Hey Pain, I’m the guy behind these conversations with the official Scott Storch account. I have to say that from the beginning, I knew this was a scam because I’ve been in this business for a year, and I’m not very relevant in the music production world since I haven’t released many songs with artists. The reason I was asking about the price was that I wanted to see how far this would go, and sure enough, the moment came when I was told I had to pay in crypto. From the start of the conversation, I never intended to pay, not at all; I was just acting desperate to get more information. I’ve been watching your videos for a while, so I know what not to do. In fact, I have shared the conversations with several music production platforms so people can know what’s going on with these conversations involving famous producers and understand that this is a scam and that they shouldn’t pay. I understand that you didn’t know the context, but the conversation continued and didn’t end very well. I understand that whoever is behind this might be their manager or agency or something like that, but I don’t think it’s ethical to take advantage of vulnerable people like this. Fortunately, I wasn’t one of their victims. This message was just to give you context about the conversation. Sorry if my English isn’t great I’m from Spain, and it’s hard for us to speak a language we’re not very fluent in. Regards, and thanks for spreading this information so people know what to do in these cases.
I have a friend who works in cyber security and AI. You have no idea how easy it is to steal peoples accounts, information, EVERYTHING. Not saying it's definitely not him. Just saying. It's truly scary out here with the scammers. And honestly, your data is already out there for sale legally. Data brokers are selling our data online all day long.
Also the guys that "write" for a major publication and say they can get a New Artist article for a fee but their work can't be found anywhere on those publications' websites. Even if so, little to no engagement.
What I find amazing about this generation is that they don't recognize real. You should have millions of subscribers! And viewers! Your body of work speaks for itself. You're the real deal. I appreciate you for what you stand for. Unfortunately, this generation can't seen to differentiate between what's real and what's fake.
I mesaaged him after seeing his story post about working with him. The same budget questions have been sent to me. He also agreed to $200 promo, which I never paid. When i think about it, it has to be a scam because i still don't see him promoting anyone, and it's very unlikely that no one has paid him for a promo.
Here is another finesse- A radio station DJ (or someone pretending to be that DJ) direct messaging you letting you know that your music is good. You respond with thanks and their immediate reply is that they can help you promote your music to get on radio. Then they want you to engage further and get started with them immediately. I'm like even if this was a real person, they're working too hard, to get me to do something right away, and they have the nerve to get impatient when you don't respond quickly, so I block them.
I have had and still get these all the time. Unfortunately my trust in working with others in this industry has went down tremendously with all these scams.
@DJPain1 Yeah. If it's a real DJ, their hussle may be some under the table play that the station isn't aware of, or possibly they have some quota to fill.
@ItsBlackBeardBaby I definitely know what you mean. Even if the person reaching out is real, since you haven't worked with them, you never know if they will deliver. No matter how established they are.
Glad you mentioned it happens to artists as well. I rapped for 10 years before switching to production and they definitely tried me all those years. Fortunately when I was green (17-21 yrs old), I was broke.

Victim blaming is probably their thought process too: dog eat dog world, these people deserve it for being so dumb, so cognitively inferior or naive. I hate scammers with a passion. My mom has white matter disease and she can’t read through the lines sometimes. She doesn’t deserve it. Neither does the Jordanian kid who works 16 hours a day for the equivalent of $20, passing out from paint fumes, and thinks his life might actually be looking up.
Gas station 💯

BOYYYYYY ya'll don't know how many times I got hit up in my DM's specifically on Instagram from accounts claiming to be either a Multi-Platinum Producer or somebody claiming to be the manager of the Producer in the past and just like ya'll said you really have to connect the dots as to what moments you've had for this to be happening and I can honestly admit that I was more blinded in my earlier years to this due to desperation but now I just screenshot the messages and discretely send them to the actual Producer or Artists & call it out like "is this you?" because to be fair I feel like you never know and if I was already a Major Producer & Artist already I would want to know who's impersonating me so I can post about those accounts to my fans & spread awareness & report them so I'm not putting a bad taste in others mouths & spreading false narratives to my community..
I love that you guys really hit home with this one DJ Pain 1 🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿
Easy answer: Back to Hard copy CD's Tapes Vinyls.
Been getting these since 2020, the pandemic hit major artists hard. I have some legit DMs from verified celebrities offering “promo” starting at $300-500 for a shoutout.
