In this video we're testing 5 different sets of Galli Bass Strings: Nickel (Rock Star Bass), Coated (Electric Bass ProCoated), Flatwound (Jazz Flat Bass), Black Nylon and D-Tuned Bass. René Flächsenhaar plays the bass licks on 2 different Sandberg California TT's, a F-Bass FV-5 P and a Mayones Slogan Custom. You can find demos of all these basses on our channel. We recorded the audio tracks through the DI out of a Aguilar Tonehammer amp. For the D-Tuned sound we used a Fender Bassman 100T. The Mayones was tuned in DGCF for this particular track.
Thanks for watching! :)

Hard to choose my favorite since René is such a great player.
I loved this video, really really helpful.
i loved how you went through the same pattern, in multiple techniques fall all the sets of strings, AND on multiple basses too!
so comprehensive! really interested in those black nylon strings now.. :P
I've received a lot of questions where the strings are available in Germany. Good news, just got a message from Box Of Trix announcing that they're now distributing Galli, which means you can now order them through every dealer.
Its great to see how different the strings change the tone of the bass
i liked the sound of the Black Nylon on slapping
Glad to see this post - great job. I love my Galli Strings Flats. I've tried many other flats and the Gallis are my favorite
Really good comparison video, thanks to you I'll be getting some flat wounds!
perfect video, now I know how my Galli blacknylon will sound like.
Ready to change them, thanks !!

Bar Goldstein Flatwounds On A P Bass
Oh Sweet
@@juanmendoza2993 better tapewounds/black nylon! try to slap with flatwounds...
Excellent string demo, cheers!
This PU's are also very good, on Fender Jazz, in the second part of the video, I was listening, at a distance of 5 meters from the speakers Bose and sensation it was like to live, in the sixties!!!Amazing
your videos are the best ever and very professional!!!Thanks!
There are no Fenders in this video!
Damn those Tape Wounds sound great.
Great video! Thanks a lot! Very useful!
All RUclips was waiting for it.
Great comparison, and grooves.
Everything sounded great on the Sandberg but I liked the nickel coated best. On a P-style bass I've really come to love flats for everything from blues and rock to slap funk.
I was waiting to hear Stainless Steel strings as well. I do not think they sell Galli strings here in the USA. Another Great video!
2nd part is very useful!
It shows why flawound strings was best choice for me :-)
Is there any supplier/retailer here in the U.S. who sell Galli Strings? Awhile ago I purchased the D-Tuned strings and absolutely loved them! As I went to purchase them again, they were off GC and weren't on any other website that shipped to the U.S. I had to buy Dean Markley's :( ... (Don't get me wrong, Markley's are great, but come on, they are no Galli Strings.)
Like the flatwounds and the coated nickels... :)
Awesome review, do they have coloured ball ends like Diadarios?
great playing! and great strings, I love also Galli Saturn strings, since they have a 50-110 or 45-110 gauge... I need the E string at 110!!
I use Galli Magic sound stainless steal 40-120 Lovely warm sound last long I do 5 hour gigs and they are smooth great if you slide a lot you wont get blisters they last around 5 gigs before i need to change them. Bass strings are so expensive so i keep my hands clean and have towel near me when I gig . Thanks bass world great videos maybe when I'm good enough I'll make a demo video for your channel.
I agree with you 200 % on the hand washing and on expensive the strings are
Thank you .
What's the meaning of comparing strings played on different basses, with compression and EQ?
OMG Primus shirt !
Hi Gregor, the only problem is you can only get some at amazon... :/ the usuals suspects do not offer Galli strings...
You can order directly from Galli
I like the black nylon stings. Do they last long?
Awesome, usefull and inspiring thx.
Great video
Why do u change the strings at the same time? is not better to change the strings one at a time?
can you compare magic sound strings by Galli (steel) with the rockbass strings (nikel)?
perfect video.
how you call that "hamm" cancel at the neck on 6:15 and where i can buy one like this?
it's a Fret Wrap by Gruv Gear
how i love you hehhee.. thx very so much...
If you shop around a bit you can find a hair band that will do the exact same thing, probably five for 5 dollars or something. Or you can spend a LOT more for a 'professional' string mute (not the one in the video but I can't remember the name). Not to bash whoever invented this product, but to me it's a big rip-off to charge 30-40 dollars for something like this, which they do.
good job, I like all these, the two Sandberg are with pickups Kloppman?
Thanks!!
yes, 60's Kloppmann single coils. But the red one has them in the regular 60s positions while the burst ones are both 1cm closer to the bridge
Can you tell me, please, what type of 5-string bass that is? (Maple fretboard, P-bass pickup) Brand, model and where it's made? Thanks
It's an a FBass from Canada
Did I miss the D-Tuned set at the end? Would've been nice to hear on the same riff? Or did I just completely miss it?
iansanemusic it's basically rounds but in a thicker gauge. Basically useless for the end comparison
How does those nylon strings work on a magnectic pickup? Do you have a piezo pickup in your basses?
They have a steel core
It would have been more nice and accurate comparison if all the string sets would first be tried on the same bass to hear the actual differance between them and then as bonus all the clips that you have done in this video on different basses.
fuck the strings, that f bass sounds a-m-a-z-i--n-g
3:47
Oh Sweet Music
And where are the knobs on Sandberg???
Is Nickel smoother texture than roundwound?
Im interested with black nylon, sounds like muffled-tone zero.. What genre is it useful for?
I Love Your Primus Shirt
nice t-shirt!
Poor B string :(
the b-string wasn't even used in any of these tracks... is this trolling?
No, in anyway. Im just saying i'd like to have heard the b-string, since u are showing 5-string sets aswell, why not show dat fatty b-string :)
+BassTheWorld.com
"the b-string wasn't even used in any of these tracks"!! do u see that a good excuse man !! hhhhh
why u didnt put at least one track fore 5 strings ?? how could i hear the B string then !!
plus i see with the same tracks u can use the b string normal ..u can add notes inside the groove its not big deal
specially the player is good ....any way thxx and good demo ..i had fun with it
Schade.
Schau das Video mal bis zum Ende...
Nickel simply and sound like real bass
Is it just me, or is there a lack of American bass guitarists? All of the bass guitarists featured on this channel are European: Wojtek Pilichowski, Pascal Mulot, Hadrien Feraud, Federico Malaman, Steve Lawson...great players all, but nobody from the other side of the pond? No Justin Mendal-Jonsen, no Reggie Hamilton, no Marcus Miller? Not even Wooten?
it's a logistical question, i think. Gregor is from Germany, the videos are shooted in europe.
send these guys over, I'll gladly record them ;)
I'm American and music is universal, relax, enjoy the variety of great players.
I didn't mean to put down the channel, or any of the players; I just wondered why most of the bass guitarists were from Western & Central Europe, & not the U.S.
Sorry I wasn't picking a fight, bass players are usually laid back,I guess your question was answered above.I like this channel and I was just defending it.Your question was valid though.
Primus sucks !
ok
MrToonfish and your mom too
My parents are dead for a long time thanks... And by the way you don't really know why we say : Primus Sucks ! Please ask yourself the right question before insulting my mom. Thanks.
Bar Goldstein Hahahahaha.
Stupid
PRIMUS SUCKS!
RIP B string
+Pradhana F Wicaksana
loool yes u r right...
diferent strings on diferent bass??? where is the comparaison??
4:09
There are no Fenders in this video!
has not, in this video, and I had not said this......Fender jazz bass and Kloppmann 60 .....Look for this video on Session Kloppmann Jazz Bass 60s Set
It is just my opinion, but a good strings review/comparison should be done with NO EQ and NO COMPRESSION, using the same instrument in passive operation, better with only one pickup in the sweet spot, so that all sound differences would be determined by the strings and by the touch of the player. For sure, I will never buy a set of Galli strings basing myself on this review/comparison.
Marcello Ney did you watch the entire video?
The bass player/ demonstrator is too percussive. Not very helpful for someone like me. I'd like to hear a solid fluid riff/line/solo anything. Everything starts to blend when it's all one style
primus sux
So much hair
Black nylon is out of tune
Ernie Ball is still better
Bar Goldstein not really
Javier Reyes why not?
Ernie Ball strings got nothing on Galli. EB strings die fast and feel horrible.
sounds good, but where is the stainless steel
