100% agree with your assessment of the fundamentals course. I attend the week prior to yours. Gave me tremendous confidence and knowledge to work on my rig. In the last 2 weeks, I have taken my furnace apart and cleaned it. I have also had an electrical issue that I was able to troubleshoot and fix based on the info from the fundamentals course. Because of Todd and the staff at NRVTA, I will be attending the tech course in 2023. Great experience and worth money.

Great video Jared. I took took the online home coarse and it was excellent. The price was right I just wished they had more home classes online for like Generators and Solar. I'm retired and on limited income for me there's no way I could pay for on-site courses. It's a lot easier for folks that are starting a new career or RV dealers are paying the cost to send their employees but for me I just want to be able to work on my own RV it's not practical for me to justify the cost. More on-line classes would great.

I attended NRVTA a few years ago, and it's still paying dividends. I went down there with the intention of just taking their basic course, I ended up staying for all five of the tech courses they offered at that time. Great instructors, great facilities, and just all around "good people". I truly believe that attending this course my first year on the road was the single best choice I've made for this RV life. Just passed my 4 year anniversary of living full-time in my RV.

@jonathanhowlette7352 , I want to say it was around $1500 per course. It looks like they have different offerings now, though, so I'd just ask them. As I mentioned before, the courses are all still paying dividends. For instance, right now I'm in Iowa for the winter. My frig stopped working, and my hose connection on the water pump broke off. BUT, and this is what matters. I know those aren't big deals that I need to try to find an RV tech to fix. Thanks to my courses, I knew what and how to check the frig, and I understand the water system enough to know I can fix that myself, too.

Jared, it was great meeting you at NRVTA! I agree with everything you said. I will also say, while the in-person class isn’t cheap, I think it’s a terrific value. I learned so much, and I think I will save more than I spent. Todd did a great job instructing (although he should have laughed more at my jokes) but a bonus I didn’t expect what how much I learned in the labs, and how knowledgeable and passionate the Tech Assistants who taught the labs were.
As for packing a lot into the forty hours, they sure did! And no, I don’t remember it all, but the materials they gave us will remind me when I need the info again. I think any RVer would benefit from the course, and I’m very glad I took it.

I did the course last year. I will be 70 next week and a long time RV’r. Thought about going back for the Inspector course so did the Registered Tech exam at the end of the Fundamentals course. Was not easy. Hardest I have worked in a long time, but good sense of accomplishment when done. All that being said, flying in from the east coast, by the time you pay for a flight, place to stay and transportation you can double the costs for the actual course. So while I consider the course itself to be a great value, the total costs can be steep.

NRVTA, don’t call yourself an RV technician until you’ve taken the tech course, because I’m sorry but “RV tech required, will train” does not even cut it in the slightest! It’s like any joe blow with zero handyman skills, zero RV knowledge gets hired by a dealer and given the glorified RV tech title, and holy cow, so many don’t know what the h@ll they r doing and screw it up more by applying a band-aide solution. 🙄. I see it over and over again. This desperately needs to become a designated technical school required tradesman training to work on the job! 🍻
