Klara is the best character this gen. Here is why: 1. She has more personality than any of the base game characters combined. Which also highlights why she is a poison type despite her looks. 2. Absolute Territory (google it) 3. Her theme music is sick! 4. Her intro animation, and D-max animation are also sick! 5. her league card number is "881", which can be read in Japanese as goroawase for やばい yabai, meaning "dangerous". Alluding to her poison type to all who challenge her beforehand. 6. She picked poison type because there was little competition for poison gym leaders. This means she thinks with her head and is also lazy at the same time. Couldn't ask for more. 7. her headband is Dustox wings
I was like oh wow finally an actual personality in this game. Then the DLC lasted 15 seconds. Imagine if they only put the same effort into the actual gym leaders
And don't forget, she also straight-up tries convincing Honey and Mustard NOT to train you after seeing how powerful you are, in addition to cheating by littering your side of the field with Toxic Spikes before the match! Avery, the Shield counterpart, is similar, but summons Psychic Terrain instead to boost his Pokemon's Psychic attacks and make sure you don't try any priority moves!
Honestly though. You can't even start this quest until after you beat the game right? You'd think they'd use the fact that your the champion for something. Like why does the player need to learn anything from Mustard if they've already proven themselves to be stronger than his best student.

Ironically, her cheating makes sense from a character point of view. She's a poison type pokemon trainer, she wants to become a poison type gym leader, poison is generally used for underhanded tactics when you know you can't win in a fair fight, she's a bit of a b*tch that wants victory at all cost, so it makes sense that after all that she'd make the floor poisonous (and honestly, kind of brilliant. She's the first rival to make an active effort to beat you and throw a wrench in your plans every step of the way other than just training up her pokemon). Her not getting punished for it afterwards is dumb though. He could have at least said "loss is already enough of a punishment. You already tried giving yourself an unfair advantage, but you lost regardless. What does that say about your level of skill? Now you see there's no substitute for good old fashioned training." or something like that

It's not a new region, it's still part of Galar, just on a separate island. Also, the levels of the trainers' pokemon (Avery, Klara, Mustard, Honey) are on par with post-game levels from the main game, it looks like it was made to be played directly after completing post game on mainland Galar
@ I think the idea from the developers was to catch 6 new pokemon (or use all of the other pokemon you caught over time) for this Mini-journey. The pokemon are scaled on 'your' level (after post game, it is scaled to level 60) and you even get the EXP-pin very early, which encourages to try out new pokemon

Justin Humphrey It's simple. They both use and feature Galarian Slowpoke, which is Poison/Psychic. So one of them had to be a Poison type trainer, and the other had to be Psychic.
Years later I actually bought and played Sword, not beaten the Crown Tundra yet, but the moment I met Klara I thought: “Why does she remind me of someone?” And then when I got to the dojo and met Mustard I thought “Ah, that’s why. This is OG Dragon Ball, she’s Krillin and Mustard is Master Roshi.” And from that moment on, I found I quite liked Klara. She’s got her issues, sure, but she’s not a horrible person and she does get better, a lot like Krillin did. Krillin went from being a selfish, egotistical brat to a much more humble, selfless man after the events of Dragon Ball and having met Goku. Klara is currently in the midway point between DB Krillin and DBZ Krillin.
Can we just acknowledge that Game Freak made a pokemon that starts as a depressed kid, then becomes an edgy teen, then gets up in the tower with a gun. And they named it Incelion?

Ironically, her cheating makes sense from a character point of view. She's a poison type pokemon trainer, she wants to become a poison type gym leader, poison is generally used for underhanded tactics when you know you can't win in a fair fight, she's a bit of a b*tch that wants victory at all cost, so it makes sense that after all that she'd make the floor poisonous (and honestly, kind of brilliant. She's the first rival to make an active effort to beat you and throw a wrench in your plans every step of the way other than just training up her pokemon). Her not getting punished for it afterwards is dumb though. He could have at least said "loss is already enough of a punishment. You already tried giving yourself an unfair advantage, but you lost regardless. What does that say about your level of skill? Now you see there's no substitute for good old fashioned training." or something like that

It's not a new region, it's still part of Galar, just on a separate island. Also, the levels of the trainers' pokemon (Avery, Klara, Mustard, Honey) are on par with post-game levels from the main game, it looks like it was made to be played directly after completing post game on mainland Galar
@ I think the idea from the developers was to catch 6 new pokemon (or use all of the other pokemon you caught over time) for this Mini-journey. The pokemon are scaled on 'your' level (after post game, it is scaled to level 60) and you even get the EXP-pin very early, which encourages to try out new pokemon

@ so after some research I found out that it 'badge-scales', so the level of the DLC is determined by the badges you collected

Justin Humphrey It's simple. They both use and feature Galarian Slowpoke, which is Poison/Psychic. So one of them had to be a Poison type trainer, and the other had to be Psychic.

Years later I actually bought and played Sword, not beaten the Crown Tundra yet, but the moment I met Klara I thought: “Why does she remind me of someone?” And then when I got to the dojo and met Mustard I thought “Ah, that’s why. This is OG Dragon Ball, she’s Krillin and Mustard is Master Roshi.” And from that moment on, I found I quite liked Klara. She’s got her issues, sure, but she’s not a horrible person and she does get better, a lot like Krillin did. Krillin went from being a selfish, egotistical brat to a much more humble, selfless man after the events of Dragon Ball and having met Goku. Klara is currently in the midway point between DB Krillin and DBZ Krillin.
