Shallow water whitefish (ice fishing Lake Simcoe)

- My first solo trip exploring with the new-to-me snowmobile. Stayed closer to home and hit up Lake Simcoe for some whiteifsh and lake trout. The lake trout did not show up but the whities sure did!
Sure glad I got the snowmobile as there was quite a bit of snow and I was a far ways out, no way would I have been able to hit up this spot had it not been with a machine.

A sled for sure will just open up your ice fishing experience!! No more walking for you! I have a 550f in a 2004 ski doo legend... great motor!!
Yup. I hear the 550f is a great motor, so that's good to hear. My biggest issue with this sled is, it is only a short track and single seater. But so far, so good.

Great day and video. I got a sled this year too. Unfortunately, I lost my first month with it as it had issues. But once I got it going, I fished lots of new water. Ironically, all the fish I caught this winter were within 500 m of my house and I didn't need the machine...

The season came so fast and ended so fast.. sort of. Still time left
I'm in the same boat. I'm not comfortable enough with my ice knowledge and hearing too many stories of guys getting rescued or not making it. I"m gonna end the season early myself but I got skunked this season too. At least my friends caught fish lol
Hey Kevin. Love ur videos. Big fan. Was wondering what’s ur setting at for ur lowrance unit? I’m trying to set up my hook 7 but having troubles. I’m getting lots of clutters on my screen or can’t mark my jig near the bottom. I have the ice transducer also. I’m fishing anywhere from 60’-100’ for Lakers. Appreciate any help. Thanks.
Hey Yoda, sorry to hear you're having troubles. I had some troubles with my lowrance unit too when fishing deeper for ice lakers. I normally didn't have issues with it on the boat. I think it had something to do with the ice transducer or something in the settings. I didn't bother trying to figure it out since I had a humminbird to use as well. Sorry I can't help you with your issue. Only thing I can advise you on is to keep searching online to see if someone else has a solution for you or try fiddling with the settings.

happens all the time! you never need to move too far to find them!
I have seen it many times fishing with buddies. Put down half a dozen lines in a small area and catch most of the fish in one or two holes. Not sure why.

hey i live near simcoe and was wonder where about you got out on the lake everwhere i have been the shore is all broken up i live near the southern end any tips would be apresheated as i would like to make it out a couple more times this year

Awesome video! Kevin, are you recording on your LX-9 screen through the on board microsd card? I noticed you dont have a camera set up in front of the unit itself. I always thought recording on the LX-9 was only for the camera?
Yes, recording to the microsd card. The recording feature records the sonar and camera, when connected.
BFSC Fishing ahh ok so the key is to have the "heads up" option on even if your not using the camera just so it records the sonar.
