysis would be interesting. Is Hindu belief truer than Islamic belief? Is Buddhist belief better than Islamic belief? Certainly, the questions of Christianity vs, Ilam has been covered here many times over.

God does not need us to believe. We need Him, not the otherway around. We would not even exist if not for Him. Accepting that is part of being grateful.
The condition of the human beign is like a tree that refuses to work as intended, or a lion that wants to eat fruit. Difference is they cannot choose. We can choose: to obey the designer or reject Him. And that is our test. Because we can reason, and through that we reach the creator.
Accepting that all that exists has a clear purpose, design and goal. Nothing usless exists. Humans are not the exception.

We are very bad with theses explanations, out of arabic language. God doesn't exist, and who claims it he doesn't understand Islam believes. Allah is al Qayyum, He makes that His creations Exist. Allah is not an object dwelling somewhere and sometime. I really reject philosophers in matter of God's words, borrowing from greek and christians. Allah is ACTING, He is Verb, infinitive. So, to translate Islam creed in mathematical equation through philosophy and translations, without knowing deeply arabic, can lead only in deep misconceptions of God's words. Another example, Ummah and Iman share 90% of their meaning. Iman never meant Faith, which is an english christian concept, not arabic.
