demoncleaner80 tambura refers to several stringed musical instruments, so you are right on the actual name. all depends on location, and india it is the tanpura.
The problem with the american industry is that all bands are hostages of themselves... It is a matter of mentality. All these "great" european artists started doing their music and if you liked, good for you, was a very personal thing. On the other hand, the united states was in a state of "trends" after "trends" that every band joined and once they got a hold of it, they never left it. That is why USA bands are totally stuck up in their own style..
It's amazing how Arjen Himself takes the time to respond youtube comments when the majority of famous musicians don't even care, one of the best composers out there.
Loved the track. I have been waiting anxiously for the album. And I must confess that Arjen's face during the sitar solo made me laugh out loud, he's like "Dude, I'm rocking out with a sitar, how good life can get?", that's priceless!
What u talkin about. Sounded nor looked anything like india. More persia/arab look and sound for me. Maybe some mughal feel about it. just a teeny little bit
***** Sounded like western song of course. But you are right there's a little mixing with middle eastern looks especially the clothes but rest was all indian , the architecture , the instruments spices incense and other exotic stuff all are very Indian.
wow! anneke is the best female voice in the world and Arjen....Arjen...Arjen... A GENIUSSSSSSSS! grazie per utilizzare la voce di Anneke, fantastica! Arjen ti voglio cosi' fino alla fine dei tuoi giorni...
Anneke has always been a jovial person but has she ever looked so joyously happy as she does here? She is clearly proud of this project, and rightly so.
God I love heavy metal!! You can listen extreme-brutal-abrasive-full-core songs and songs like Shores of India, a beautiful yet powerful song, I headbang this song all along and can't stop listening...
Ok Anneke's voice makes me happy but her smile captures me like I feel a mixture of happy to be alive and sad that I will never see her in person. If I live again, my quest will be to marry her. My God, her voice and presence is so Godlike
It's been almost a year since the release of The Diary, but I still get goosebumps and feel like I'm listening to it for the first time. Such an amazing album!
This song makes me think of Orphaned Land for some reason, the middle eastern tinge, I guess. Anyway, always wanted to see Kobi on one of Arjen's projects.
Fantastic job, as could be expected. Arjen and Anneke are absolutely incredible separated but together form something unbeatable. Video excellent, with great ambiance and creates that feeling if want to be living in the history of the album. Congratulations! (ah, I don't like to mention my favorites early, but The Storm, in both versions, has been the song that I hear more - and deserves a lyric video haha). Great release! Cheers!!
This song is catchy and wicked beyond belief. Leave it to Arjen. Have always loved how he constantly evolves but also adds it layers of ethnic instruments. A composer of the highest order.
Anthony made a great job, as always. I missed him. Those who didn't know him can seek Ayreon or Ambeon or Stream of Passion. He has really done wonderful things. Tyvm Arjen
OMG words cannot describe how epic this clip is. Long love to my dear Anneke and the master Lucassen! wonderful job you have done in this album, such beautiful harmonies, instrumentals and vocals
Dit album is echt haar beste werk ooit! Dit nummer en The Endless Sea (Gentle version) zijn echt amazing!!!! Maak graag veel meer van dit soort nummer! Gouden stem!
My God!!! Arjen and Anneke together??? Awesome!!! I really love what you did in the past with Astrid in AMBEON, amazing stuff by the way, but with this one you'll sure blow my mind!!! Greetings from México!
Hi Arjen and Anneke. This album is a dream come true! Ive been a huge fan of Anneke's singing every since I stumbled across her duet with Within Temptation. Ive been listening to Arjen since The Human Equation came out, and Ive been enjoying every subsequent album more and more. You are really honing your songwriting, everything Ive heard from this album is excellent. #applause But if I may be so bold as to say, I think Shores of India could have rocked even harder if the verse's rhythm was in double time. Just a hunch! :D
***** In the end it wasnt a matter of fast or slow actually. Just more... oomph, for the lack of a better word. The problem is, In the meantime Ive heard the album version. And now I have to eat my words haha! Its has OOMPH, those few bars here and there where the drums and guitar ad more texture. Absolutely spot on! Same with Endless Sea (Storm). The way it builds over time. These "radio" versions, as awesome as they are, didnt showcase the songs' full scope, as ive come to realize now. Thanks for a great album!
Oh, and "The Moment" might be my favorite song on the album. The way Anneke hits those notes make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up! I can't imagine anyone else sing it.
To all the people who think it is more middle east than India, It Is India, as someone from india I can confirm this although song is nothing like an Indian song and no indian instruments are used in it. Visuals are definately from india.
its so hard to make this music , i think it take more time to mix all of it together . the voice with brilliant composer and we have this amazing song i hope to keep go on like this ^^
Oh wow! This song is epic!! Congrats Arjen for the brilliant result, and you too Anneke, amazing vocals. Some parts of the song sounded like something from Arabia or Babylon, reminded me a bit of a certain Richie Blackmore song! 😜 i love it, and I an't wait for the full album.
Great video and music composition.Arjen i would like to hear a cover of the old "The gathering" songs (mandylion, nightime birds) with your personal music taste on them if its possible.
***** I'm not sure how that is relevant to my comment - I was trying to make a humorous reference to the Rainbow track "Gates of Babylon", which some parts of this song reminded me of.
Anneke's smile is simply heart-warming :)
Mono Jira totally agree
When Anneke is happy, everybody witnessing it are too.
not only her smile....
@@pohle1303 Also her voice, beauty and charisma! 🥺🥰 A DUTCH ANGEL
I concur
Arjen playing "electric sitar" made me smile. The Shores of India is a voyage worth listening to.
its a tambura
minghag Tanpura, I think. Only because I got curious and Googled it.
demoncleaner80 tambura refers to several stringed musical instruments, so you are right on the actual name. all depends on location, and india it is the tanpura.
minghag you are absolutely right. it is the tanpura, and it is definitely not played like a sitar or a guitar. :) nice music though.
Viktoria VanHolten It seemed like it didnt have strings on it haha
I really wish American musicians were more like this. The level of creativity I see from European musicians is just so unmatched. Awesome song!
Anneke looks just gorgeous.
It's amazing how Arjen Himself takes the time to respond youtube comments when the majority of famous musicians don't even care, one of the best composers out there.
Everything with Anneke is fantastic! What a beautiful voice!!!!
Her voice is incredible...
absolutelly perfect. the whole album is perfect. I cannot stop listening it. After few weeks of listening it, I must admit I am addict to it.
Loved the track. I have been waiting anxiously for the album. And I must confess that Arjen's face during the sitar solo made me laugh out loud, he's like "Dude, I'm rocking out with a sitar, how good life can get?", that's priceless!
It's been a while since I listened.... got goosebumps again when the choir started to sing! :D
Me too
Same here, in 2022!
Wonderful performance and this album is surely a must for the fans of the valuable music art ! Many greetings from Bulgaria.

What u talkin about. Sounded nor looked anything like india. More persia/arab look and sound for me. Maybe some mughal feel about it. just a teeny little bit
*****
u clearly dont have slightest idea of vastness of indian culture.
not the slightest? come on

Sounded like western song of course. But you are right there's a little mixing with middle eastern looks especially the clothes but rest was all indian , the architecture , the instruments spices incense and other exotic stuff all are very Indian.

Wow! what a great song!!!!!!!!!!!
God, that stringless sitar! Hahaha I love that guy!
Ok Anneke's voice makes me happy but her smile captures me like I feel a mixture of happy to be alive and sad that I will never see her in person. If I live again, my quest will be to marry her. My God, her voice and presence is so Godlike

Fantastic job, as could be expected. Arjen and Anneke are absolutely incredible separated but together form something unbeatable. Sad Arjen didn't sang on this album :(
We need a male voice to sing something in the album too !! hehehe
Excellent video "A + A = The Gentle Storm"
Shores of Babylon - or is it Gates of India? Just kidding, great song, can't wait to hear it live, going to be epic!
***** I'm not sure how that is relevant to my comment - I was trying to make a humorous reference to the Rainbow track "Gates of Babylon", which some parts of this song reminded me of.
