Good idea to make a video like this. I wish I knew all this stuff right away as well.
That was such a great guide. It really helped me understand a bit more about the game.
Me who has no interest in speedrunning M64: *Dang, I didn’t think of that.*
If I ever do wanna start at least I know the basics! Nice vid
thanks for this video and your beginner speedrun example video, i got a 1:37 from this but i clouldve easily gotten a sub 1:30 on my first run if i didnt suck at bowser throws. Any tips?
Use the Usamune rom hack if you can, dpad down to open the menu, press the left bumper for level select, and press Bowser 3 to try to get muscle memory down for the throws. With this, I was able to take my 54:40 16 star down to a 29:35.
@@joelwilkerson2235 sorry i play on 3D Allstars, ive gotten a 1:15 now because ive gotten better at bowser throws and i got a little more skill, thanks anyways
How'd you get the controller to show the buttons you pressed in the video? Is there an Xbox one version?
Totally forgot to respond to this, but I use a device that takes the signals from my controller and sends them to my PC. Then use a program that displays the inputs. I have my doubts that theres and xbox one version.
If you go to gamepadviewer.com there’s an Xbox one for emu
the hood watches bluebob sm64 speedrun guide
You're absolutely right they do
Thanks so much for this!
cool vid yo
Thanks toas
How did you get there to be a timer in the bottom of the screen?! Thats awesome! Is it with a Gameshark code?
Yeah that's done with a gameshark code, there are tons to make practicing more efficient!
BlueBobSRL Yea so I've read, I heard Cheese say in a stream once it's kinda essential lol. I was looking into getting one soon, is 3.2 the best option?
Anything 3.x works fine. If you have the money to spare, an Everdrive is much more reliable, and has more functionality, but also comes at a much higher price point.
Which version of SM64/emulator are you playing on here to have a timer while playing a certain stage/star?
I play on an N64 with an everdrive for the codes. The accepted emulator for speedrunning this game is Project 64 version 1.6!
@@BlueBobsCinema Thank you for the quick reply. Appreciate that :)
hey man ur name sounds familiar did u used to play cod as sb bluebob with neros cinema? lmao idk why but I just remembered ur name from like 5 years ago
There's a throwback, yes I did. Stopped when ghosts came out and switched to speedrunning.
does not saving help on emulator?
Not saving is still faster on Emulator, but not by as much
That chest info though LMAO
yo really good
except its 5f not 4f
yeah i like it
neat
what cap card do you use
he uses a emulator
He plays on N64.
he probably uses a GV-USB2
nice man
But doesn't it take 2 frames to hit continue and not save and continue?
Theres a delay between when you can menu and when you can press A, that's also accounted for and not saving is still faster on average.
you have 5f to wk
Yeah this was made long before we found that out.
What
