    Stephanie Trick always delivers stunning performances. An amazingly talented young woman breathing new life into some of the all time greatest music. When she and her other half play together then you get to see great showmanship too. Nice video; good to see a clear view of the keyboard from both ends: This allows us to see her keyboard skills so clearly.

      envy their skill and finesse.

    Skip to 1:45, where the music starts. No - skip to 3:04, listen to the music and look where she looks to:
    It's a challenging melody, played with harmonies in the right hand, but she looks - left, to the "simple" ump-ta part of the left hand. This is what makes stride, the big movements which have to be watched - the melody come by itself(?)
    3:20 next part - eyes are left. Same at 3:35.
    But, at 3:51, the phrase creeping up gets her attention - eyes on the right hand, 60% of the time.
    Love that gal for her skills!!

    • @spassgamer
      @spassgamer 4 года назад +1

      I am a piano player myself and yes, those jumps have to be supervised :P I mean, the tricky part is also that the pinky does a kind of walking base line and the chords change every bar. The bass, so the pinky, is crucial for the whole harmony, because it is the base note. So one slip and the listener notices it at once, whereas little slips and the right hand are not that bad for the overall impression. I hope I will be able to play this song life Stephanie Trick one day. It would be the coolest thing for me :)

      Hi Paul SJ - Stephanie never ceases to amaze me. There can't be too many performers whose little fingers can be so widely separated at the same moment, and with such precision. I also have been very interested in where her eyes are focused during a song, as there is so much territory to cover. I was a big fan of stride long before Stephanie was born and to me she is something of a miracle in preserving this unique style. Her grace, knowledge and audience rapport bring a lot more along with the notes being played. And I found her by accident ( like San Andreu band!) and I am so often grateful for RUclips's introduction to me of so many fine performers.

       @spassgamer I know - once played Chopin waltzes in another life ;) Lucky me is a left hander - "strong" left pinkie ;)
      @@dpidave OIC - common favourites!
      I was lucky to see both live - Stephanie in Ulm, "Jazz ladies plus two" with Nicki Parrott, me sitting at the front table, right at her feet, best view to the keyboard action - what a blast!

    Wow, in the left video, looks like someone stuck a phone on a tripod to make a different recording -- the combination of "bringing a tripod" and "not bringing a video camera" seems incongruous to me, hehe....

    • @arpegepiano
      @arpegepiano  6 лет назад

      There was a screen on stage, so everyone in the audience could see the hands doing their thing. That is what the incongruous camera was filming. You just don't see this screen on this video.
