  • We picked up this high specification Mark 1 Ford Focus Ghia for under £200 - it is wearing its miles and years with a few dents and a bit of corrosion, but is mechanically spot on and came with a near full 20yr service history. So, we thought we would feature it here on the channel and share some of the history of this class leading and radical compact family car.
    We hope you enjoy watching - please do hit subscribe as we have lots more cars to come over the coming weeks, and do leave us a comment as it’s great to hear from anyone watching our content.

    Great cars, I still have my 2001 mk1 2.0 focus that I bought in 2003 with 17k on the clock. 134k on the clock now but serviced every year and still going strong!

    Great video, I am on my third Mk1 Focus. They really are a game changer and great today as they were when released. Mine is a pristine example 1.6 Edge 3 door with 50k miles when bought. These will definitely achieve classic status like the Escorts did.

      Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching, it is great to hear you enjoyed the video. Keep hold of that Edge; it sounds a good one and I totally agree the Focus Mk1 will be a desirable classic of the future.

    Iv had 25 cars over the year's some high enders and average,, of many different makes from Jags to BMWs Sabbes to Volvos and a lovely 190e merc.. but I would put this little focus up there with all off them I love it and I'm going to keep it clean.

    Such a brilliant video and channel I have just found your channel and have enjoyed the videos
    I remember the focus well and remember how it took the hatchback world by storm after the escort
    I wasn’t sure of it at first but soon came round when I drove one! Such an exciting driving car and I had a mk3 ecoboost zetec navigator in frozen white with appearance pack
    My cousin had one of the very first mk1 Ghia made a dark blue 2.0 S979AON and he kept it years as nothing else came close to it for driving experience and build he’s now got a mk3!
    Lovely video keep up hard work

    Thanks so much for this video. I used to own a 2004 1.6 Zetec. Amazing car. The nearest car (in terms of handling) I had ever owned since my Alfasud Sprint in the 1980s. Of course the Alfasud had more character thanks to its four choke carb and flat four engine but it lacked the Focus' reliability and day to day driving experience.

    Outstanding vid, mate! I love the Focus Mk1, even though we never owned one at home, it was a car I dreamed of owning one day. Great engines, great design, great quality, absolutely awesome!
    Me being a fan of wood trims, I was disappointed that Ford never offered it here, in Brazil not even in the Ghia, hahah!

      @cornishcarcollectors  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for the comment; great to read that you enjoyed the video. The Focus Mk1 is a brilliant car, whether it be a base model right through to the RS. They have been a familiar sight on the roads here for nearly 25 years and only recently started to become more scarce. Do stay tuned to the Channel as I do own a Focus RS Mk1 and will be featuring it over the spring and summer.

    The MK1 Focus was actually made up until 2008 in Argentina. For some reason, the first version of the Mk2 was never sold in Brazil, where they kept the facelifted version until 2009. Apart from the Zetec 1.8 and 2.0 L engines from launch, from 2004 onwards it was offered with the RoCam 1.6 8v engines, less powerful but more durable than the 1.8 16V, and also the 2.0 Duratec engine, with a healthy 147 hp, which made that the most powerful version of the Focus for years until the new direct-injection engines came to the scene in 2013. And trust me, a late model Duratec is an absolute blast to drive. Think of it as a budget St170 (which we never had, by the way). A very solid choice for a first car, as I have made myself.

    Is that video upscaled 720p ? Or why does it look like you have filmed it in the early 2000s ? Omg and the video is not in sync with audio. My brain is going to explode, please do something with that in future vids :)
    Btw sales of MK4 Focus are less than half of all time high Focus sales in 2001 - when the MK1 facelift was released. And the trend is not looking good, most likely Ford will release just the MK4 facelift and that will be the last Focus.
    MK1 was actualy an amazing car in it's time and it is still pretty good even at the 2021. MK4 was from it's launch cheaply made piece of junk. Exterior of MK4 looks like it was copyed from Hyunday or Kia and the interior looks like it was copied from Volkswagen. No original idea, no more unique design like in MK1. It was love or hate, but that made it unique. Also if you compare the inflation adjusted price of MK1 with MK4 - MK1 would cost you almost twice the price of MK4 - where the money went when all the materials are getting more expensive ? :D It's cheap junk, don't buy it and let the Focus die before they made it to a crossover like Puma 😭

      @cornishcarcollectors  3 года назад

      Thanks for the comment and for watching the video - I actually filmed this one on an old camera, but have since upgraded to hope future videos won't cause your brain to explode!
      The Focus Mk1 was indeed a good car and let's hope it doesn't morph into an SUV.
      Thanks again and do stay tuned.
