If hype is about snowboarding you are the one unlucky getting skies and the arena, that is meant for indoor sports. Mittens are a common item for any mountain conquer. It's a power grip usually used to deflect incoming force beam.

Thanks for sharing on the equipment. While I don't own any, I like the stuff I've seen from ZipLine.
We have similar outlooks when it comes to clothing- Below is what I use. (These work across the entire season including warmer spring days.)
    BASE LAYERS-
    BOTTOMS -
Costco has great low cost underwear leggings (named 32 Degrees). If weather is below 10 degrees, I'll put on a pair of "Middle weight" fleece pants over the underwear. I've skied at 2 degrees (Burrr!!!) and stayed warm the entire time. Thick fleece is an option for those people who get cold easily.
    TOPS-
For upper base layers, Costco (32 Degrees) base layer. From there I use a I use 1/4 zip T-neck technical tops. I wear a Spyder full zip sweater. Depending on overall outside temps, I'll use a North Face Apex vest. It's wind stopper so it keeps all the heat in when necessary, and will easily unzip to let the heat out. It also does not hold cat hair or lint like fleece. On warmer days (26 Degrees & up) I'll skip the sweater and just use the vest.
GLOVES-I use glove liners when below 15 Degrees.
I have a Bula Balaclava I'll wear when it's really cold.
    OUTER LAYERS
Shells only - (Gore-tex or other similar). Down stuff / Insulated is not versatile. If you need more heat retention, layer up more!
    PANTS-
Full side zip shell pants. 2 different versions. Bibs & Hip height. When things get hot you can always vent from the top of the hip down. Also, It's so nice to come in from a full day of sliding and just peel the bottoms off like a stripper! My bibs have a "Ass escape hatch" a zipper that starts mid thigh, and "horshoes" over the buttocks. It allows the wearer to drop trow in a hurry without having to remove jackets, or suspenders. This is also handy when having to use outdoor sani cans.
    JACKETS-
Full venting (pit zips), detachable hood, & powder skirt, front zip, with internal thumb strap wrist gaiters. When coming in with wet snow, the best is a simple front zip. You don't have to drag the wet stuff over your face and head as with pull-over types.
    GLOVES-
Again I go with the best deal. I use the Head gloves from Costco. They also has a zipper pouch that will hold a "Hot Hands" heat patch. I've never needed it, but hear its nice on super cold days.
Each year, I buy 2 pair, as they are under ~$20 and easy to have multiple spares for cold / wet days.
    POLES-
Goode Carbon fiber pencil shafts! Unbreakable, light, feathers! Always get the large baskets!
    All the best,
    Mo-

Love the JJ's. Started using them when they first came out and went through 3 pairs (mounted with telemark). My only critique is that toward the end of a powder day when things get a bit skied out, they are easily deflected. Went to the (slightly narrower) M-Free 108's and that cured that problem. But if that's not an issue, the JJ's are great!

I recommend merino wool for everything with direct contact to the body. I most often sweat pretty strong and the merino just takes all the smell, I can wear it for prob. a week without it smelling sweaty. Socks would be my number 1 upgrade, solid merino ones dont even cost that much and the difference was huge for me.

I just honestly did ski lesson for the first time and after learning the fundamentals it was amazing and I then went on like 7 times and honestly I wanna go again so bad.. its like a hobby just ignites in me or something.. Honestly alot people hated the instructors because she was strict but I lowkey likes her because if she wasn't strict I don't think I would know any fundamentals or do it correctly. What a good start of my ski journey. I wondered, do you go every winter or how does it work?

    • @adamc.m.2145
      @adamc.m.2145 Год назад +1

@@assassin7250 that was actually exactly how I felt when I re-learned how to ski after not skiing for about 6 years or so. But to answer your question, yes, I ski every winter, but I often have to make time for it, but skiing has, throughout the years, become of my favorite hobbies if not my favorite. Thus, I typically try to clear up my schedule in the fall and early winter so that I am able to get in as much skiing as possible. For reference, this was my typical winter schedule after I got back into skiing:
January - Not much skiing, but maybe a day trip or two to a nearby mountain
February - 1 trip to a mountain and stay there for 2-3 nights
March - as a beginner, I never skied much in March but I would go for 1 day to a nearby mountain if it snowed
This was just my schedule as a "beginner" skier, and it looks much different now. However, most of it depends on where you live and whether or not any mountains are in close proximity of you. For instance, my half-sister lives in North Carolina, and she loves skiing but North Carolina is a pretty flat state that receives little snowfall annually so she isn't able to ski anywhere nearby. She'll often fly to Colorado once each winter to ski there.

Had the Dune jacket, also annoying if you wear bibs and half to use the bathroom, have to take helmet (big head, helmet didn't fit through) and jacket off to bring bibs down because it doesn't unzip all the way.

I didn’t even know ski straps where a thing! I’ve lost a ski before in 3ft deep snow and had to dig around for like 20 mins to find it

You can also use florescent surveyor's tape as a cheap alternative. Toss a roll into your gear bag at the beginning of the season and never worry about not having it...
Tie 6-8ft it to the bindings or brakes, and then stuff them up your pant leg. Works every time.

If you wear a cotton T-shirt while skiing, you are making a big mistake. Cotton is really bad for cold temps as soon as it gets sweaty.
