The best way to practice stealth wealth is to associate with people who don't flaunt wealth. You are who you hang out with. So hang out with people who mirror your core values.
i like your "global perspective" on wealth. most people only compare themselves to their neighbors and then complain about not having the latest shinny thing. When you compare the average American to other parts of the world. We are incredibly blessed with wealth.
I really enjoy spending time being in nature, Hiking in the Forrest and mountains etc. It's very stress relieving and it cost nothing. The best part, there are no "Joneses" to keep up with.
I always thought of having a spacious house with a classic car collection, gym, other things but have a small apartment as a way to test if the woman in my life loved me as a person and not a paycheck.
„Lavishly spending on my hair“ 😂 - I only recently discovered your channel, but I love it. You are preaching exactly what I have been practicing in so many ways. And my hair is equally gorgeous. 😊 Keep up the great work!
Thank you for this video. I have found that there are many local activities such as visiting museums, hiking in wilderness areas and parks, farmers' markets, events at nearby universities, reading, give me more enjoyment and knowledge and exercise at low cost compared to planned commercial vacations and visits to consumer-oriented events. Also, visiting out-of- the-way foreign countries is one of the best ways to experience and reflect upon our lives and our ingrained assumptions. My most memorable trip was to Africa (Senegal and Gambia). The people have so little industrial material wealth compared to us spoiled U.S. citizens, but they have so much more happiness, social and familial connections, spontaneity and much stronger values than the majority of people living in the 'lonely crowd' of the West. 😊
This has been very very insightful. Your logic is sound cogent & in a way a humbling. Thank you for giving me more pointers in my stealth wealth journey
My experience so far Celebrate Invisibility: I personally like solitude. I need space for myself so I can think. Especially as a student, where it's really easy to get overstimulated. Core Relationships: These are extremely important to me. I also draw boundaries where certain relationships are and aren't welcome, because sometimes things can get unnecessarily complicated. Money Discussions: I don't like to talk about money unless someone else brings it up, or if it's academic in nature. Otherwise, I take a step back. Fancy Trips: I don't really like fancy trips. They feel gaudy and they get boring. There's something really nice about going on a trip and experiencing what regular life is like. That said, I'm a sucker for learning about every aspect of culture wherever I go. People-Curiosity: This is important to me. When I get closer to someone, I try to learn their native language, study their profession a bit, and understand their culture. Before I left for school, my father told me, "Look around you. Everyone knows something you don't and has experiences you could never imagine. You have one task: find out what those things are." Flashy Toys: I don't have any flashy toys, nor do I want any, but I like seeing others' flashy toys. Gives me an idea as to what someone likes, and why they live the way they live. The book "Candide" inspired this way of thinking in me. If you've read it, you know the characters I'm talking about. Fancy Cars: I don't even like cars, so I don't have to worry about this one. I prefer a pair of durable shoes, or a bicycle. If I really have to, I'll just take a bus or train, maybe a plane. Location Avoidance: I like busking, so I tend to go to public places that are a bit ritzy. They're generous with their tips. Besides, just visiting those places is fun enough for me. ID the Splurges: I really can't afford to splurge right now, being a student and all, but knowing what I would like to splurge on keeps me motivated. I tell myself that once I hit certain milestones, I'll treat myself if I meet certain conditions. But interestingly, once I get there, I don't want it anymore, and just move on to the next milestone. Get Out: I literally did this. I left my home country for school, and my world has opened. I really like to travel, and I want to be able to do it more later on. Volunteering: It's usually small things to help friends right now, but after the semester ends, I'm hoping to spend some time doing official volunteer work! This comment was an exercise in active listening and also for the algorithm. Cheers!
Carbros dog on my miata but I spend $30-$40/month on gas, and its simple enough to work on I dont need a mechanic for anything that breaks. The parts themselves are common and relatively cheap too, its the ultimate balance of "fun car: and "economy car".
Tae Kim Stealth Wealth -your so right but you need to be very careful talking about money with people !! Be conscious with your surrounding and stay focus !!!
great advice and its why i stopped using instagram. it was so cringe watching people show off yet i was more well off because i had no need to show off
Don’t be cringe. I love watching people show off. I like to learn why others like certain things and learn about all the new gadgets that I cannot avoid.
Celebrating invisibility, IMO, is worrying more about how others perceive you vs how you perceive yourself and your situation. This whole thought of "Stealth Wealth" is for the benefit of others, not you. Relationships are pivotal, no disagreement. However, why should I care what others think about my house, car, etc? It's their insecurity - NOT MINE! 🤷 I have a beat up Jeep and a brand new BMW. Some people don't like cars or care, but others do!!
Avoid debt. Cut costs. Building wealth is in your mindset, work on that and your financial potentials becomes exponential, develop good habits like regularly putting money away in intervals for investments .The financial market has plenty of opportunities to earn.. I made my first million from passive investing in diverse assets with the help of my adviser Susan Kay Mack..it's been a year of steady growth..
I hope my family is on the way to stealth wealth. People in our lives do get surprised when we go on a vacation or two during the year but they don’t see how we’re trying to keep expenses low rest of the year.
Dont tell them you're going on vacation. My parents used to tell friends, family, and loved ones that "my mother is sick, we have to leave town for 4 days." (then we'd be gone for 3 weeks) My mom would say her mother, her father, her sister, my dad's mother, father, sister, etc is sick.... people DONT want to hear about sick relatives so they never asked. So....IF they asked, my mom would tell the "family sob" story and we'd just vanish for 2-3 weeks and NONE of the neighbors really kept track. They would think we were only gone for 4 days. People are bad listeners and dont really care.
great video!!! great advice, I have a friend that is classified working poor. I have to keep our conversations very "vanilla". not disclosing very much of my personnel life or else I would offend him.
My income is around $350k as a single earner and it’s very difficult not to show off your wealth because things you think are cheap are not cheap for 99% of people. I’ll never forget when my friends came over and were wowing over my $1000 dyson vacuum cleaner, which I thought was not a big deal, and had the audacity to say “Oh it’s nothing, it’s cheap anyway”….
I am suuuuper wealthy and even when I talk about the weather I cant help but talk about how I carry my Gucci umbrella around, just in case it rains. I cant have my collector edition Jordans to get soggy and climb into my Rolls Royce and soak the persian floor mats.
Video idea: How can you combat retail therapy? As I make more money, lifestyle inflation happens and it’s at least every week i find myself browsing through amazon for random gadgets just bc and it becomes impulse buys at $8-$20 adds up 😅. Amazon prime is basically Christmas in 2 days for adults 😂
I am teaching/ disciplining myself by avoiding such apps from my phone, by not going to shopping areas, etc. budgeting, and allocating the extra money I have to investing & saving. I don’t have tv and any of the streaming services either. I decided to evaluate things if I need them before I actually buy. So far I am happy and learning a lot. I shared you If my practices help you in case.
@@fitsumf9837 Any hobbies you partake in that dont cost too much money? Ive gotten into hiking and running lately to combat spending money but now i find myself looking at gear reviews (shoes, watches, hydration backpacks, clothing) 😬

Thank you for the advice! I probably struggle because I keep identifying new splurges, but watching your videos is always inspiring to do better.

I grew up in a very wealthy town. People wore t shirts, shorts, sandals and expensive watches.
The poorer people wore designer brands.
