Growing up in New Orleans, I remember eating our fish cakes or balls with potatoes. This was a treat on Fridays. Thanks for posting.

I have always been trying to find a method of cooking Sand Trout. I think some sand trout along with some shrimps or mud bugs would work for fish cakes. Kick it with a little OldBay. BAM!!!

If you add a half cup less of bread crumbs, you may only need 2 eggs and your cakes will have more moisture.

looks yummy. One of my favorites is take a fish filet, (any salt water fish that you like) place on a greased cookie sheet, cover with French salad dressing, bake at 350 for 30 minutes.

Here in New England, Cod cakes where what we ate for lent with baked beans or mac and cheese for lent on Fridays. Being the oldest of 8 it helped stretch out some fish, but I loved them.

Very close to my own grandma's method. Her only variations were to dice the veggies extra fine and poached fish, and she liked to bread the outside before frying. Gramps woulda been pissed if she had "wasted" his speck fillets on fish cakes though. I can hear him now...."Dat's what dem damm redfish are for".

No never tried this. But I really love crab cakes and crawfish pies. My cuz boils sheepshead in a sack in a big crawfish pot. Like if you're boiling crawfish with all the seasonings and it is great! When its done the skin and bones peels right out easily. And it's like pure crab meat. Have you all ever heard of that? Are tried it? Those fish cakes looked really good. Good job🙂

Looks good. So, Theresa isn't Cajun, is she? Her sauce is good but you could "kick it up a notch" by either adding horseradish or just getting a little remolaude sauce. Also, mentioned previously here, boil your fish with a little crab boil in it. This recipe works great for the black drum too.

LOVE THIS VIDEO AND RECIPE.....done similar to this recipe.......boiling fish sounds too harsh, .........they were poached, yeah, thats' the ticket, poached........besides panko, try grinding up tortilla chips, or flavored crackers, like italian, herb seasoned, or even plain or flavored Potato chips(MIXED WITH BREAD CRUMBS TO TONE DOWN THE "SALTED" CHIPS). Another trick to get fish that consistency is steamed, same COOKED effect---- less wet. steaming liquid can be wine, fruit juice, spices, fruit slices. works great. KEEP UP THE GREAT VIDEOS!

If you're gonna cook fish twice, you might as well skip the boiling, and smoke some Blues or Spanish or Kings. Something nice and oily. Then make your Trinity and combine and do... nice hanging out with y'all again in the kitchen.

Oooooh-weeee! Ya'll, great recipe - can't wait to try on the next inshore catch! We use only unrefined Organic coconut oil for all of our high heat frying - really gives a nice flavor for any seafood especially. Blessed Trinity - are you all Catholic - just wondering(cool if you are)?

I’ll Cajun recipe start off with bell pepper onion and celery. Since everyone in south Louisiana is Catholic it’s jokingly referred to as the Blessed Trinity. Cajuns to Cajun anyway.
