      Hey Jimmy, Oh yes that's a nice one. I wasn't as into it on the first couple listens, though I caught up with it at the time. That was interesting at the time, as it was hard to imagine TD without Chris at the time. The director is right here and he sez hi. Thanks much for tuning in, and fine weekend your way too. -Carm

    So nice to see another surprise video, though naturally I miss the director.
    For all the TD albums Edgar was putting out prior to his passing, it seems the post-Edgar TD is trying to keep up the pace. It's gotten to the point where I just can't keep up or even keep track anymore of all the constant flow of stuff coming out as much as I admire Thorsten's talents.
    Still, nice seeing and hearing about this!!

      Heya G, I think Rocky was in cahoots with whoever honked behind me in the alley.
      That does seem true about their post Edgar output. For me though, this one I'd put well ahead of the 'Sessions' stuff, and even the 'Quantum' albums. Something special I'm feeling through this one. I'd definitely recommend! Danke for hanging. -Carm & 😸

    Hey Carm! Yes! I was hoping you'd share your thoughts through video on Raum. This is a special album and gives me the tingles as well. Edgar's spirit is definitely felt but seamlessly integrated into modern TD. I didn't realize about the track order from the CD. I'm going to have to give it a listen in the CD sequence. I get the same feels as you about floating upwards and milky bubbles is a very good visual which I'm sure I'm are now going to come into view while listening. Really great review, overview, Carm. And yeah, this is the best thing they've produced since at least Edgar's passing but maybe longer. I sure am loving it and it's clear you are as well. It was nice that it was warm enough that you were able to film outside with sounds of nature peeking in. I hope you and the Producer are both doing well. Let's hope Spring springs sooner than later!

    • @gorvo31
      @gorvo31  2 года назад

      Hey Bill! Well..ya know...I couldn't NOT talk about this.... 🙂 Yes, much agreed on Edgar's spirit infusing this...Even the pieces that his voicings aren't directly used on. Plus the whole group has such a sense of that eternal exploratory spirit that goes back 50 years, and seem to have really found their way through that. I'd say this is one of my favorite things they've done this century....along with 'Seven Letters from Tibet', 'Jeanne d'Arc', and 'Views from a Red Train'.
      I feel the CD sequence for my own taste works well since the most percussive piece is right at the beginning, and the rest of the album feels like it flows more seamlessly. I actually did this on Monday, the rest of the week has been rainy. Found the window that was just open enough for this, ha. Rocky wants you to know he's doing well though is the director, not the producer.... 😸Thanks as always for being here, and here's to more spring all around. -Carm

    Good morning Cuz. I am ready to bounce and do some work. But I wanted to try to squeeze in a few minutes of your Rom. {Review of Raum}. The definition of Raum is a Great Earl of Hell, ruling thirty legions of demons. He is depicted as a crow which adopts human form at the request of the conjurer. I wonder if they knew about this or if it relates to the album's theme or storyline? Are there any original members contributing on the newer recordings? Back to the video. Have a super day~

      Hey Cuz Rob, Well I appreciate you even taking a few minutes out of your busy day for this. I had never heard of that particular definition of raum before....Very interesting! I don't know if that was their intention or not, though I can't quite say that was the imagery evoked for me...I may think of it a bit differently now though, ha! As far as I know, Edgar is the only member they've brought back....so to speak....to contribute to an album. I think some years ago they've done some live stuff where they had a previous member guesting on a few tunes, like guitarist Zlatko Perica. Well thanks for being here, and hope you have a swell day too. Chatta further soon. -Carm

    I definitely have a better understanding of the album now Carm. Fawning Over Raum would have been a great title. It was great to hear that Edgar's past recordings are still being used on the newer releases. Brilliant. I cannot understand why other bands do not do the same thing. Dig out some unfinished parts and edit into newer songs. I guess it all boils down to royalties. Lets just say if Paul wanted to use a Lennon guitar part for his new album. He would have to speak to Yoko first. Getting her to say yes is like trying to open a locked safe with no keys or explosives. Which song/songs have Edgar's arrangements or bit parts on them? Fantastic review Carm. So darn thorough and interesting~

      @gorvo31  2 года назад

      Hey again, Cuz. That makes sense that in general that it would likely come down to royalties with a lot of artists and groups. Ha, You made me laugh about Paul asking Yoko. Hey, you just never know though. From What I understand the TD members seem to be pretty close with Bianca (Edgar's wife) anyway, so it must be quite familial it sounds to be. Edgar is credited with being on the songs 'Portico', 'What you should know about Endings', and the title cut 'Raum'. The whole album blends so seemlessly overall. Thanks so much again, good sir. Glad you enjoyed, and hope you enjoy listening to the album whenever you do. Peace n love. -Carm

    Hello again, Carm. Great to hear your thoughts on Raum. I have literally listened to this album at least once a day since it was released. I think it's the best thing they've done in the post-Edgar years. For me personally, it's a therapy album. Even though I don't have the LP version yet (I really want to get the orange vinyl version), I arranged the tracks in the LP order in my MP3 player. Hello Carm ツ Thanks for your thoughts on this new TD album. I have been into the new TD sound with the latest lineup since Edgar's passing, and it definitely seems that Thorsten's desire is to maintain the sonic signature of the band's history with Edgar at the helm. I didn't realize Paul Frick replaced Ulrich Schnauss, this must be very recent. I have watched their music video with the song You're Always In Time, and you see the 3 members, I didn't think I recognized Paul in the video. I think the spirit of Tangerine Dream is safe with them. Enjoyed! I hope you have a great weekend

      Hey there Wiley, Well thank you much. Nice hearing your own thoughts as a keyboardist/synthesist too. 🙂 Much agreed here, and I don't think I even mentioned Ulrich, did I... From what I understand, he may still be technically in the group, he just wasn't touring wit the group....then again, hes not on this album either. Not quite sure overall, though I know he's had his own solo projects for a long time and he could have just been more involved with that. Either way, yes, Paul blends in seamlessly here with them. I'm really happy with where they are at overall now. Thanks much for being here as always, and fine weekend your way too. -Carm

    Hey Carm, really enjoyable video and review. It really feels like you're well immersed in the music by now, and I love how you summarise it in the end as being in a 'parallel universe' with the other TD albums, especially after you say there are constant references to TD sounds from albums and eras past. It sounds almost like a conversation between past and present, nowhere more so than having Edgar contribute. It sounds like an unexpectedly welcome delight for you and all long Tangerine Dream Fans. I will need to have a listen!! I will also say I just loved how you spoke about sound textures here; it's nice to hear other people also think about music in a similar way :) Good seeing you as always, Carm, take care. Heya Deano, Thanks so much! I felt like I was obsessively gushing here much of the time, though am glad if this conveyed a little something beyond that. Oh yes, well several fans like myself were saying this is their favorite one in ages....a few even had sorta given up on them after the 80's, and this has been the album to bring them back in. We do think similarly, don't we....Well I don't doubt you'd enjoy this. And of course like so much else, it reveals more on subsequent listens depending on mood, attention, context of environment. Hope you enjoy, thanks as always for being here, and hope all is well your way down yonder. -Carm & 😸

    Good review, Carm. You did well with their names too, better than I ever could. I've been enjoying the album too, and I really like it quite a bit more than Quantum Gate, which I have to admit was a bit of a let down for me (though I keep returning to it). As you said, I enjoy the surreal nature of it, and some of those textures. I was really hoping they'd stay away from beats, and not necessarily that, but any sort of techno feel. When I first heard it I thought my copy was defective due to the textures, but now I've gotten used to it. It really brings back the spacey or space element to it and I'm thinking of all the interesting photos we still might get to see from the James Webb Space Telescope, and what we might learn.

    • @gorvo31
      @gorvo31  2 года назад +1

      Thanks much, Dave. Now that you're mentioning Quantum Gate I naturally want to revisit it. The opening cut 'Sensing Elements' to me is worth it for that alone. I like that album overall myself, though yes...Raum is something else altogether, and I feel they're really breaking through to something new and different. I find the textures intriguing myself. I like how the beat-oriented piece opens the album (at least on the CD) and the rest of the album seems to flow better because of that. Yes though, it really feels like space music that they're doing....inner as well as outer. That is exciting about the telescope! Thanks much for being here, and happy listens. -Carm

    Good stuff, Carm. I love this album. Favorite tracks are You Are Always On Time and What You Should Know About Endings. Interesting observation about how some of the music seems to play with the sense of memory and nostalgia. I've felt that with other artists at times (and perhaps here as well) and it's always pretty exhilarating when it happens. Cocteau Twins as well as Tycho do this to me. The thing is they never trigger actual memories, just the sense of memory. A weird phenomenon that certain artists seem to excel at stimulating.

      Hey Scott, Must say first that the CDs arrived safe and sound, thank you. And looking forward to giving them some deep listens soon.
      Glad you enjoy Raum too. Yes it's fascinating about that.....the sense of memory, if not the memories themselves. Or sometimes can make one nostalgic for an unidentifiable or indefinable period, though not one we actually concretely remember. That's partly what keeps one going back to certain music in part. Yes, I find favorite artists can do that. I need to revisit Raum, as it's been a while. Thanks as always for tuning in, and shall catch up with you further soon as I'm able. -Carm
