    To everybody commenting about the differences in distance in the sheet, different cars count different distance because the margin of error is calibrated differently in different cars. The distance according to Google Maps is 615km. Starting point is as always Circle K Sandvika, turn around point is Togstasjon Kristiansand and end point is Circle K Sandvika. If you plot this into Google maps it will show 621km, however that is not correct because Google Maps routes you around Varoddbrua-Tunnelen because for some reason it thinks the tunnel is closed, which it is not. Real distance is 615km, and every car travels the exact same distance. However, I some times stop along the route for a toilet break off camera. I then stop the timer, and in these cases the actual traveled distance may be 200m - 500m extra, which does not account for any real difference in distance.

      Thanks, this could be an annotation so people would stop wondering. 👍
      Is the consumption corrected for real distance?
      A car reporting less km would have lower consumption in kWh / 100 km than indicated because the fixed amount of used kWh should be spread over a higher number of km (if this makes sense).

    Of you run the Tesla m3 again, what is fair, it’ll be a close call. Then... you also should do this one again. You missed rather much charging speed... 125 iso 108... the car will Normally reach the 108 around a 40% of charge.
    So you charged more then 30% with a lower then possible charging speed because the chargers couldn’t handle it.
    My suggestion would be to recalculate the extra time (must be around 3-5 min) and subtract that from your actual time, or to do it again. I would choose the first option;)
    Anyway great video Chris!

    What`s the point of this test?? They all cover different distances (its in your chart that ID.3 made less 20 km then the TM3 LR, its not a simple toilet break is it?), with total different weather conditions (11 C with quite different of 2.ª for a electric car) and the more important is time they took? Was the traffic exactly the same? So autonomy and efficiency don't matter, because if they do, TM3 LR is the best of all 3...

    • @KrisRifa
      @KrisRifa  3 года назад +1

      I explain the point within the first 30 seconds. The point is to complete the route which is 615km the fastest. They alle cover the exact same distance, but report different distance because of how the different manufacturers calibrate their cars differently. I cannot control weather and temperature, can you? That's why the same cars will be tested several times in a year. I talk about the difference in temperature in the video, seems like you didn't even watch the whole thing since all you questions are answered in it. I also address some of your questions in my pinned comment at the top. I also talk about traffic, which is also another thing I cannot control. Before you do the same extensive testing of all these cars on a timed route like this you cannot just simply state that TM3 is the best. I don't make that claim about any car, the results speak for them selves. And until I get to test that car again in midler or warmer conditions, I cannot claim that either - even though that is probably is. Before it actually goes through the test again, the results are the results.

      What could it possibly do better? 5 minutes less charging time maybe because consumption is a bit lower. So what? The limit in this test is the norwegian speed limits and not the cars any more :). You'd have to do a test like this on german autobahn to see the true advantage of Model 3 which is lower air drag. At 100km/h the difference does not matter much, at 160 it does.

  • @CosmosRays
    @CosmosRays 3 года назад

    Hi Kris, your spreadsheet is rather inconsistent but I do appreciate the fact you did mention the LR Tesla Model 3 was done in -7 and the ID3 in current temps.
    How can you have the Tesla travel much further, have much lower consumption but not be top of your list?? If you travelled the extra 20km in the ID3 to make the distance fair compared to the Tesla then the ID3 wouldn’t have completed in less time?
    I think fairness where fairness is due and you either have to ensure the metrics are the same on your test runs. I think the people who look at the actual Data will still see the Tesla M3 even in much lower temps and the doing the further distance would win and be on top.
    This is an observation and not a criticism so keep up the good work. 👍🏻
    Edited - To add the fact I’ve just read your own comment further down the comments list explaining the distance. So I now appreciate the distance should technically be the same for all. 👍🏻
