I drive a 2012 Volkswagen and plan on keeping it until it drops, I live in Old Navy and Gap clothes, buy food from Trader Joes and I live way way below my means, yet could afford to live a much more expensive and luxurious life--and my family and friends do not know---and I know that living this way works best for me---people can be resentful and not pleased when you are far more financially sound than they are---Great and spot on video Tae!
Splurge quietly is one of my favorites. You can bring great joy to yourself and your family by being frugal on big ticket items like your house/car, but splurging on a good water filter, nice couch, quality mattress, high-end tooth brush, etc. Spend money where it counts.
@@allthingsnu4673 It's the only way to go. I played the game on the other side chasing status and I was deep in debt and struggling internally. I like the stealth wealth side much better
I really like those $9.99 100% pima cotton Kirkland t-shirts. They last forever, they’re comfortable and somehow go with everything. The shape actually starts looking better as they get older.
I really agree with the undercover car idea. Our family has 4 paid for cars, the newest one is a 2015. I have always spent quality time with the boys maintaining them and keeping the clean. Win - Win.
If you want to project wealth on a budget, learn your sizings for clothes. Go to thrift shops, find clothes that fit where it matters. Buy them for next to nothing. Now, take those clothes to an alteration shop, a tailor, and have the clothes tailored to you. It will cost, but the raw material was cheap, and it now fits you perfectly. Such things scream wealth to those around, and yet, lol, you bought those pants for $5 at the thrift store. Buying the pants used, $5, buying nearly the same pants brand new and of a similar quality, $75. But for $50 the "cheap" pants seem more expensive because they fit you perfectly.
Thanks for the sensible tips, Tae. My financial situation recently changed for the better and I'd already decided to be an undercover wealthy person before finding this video. I'm an introvert anyway and don't like drawing attention to myself so why make myself a target for everything and every kind of person I don't want in my life? No, thank you!
I somewhat regret buying my BMW. I love cars and my BMW is paid off. However, I can’t help but feel like I shouldn’t have it. I could sell it and get a cheaper car- but also I love the luxury of it and how fast it is. Not going to lie though- it does stress me out leaving it in certain places. I felt much more peace driving my cheap car.
@@user-fx3ou2jh9k I love cars. I’ve always been a car guy. I tried driving cheaper brands and being a frugal car driver but I just couldn’t do it. I love the experience of driving a fast and fun car
The principle of spending your money on what you truly enjoy and saving elsewhere applies here. It looks like you enjoy cars generally and this car particularly. I’d say give yourself the space to enjoy and appreciate it and grateful that you can afford it. Save on other items 😊
Q Being comfortable with wealth is an art. I am comfortable with myself and my luxurious stuff. However, it is true that: People are jealous. People do steal. Successful people don't become that way overnight. What most people see at a glance-wealth, a great career, purpose-is the result of hard work and hustle over time. I pray that anyone who reads this will be successful in life..
Thanks for your service! I'm part of Uncle Sam's Yacht Club 😉. It's my second career. I'm a QM because of my retirement investments prior to getting commissioned. The few luxury items I have are under the radar without brand recognition.
I love chanel bags and other luxury items. but those are the only thing I really splurge on besides vacations. and I wear them on occasion. :D drove my old 2004 car until last month; my daughter started driving so she gets that car now.
I like your video. I’m upper middle class. Housing is low. But I splurge on my private club because I want private dining. Let’s face it, you work so hard and sometimes you want a quiet private area to eat with your family
Wearing cheap clothes when we could afford better ones also helps us lie to ourselves that we are just humble, but in reality, we have a very poor sense of style like most people, lol.
Private clubs can be well worth the price of admission if you are in a buisness that is fueled by your network. Some clube can provide a wealth of business relationships that are directly responsible for career capital and boosts in income.
I am still driving my 2006 Ford Focus I bought for 3000€ I could easily afford a new car, but I couldn't care less about the car I drive as long as everything is technically in shape.
Another good video, Tae. One way I like to give anonymously is I go to my favorite mom and pop dinner and pay for someone’s meal. I ask the waitress/waiter to choose a table. One day someone did it to me, and ever since I’ve been doing it every once in a while. It’ll put a smile in someone’s face for sure.
Congrats!🎉on reaching 100k sub milestone. Just cracked a million in my dividend portfolio this last week. I started my journey, investing a lump sum in stocks trading with the help of an excellent finance manager who trades my funds for me.
Awesome. She trades for me too. I live in Albany, Georgia & a friend who works with Erlinia Jedraa Barrett referred me to her so I reached out. In few months of trading my 100k, I’ve made a little over 420k. She is really amazing.
Hmmm..so does that mean one will never get to enjoy a nice used Porsche? People will see "PORSCHE" first and won't know that the owner bought it 8 years used..with cash..
The only issue I have is saying the Honda Fit is a boring car. LOL. Only half joking, cause they're pretty zippy, fun to drive, and you can fit a ton of stuff in it.
Hmm if you truly enjoy playing golf a membership to a private golf club may be worth it if it means not having to wait for tee times at a public golf course or being able to play golf with out feeling crowded or rushed. A private exclusive gym that is never crowded so you never have to wait for a machine or a bench or a squat rack may be worth it vs always having to wait for someone to finish their set or having to try to work in with someone at a cheaper gym that more people go to. If this gyms is in multiple locations throughout the US or the world then you know you can get in get your workout done and get out quickly regardless of where you are without having to wait. Similarly if a private club gives you more unfettered access to activities you truly enjoy then it can be worth it for that reason. Stealth wealth would not be not belonging to these clubs but rather not talking about it or mentioning your membership in them. You go to a private exclusive gym, workout quietly and efficiently and leave and don't mention where you workout. Or you go play golf but you don't draw attention to where you play golf when not on the golf course.
I got the most from your video about being frugal with things that don't interest you and spending more (if you can afford to) on the things that does interest you (your hair for example lol) I think any form of spending your hard earned money based on what others may think about you is a problem, for example: I really enjoy the experience of driving cars and the technology. I'm not buying a 2002 Honda Altima just to be uncover from people who don't care about me knowing that I will be unhappy with it lol But at the same time I don't care that much about clothes, so you will not see me buying high end garments and shoes just to appeal to others. So to me the whole stealth wealth thing is almost just as bad as "showing off " from a psychological perspective as they both deal with worrying to much about what others think. Just my thoughts
I love your content. However, I don't agree with the phrase " giving back" anything I have I took my own initiative and work my butt off! I did not take. In fact it me being of service I've already given! Thank you.
