Spend less than your revenue. That's it. As for automation, no way. Pay attention to every bill. Make the decisions yourself.

My goals are to pay out my mortgage in 2025 and max my TFSA. I already have the money in a GIC waiting for paying out my mortgage in 2025. The only reason why I wait is because I have a close mortgage at 1.7% and investing into a GIC give me 5.1% return per year. The bank is paying me for having a loan since I use my mortgage credit margin for that.

Very true points! My husband and I have been using an Excel spreadsheet since we got married, and we've always focused on growth, even in hard times. And it is certainly true that we talk about money. It's important to get on the same page early to avoid financial strife in a relationship. 🙂

It's hilarious that you brought up geometry for trait one. I have always excelled at math, elementary school through differential equations in college, geometry was the one class that I got a C in. I think algebra would have been a better example of how you can stumble, but still do great!

Tracking your money is huge. Simply knowing where it goes is often enough to trigger positive change in your spending. Finding a time-effective way to track your spending is the tough part...

Another great video! We use an excel spreadsheet to track our income and expenses as well as calculate our savings goals. I have a fairly large workbook with our financial goals through the year 2050 so we can keep our fingers on the pulse of our short, medium, and long term goals. We too talk about money everyday and I can play around in the spreadsheet for hours! It’s my little escape 😂 thanks again! It’s confirmation that we’re on the right track!

As long as nothing is taught in school to 15 year olds most people will not be good with money; it would only need one book and 10 hours of lessons, it would have enormous benefits. I recall Buffett`s story about selling cold Coke to families on hot summer evenings in his area and saving all the profits and buy his first shares at 12 years of age.
