    Both my husband and I always include riding the Alice and Wonderland, Mr. Toad’s, and Star Tours as part of our Disneyland day along with the other great attractions on your list. Star Tours and Mr. Toad’s often have low wait times and the Alice ride you can either catch a low wait time during various times of a park day (like rope drop or night) or use a multi experience pass on if using Genie +. These rides hold so much nostalgia for us (we both grew up going to Disneyland often during our childhoods) and were all loved by our daughter for her first Disneyland trip. Star Tours has so many different scenarios and Mr Toad’s and Alice are unique only to Disneyland CA. Also we have to include Webslingers and Guardian of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout on the DCA side.

    • @SoCalDisneyDad

      I love Star Tours, but it makes my wife sick, so I left it off.
      Alice is pretty great, I do admit, but my list was already huge as it is and Snow White edged out both Alice and Mr. Toad for me when it comes to Fantasyland.

    I have a fear of heights, but I feel safe on Soaring. You have a seat belt and you can hold onto handles. The seat you sit on feels secure.

    • @SoCalDisneyDad
      @SoCalDisneyDad  Год назад +1

      My mother in law is afraid of heights. When we took her on, the only way she handled it was placing on foot on my father-in-law’s shoe and the other foot on my shoe (as we were on either side of her) and that helped her feel “on solid ground”.
      Otherwise, she wasn’t having it. So I like to mention the fear of heights for folks in similar situation.

    Rise of the Resistance
    Space Mountain
    Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
    Indiana Jones
    Matterhorn
    Splash Mountain (sad that it closing in May)
    Star Tours
    Enchanted Tiki Room is not a ride but its a must for me
    Then watching fireworks and Fantasmic to wrap my Disney day 🤗🤗
    My goal for my next trip to ride Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway railway

    Radiator Springs Racers
    Soarin
    Guardians of the galaxy mission breakout
    Incredicoaster
    Goofy’s Skyschool
    Mator’s Junkyard Jamboree
    Disney Animation (not a ride I know but love visiting there)

    I can definitely get behind the choices here. I will say for Radiator Springs Racers, you most definitely want that Lightning Lane, as the wait is almost NEVER under an hour. I'd also recommend the majority of the Fantasyland Dark Rides, as their lines can get short on good days. I've had days when I can walk-on the Fantasyland Dark Rides if I'm really lucky.

    • @SoCalDisneyDad
      @SoCalDisneyDad  Год назад

      For sure! Most of the Fantasyland dark rides never go above 20 minute waits (with the exception of Peter Pan which is on my skip list for that very reason). Pinocchio, Mr. Toad, Snow White... they're all fantastic options.
      With RSR, my family hopped in line once when it said 45 minutes. It took us 75. That was not fun. Usually Disney is better with its estimates, but Lightning Lane is a HUGE priority with that attraction since it's an ILL instead of regular Genie+

      I can see something like Ariel's being an attraction a teen or young adult might not enjoy as much as some of the thrills, but both Ariel's and small world are good for one thing: they are usually manageable waits during the middle of the day when everything else has long lines. So they're still worthy of consideration, but from your stand point I definitely can see them being a "if nothing else is available" sort of situation.
      I hope you have an absolutely magical trip and that you enjoy the planning phase as much as we do!

    Hi, we are going to stay at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel this summer and I have two questions regarding the security.
    1. I know there’s a separate security check point for DCA at the hotel. What is the best way to get to Disneyland Park, then? Is there another shorter security check point for people staying at the hotel?
    2. Also, I’m thinking of using clear pouches for different items to pack my park bag. When you go thru the security, do you need to take out all the pouches from the bag?
    Btw, congratulations on 10k! 🎉 Your videos have been super helpful to organize our trip! Thank you tons in advance!

    • @SoCalDisneyDad
      @SoCalDisneyDad  Год назад +1

      There is a security checkpoint at the exit to the GCH into Downtown Disney. It hardly ever has anyone at it.
      And once you are in DCA, if you hop from there to Disneyland, you’re fine because you’re already through security.
      But you won’t have to wait through the security with parking garage guests or anything. Downtown Disney is a secured zone and there are about half a dozen security points that most everyone else will use. Only GCH guests will use yours.
      They won’t ask you to remove things from pouches, they’ll just want to have a look in your bag and bottom of your stroller if you have one.
      They’ll also look inside zippered interior sections of bags, but if your pouches are clear, you’ll be perfectly fine.

      To add to what Trevor said, you can turn right to get to Disneyland’s gates and proper entrance. If you are new to Disneyland, I recommend you do this for your first day and rope drop mornings.
      OR you could turn left and take a short walk to the Monorail station in Downtown Disney. It will take you straight into Disneyland park to the Tomorrowland Station. You will need your valid park ticket and reservation to ride this Momorail. The line is generally much shorter at the Monorail entrance than at the front gate 🚝. You’ll get views of Fantasyland and Tomorrowland during your ride 💙

    Thank you for this video! I did have a few questions about Rise of the Resistance - do the individual lighting lanes sell out frequently? Sometimes even before the park opens to those who have early entry? Does the lighting lane line miss any cool in-line things? We are going this October when it will probably be pretty crowded.

    • @SoCalDisneyDad
      @SoCalDisneyDad  Год назад +1

      Yes, it does sell out. Probably not before the park even opens. If you tried to buy on right now (8 AM, park opening), there’s times available for 9:20 AM.
      BUT, I did try to buy one on Sunday, March 19th at around 9:30 AM and they were all gone already. So definitely purchase early.
      The lightning lane does skip most of the queue. They have some Resistance flight jackets and helmets hanging up, blasters, thermal detonators and some other stuff on display in the queue. But all the really cool stuff happens right after the meet up point where the two lines merge.
      October is a bit busier. It’s Halloween month which draws crowds. It’s still pretty hot (90s). And a lot of Fall Breaks take place during that time. I know Utah (where my wife grew up) has a major event in October called UEA. It stands for Utah Education Association, but everyone always calls it Utah Escapes to Anaheim.
      Even so, October is a great time to come and I’m sure you’ll have a blast.

    • @SoCalDisneyDad
      @SoCalDisneyDad  8 месяцев назад

      You speak to the cast member at the front of the ride line and tell them you need to do rider switch. They'll scan the ticket of the person sitting out and one other guest who can ride with the person sitting out. Then they get to go through the lightning lane when it's their turn.
      This is how it would look for a party of 4 where the youngest is too short to ride:
      Adult 1 and Child 1 will ride while Adult 2 and Child 2 sit out. The cast member will scan the tickets of Adult 2 and Child 1 to give them a rider switch pass when you first approach the line.
      At this point, Adult 1 and Child 1 proceed onto the ride, while Adult 2 and Child 2 go find somewhere to wait, be it riding another ride, getting some food, or just waiting on a park bench.
      When the first group is done riding, Adult 1 will sit out with Child 2 while Child 1 rides AGAIN with Adult 2. This way Adult 2 has some company while they ride.
      If you only have a party of 3, ie it's just two adults and a child, then both adults ride alone. If you have a party of 5 or more, only 1 person may ride again with the adult that sat out and you'll need to make the decision on who that is.
