Good compliment to 1st video. Yep giving away all the secrets. My brother and I used washers behind the retaining washers for the upper control arm bushings on his 65 442 in 1971. A lot of other tricks too. Everything then was made by hand right down to the ladder bars that worked with the stock control arms on the back. That car took off so hard no one could believe it. I just picked up a 70 lemans, it was my niece's bracket car for 10-12 year but has been sitting in storage about 10 year now. basic setup is a SBC/glide/9" with a roll bar & basic weight reduction, it ran low 12's @ 105, so nothing crazy. After watching this I know I need to go through the suspension. I will be referring back because a lot of info is in this and the rear suspension video. I really appreciate the information!!!
Great content! Redoing the rear end now, 12 bolt, 33 spline, Moser ford bearing ends. Looking at the TRZ stuff mentioned in rear end but now the front will need attention as suggested in this video plus double adjustable shocks. Funny how things have changed! Thought I was the man in 1990 with my 454, Lakewood adjustables front and rears, polyurethane bushings, instant center correction bars, boxed/braced uppers and lowers, M&H Racemasters. 66 Chevelle ran low 12's on pump gas with the mufflers with tailpipes. Drove it to and back home from the drag strip. Enjoy your videos thanks!

Sir thank you so much for your time explaining all of this. I have learned a lot. I thought I knew enough from researching forums but you have taught us all a lot and thank you for that. I have a g body lowered with big block I've done everything you've talked about in the rear 4 link except shocks. What shocks should I use. Thank you again for your time.
@@KevinWilsonSBC Thank you sir I was curious as to what rear shocks you would use on a lowered g body with bbc again I have done everything to the rear you've talked about. Thanks again
@@danielchitwood5485 Sorry about that... lots of variables involved here with power levels, gearing, transbrake, 4 speed, etc... I would start with Viking Crusader for street / strip stuff, but for full track car, I would go Penske or Afco. Go fast, go straight! Be SAFE!!
Thank you Kevin I've been watching your videos for some time and totally enjoy them. I have a 69 Chevelle Big block car that I bracket race. I have installed QA1 double adjustable coil overs front and Strange double adjustable coil over conversion rear with tubular front A-arms. I have installed a S&W double adjustable ladder bar kit in the rear. In your opinion would I be better off making the mods to the rear suspension you describe here and make it a triangulated four link? Thans in advance for your answer and I look forward to watching more videos.
Thanks so much, John! I appreciate you being publicly subscribed to my channel!! For bracket racing, unless the ladder bar setup is having issues, which should be fixable, I am not sure I would go through all the trouble. S&W makes good stuff 100%! Having said that, the right mods and right components applied to the A-Body as discussed in this series will absolutely work! Go fast, go straight! Be SAFE!!
@@KevinWilsonSBC Thanks for your reply, Kevin I'm not really having any issues it's just the deal where you always want to make it faster and I thought with more adjustability that might be the case. Thanks again for replying and I'll keep watching for your very informative videos. Keep up the great work.
Great video again Kevin! How about a recommendation for a street car (GM-A body automatic) making 450 wheel hp on street tires with a 3.42gr.? I'm currently at IC of 68" 8.3" from the ground. Just looking for a ballpark IC location, as I only go to the strip three times a year for fun. This is a low 12 sec car with actual standard street tires. My mph is ~118. Oh, great ending and nice story!!
Not sure I would change anything unless I better understand the problem you are trying to correct. Likely a shorter IC would definitely help at your power levels which means the rear upper bar mount needs to go up or the front upper bar mount needs to drop. Go fast, go straight! Be SAFE!
For my info I notice when you change the angle of the lower control arm you change it at the rear end. I have no adjustability at the rear end but have adjustability at the front of the lower control arm. So I should be able to raise the front and do the same as you lowering the rear of the control arm? Thanks for all your info
Yes.. effectively the same. On a side note, the lower the bar position is on the rear end it does generally help drive the chassis a tad harder as it is further from the rotation pitch centerline, but now we are splitting hairs. You got, move the front mount point up to add more bite (separation). Go fast, go straight! Be SAFE!!
How much of this relates to a GM B body we are currently building a 1981 4 door lesaber street car (pre 96 is pre smog for diesel in California) 6.0l 450hp th400 3.73 9in 3000 stall foot brake car at about 4200lbs 29inch tire do you think it would be asking to much for 13.50s or so from this set up
Sorry i havn't commented on this till now. Still trying to wrap my head around all of this. I've had to watch a couple times. I am trying to keep this car stock appearing in some aspects. Could a guy run 1" taller upper ball joints, delalum bushings (upper and lower), and an offset shaft... with the stock control and get close to your front end goals? Global now makes a bump steer steering arms to work with ball joints. To give you an idea: low mile 70buick gs aluminum head 466(lighter than bbc), 4k lbs with fat driver, 590hp, 150 shot. Front: qa1 hybrid coil over 350lb springs, no swaybar. Rear: urethane, stock boxed lowers, stock f41 sway, stock shocks, 28x10.5 MTs. 12bolt posi strange hybrid clip eliminator axles. Fresh Moog stock springs. 150lbs i think. None of this an end point. Just what is there now for reference.
Yes, with those parts you will definitely get to the front end specs discussed and have better control of the Camber curve on front end rise. Keep me posted on progress!! Go fast, go straight! Be SAFE!!

Going to put this to work on my '65 Tempest.
Awesome! Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment! Actually had a 65 Tempest in the shop about 5 months ago for an alignment! Dad forgot to snap some pictures as he the owner hit off and talked for about 30 minutes after Dad finished with it. I got to the shop and he was telling me about and I asked "Did you take any pictures?" He just smiled and "I forgot all about it!"
Keep me posted on your progress and send some pics if you can!

Thank you for your knowledge, I'm a new sub working on my 69 I got the double adjustable rear coilover shocks, I'm glad I haven't bought anything for the front,I will contact Global West I do have 2" drop spindles came on the car I bought. Found your instructions very helpful

Daniel, thank-you for the kind words! I appreciate you watching the videos and taking the time to comment! Go fast, go straight! Be SAFE!!
Be SAFE!!
Great video awesome amount of information. Thank you!
Appreciate all the info I'm a g body guy so very helpful
Rachon, you are spot on... G Body and A Body... it all translates!
Thanks these make me want to learn more.
Be SAFE!
enjoyed the stories at the end :)

All good information Kevin thank you "!

Thank-you!! I will keep getting better with it. Thanks for watching and I appreciate your support! Go fast, go straight! Be SAFE!!
Be SAFE!!
I just put new front end in my 70 but put jegs a arms in and they won't let weight transfer got a part number in description for arms?
Keep on streetracing ;) :D
Anti/hop bars work for down angle on the upper control arms 67 chevelle ? Or or should I fab or lower it at the frame
Thanks for the info and video 👍🏼

How much of this relates to a GM B body we are currently building a 1981 4 door lesaber street car (pre 96 is pre smog for diesel in California) 6.0l 450hp th400 3.73 9in 3000 stall foot brake car at about 4200lbs 29inch tire do you think it would be asking to much for 13.50s or so from this set up
Car is super responsive but hazes the tires at 60mph on the downshift

Be SAFE!!

@@KevinWilsonSBC yep racing a quarter mile is the same everywhere around the world. I've been trying to get my 78 Holden down the track and found it has the same suspension as the a body hence the interest in your videos, I thought the last one was going to be a live chat and had some questions but after your explanations I've got a plan, thx
