Ok when I fought Klara I was leading Galarian slowbro because he was a psychic type and I soaked up the toxic spikes instantly. Psychic terrain is way better imo it makes his psychic attacks stronger.
Avery: Has a field effect that powers up all his psychic type moves and neutralizes Shadow Sneak and Sucker punch
Klara: Spikes that do not increase the power of poison type moves and can be made useless by steel, poison and Cinderace's Court Change

Klara is the best character this gen. Here is why:
1. She has more personality than any of the base game characters combined. Which also highlights why she is a poison type despite her looks.
2. Absolute Territory (google it)
3. Her theme music is sick!
4. Her intro animation, and D-max animation are also sick!
5. her league card number is "881", which can be read in Japanese as goroawase for やばい yabai, meaning "dangerous". Alluding to her
poison type to all who challenge her beforehand.
6. She picked poison type because there was little competition for poison gym leaders. This means she thinks with her head and is also lazy at the same time. Couldn't ask for more.
7. her headband is Dustox wings

I was like oh wow finally an actual personality in this game. Then the DLC lasted 15 seconds. Imagine if they only put the same effort into the actual gym leaders

And don't forget, she also straight-up tries convincing Honey and Mustard NOT to train you after seeing how powerful you are, in addition to cheating by littering your side of the field with Toxic Spikes before the match! Avery, the Shield counterpart, is similar, but summons Psychic Terrain instead to boost his Pokemon's Psychic attacks and make sure you don't try any priority moves!
Imagine making a pokemon game where the champion is actually respected.
Who would respect a title that just any random kid can get?

that team rocket grunt back in the day decided the best way to guard their secret hideout entrance was too NOT challenge you to a pokemon battle....AND IT WORKED! You had to dress yourself as a team rocket member to get past him. Clearly, him and Klara (and whoever shield has) are the only people with a brain in this series

I know for a fact that The people behind this DLC had the most fun in this Generation. Literally just Honey x Mustard, Klara having insane Animations, and The fact they chose only Bulbasaur and Squirtle without a Charmander. They memed the shit out of everyone.

Alpha saw not her life but the life of JFK and Slowpoke flash before he eyes. That is why her face can not express the depress.
Ironically, her cheating makes sense from a character point of view. She's a poison type pokemon trainer, she wants to become a poison type gym leader, poison is generally used for underhanded tactics when you know you can't win in a fair fight, she's a bit of a b*tch that wants victory at all cost, so it makes sense that after all that she'd make the floor poisonous (and honestly, kind of brilliant. She's the first rival to make an active effort to beat you and throw a wrench in your plans every step of the way other than just training up her pokemon). Her not getting punished for it afterwards is dumb though. He could have at least said "loss is already enough of a punishment. You already tried giving yourself an unfair advantage, but you lost regardless. What does that say about your level of skill? Now you see there's no substitute for good old fashioned training." or something like that

I didn't even think about that but I AGREE; in the narrative you're just some kid who became THE Champion after beating Leon and now you're just up against some [ob]noxious, poisonous, TOXIC person who specializes in 'underhanded' tactics rather than absolute strength amongst "a bunch... uheheh… OF NOBODIES!"(Spinel, Steven Universe: Future) in Mustard Dojo, which may very well be her only family there on the island [if she has any at all] compared to the two sets of identical NPC Elite Trainer triplets (who themselves are ridiculously hardworking/studious as her yet they have eachother), A POLIWRATH, hah, Scraggy!, two random ass kids who clearly haven't experienced enough abandonment to wreck their childish sense of fun and wonder, "oh, the places" that packbacker lady'll "go", and some kung fu Joe-Schmoe. Now you got some legit ag[e]ism appearing in Pokémon's for the first time, MEANINGFULLY, since its inception. I REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY hope we see her backstory in an episode of Twilight Wings or something. And Tim Hill in the comments just made me realize that the player still has their hard ass Pokémon rather than making it any more fair for Klara and others to stand a chance----until you get "the secret armor", COUGH, COUGH, [anti]plot armor.
But she got punished, Mustard made her do some chores in the dojo for 6 months. Mustard says that right after Alpha cut the clip.

When Alpha called Fishious Rend “the funny move” I had Vietnam flashbacks to when I lost an online match because my opponent’s Shiny Dracovish did nothing but SPAM that move. I still liked the video though, had a lot of laughs.
Also, about the Lopunny thing, I like Lopunny because it’s cute and Gardevoir because it’s cool, but I absolutely HATE at least 75% of their fanart communities, and if you’ve searched either of them on Deviantart, you probably know why.

Years later I actually bought and played Sword, not beaten the Crown Tundra yet, but the moment I met Klara I thought: “Why does she remind me of someone?” And then when I got to the dojo and met Mustard I thought “Ah, that’s why. This is OG Dragon Ball, she’s Krillin and Mustard is Master Roshi.” And from that moment on, I found I quite liked Klara. She’s got her issues, sure, but she’s not a horrible person and she does get better, a lot like Krillin did. Krillin went from being a selfish, egotistical brat to a much more humble, selfless man after the events of Dragon Ball and having met Goku. Klara is currently in the midway point between DB Krillin and DBZ Krillin.
