He probably has so much material, also some songs maybe just doesn't align with his ideas for an album. Some songs waited for more than 20 years to be released(byzantine, for example). Lately, his albums are most entirely consistent of old ideas and demos. And he wrote most of his post pinkerton songs in 2002-2005 and then 2010-2014. Like, almost all songs from VW that we heard are demos from ewbaite era.
The opposite is true. He cares a lot and often it backfires because he holds back the good stuff in favor of absolute dreck. It sells tho so who's laughing?

The problem with Weezer is that their final produced records are too polished. If they stuck to the raw recordings and weren't trying to make them sound perfect we would have a bunch of Pinkerton albums to love.

They'll tease us all with it, then we'll have to come to yt to bootleg it because they'll never put it out. Just like I had to pay $20 for a bootleg of Goat Punishment shit 20 yrs ago. I'd like to know why the good stuff never gets released and the albums sound like crap. If they write all of this, just start dropping doubles. Just release double albums like mad. Nobody does double albums anymore. Stop the bs. Been down since 97, stop toying with me.

I’m 15 minutes in and holy shit this is amazing. Great selection of songs that fit together really well. And I’m yet again frustrated with Weezer. They never stopped making great music but for some reason all the great tracks don’t make it to the album or are altered for the worst by the time they make it to the album. It’s like Rivers doesn’t understand that we like the raw vocal performances. We like THIS sound. Just a little more polished and it’s perfect.
Weezer has so much cool shit on B-sides and Demos/Unreleased stuff. You could probably end up with a solid and consistent discography if you cut all their main album releases.

Holy shit this version of Haunt You Every Day is soooo good. The dark, moody, crunchy garage tone fits it so much better than the brighter polished tones imo.

This is an ACTUAL weezer album. I really wish they’d get with Jake Sinclair and take this exact arrangement of these songs and take it across the finish line. This is crazy. It is unfortunate, however, how much King Of Earth sounds like an incel shooter’s manifesto. Maybe that’s the point? Oof.

Ween and They Might Be Giants are two others that have extensive demo libraries. To me, those are the best types of artists.
The Beach Boys cancelled about as many albums as the average band releases. Check out their recent box sets if you like digging for lost classics!
