To be totally honest with you GP, your RUclips videos are NOW the first thing I watch at the end of the day....instead of the news. Because you make me feel good about the world. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You have released me from the weight of the world. Bless you. ❤🐝
Love banana pudding.I have to make it every holiday for my family.I’m 75 years old and have been fighting the shingles virus for aver six months now and I still have severe nerve pain .Nothing will help,so you have been a blessing to me to be able to watch your videos.
Grandma Pat, I want to THANK YOU. I have depression and I'm going through a hard time but listening to you is like having my beloved late Grandma here with me. You even sound JUST like her. I actually fall asleep to your videos. I don't even have to watch, just close my eyes and listen. God bless you. You are like a warm comforting wubbie blanket. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
This was such a sweet comment. I understand fully, I have insomnia...and tonight is one of those nights...well it's 3:43 a.m. Her voice is so soothing. God bless her💗💗💗💗
Kristin, sometimes God sends people in your life to help you get thru hard times & depression. You call her Grandma Pat, that's good. Watch her everyday. She's sweet & upbeat. Pray everyday. You will get thru this hard time. We're all pulling for you! 💝
Dear Granny Pat, I hope this comment finds you well. I've been an avid viewer of your videos, and they evoke fond memories of the silver-haired ladies from my childhood visits to my grandfather's family in Kentucky. Your videos have become a cherished refuge, offering a connection to both your individuality and the memories of my youth that have nearly faded away. I just finished watching your jewel tea video and seeing that leaf-patterned bowl brought me back to my great aunt Fern's curio cabinet in nineteen-ninety-something. On a culinary note, although I've yet to master the art of Southern-style fried chicken, I have a recipe with a Midwestern twist that hails from Iowa: 1. Clean the desired chicken pieces in a brine solution, then rinse thoroughly. 2. Pat the chicken dry and season with salt, a touch of onion powder, and white pepper. 3. Coat the seasoned chicken in flour. 4. Heat oil (traditionally lard is used, but I don't eat pork) in a pot to approximately medium-high heat. 5. Fry the chicken for about 8 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown. 6. Place the browned chicken in a lidded casserole dish. 7. Top each piece with a pat of butter, ensuring they're not crowded. 8. Bake at 400 degrees for an hour. This technique, passed down among the church ladies of Iowa, infuses the kitchen with the comforting aroma reminiscent of Midwest bingo night church functions. Feel free to customize the seasoning. I recommend serving it with creamy mashed potatoes, glazed carrots, and the classic chicken gravy often referred to as white gravy (which I think down south, white gravy is milk gravy, but not too sure.) I believe it's an approchable and worthwhile recipe. I'd love to hear your thoughts if you decide to give it a try.
The fact of the matter, Granny Pat, is that if you had a TV show it would be a hit. You represent everything that needs to be brought back to mainstream TV. Wholesome content, keeping history alive, people enjoying each other’s company. I’m 41 years old and have always joked with my parents since I was in my early 20s that I was supposed to be their sibling, not their child. I’ve always felt I was born in the wrong era. You feel like home ❤
And the only thing I would change about this video is if I was there to cook and enjoy this chicken with you. I couldn’t think of a better visit to have 🤗
Just got home and put my feet up just so I could fully enjoy watching you! My mother used to make fried chicken frequently, I remember watching her cut the chicken up, she used an electric frying pan it was her favorite kitchen appliance hahaha. It even went on trips with us!! Anyway, my dad and I would always fight over the chicken liver, I dont think it ever made it to the table. Cold fried chicken and potato salad was a staple for picnics, very, very good memories❤Love to you Pat and a big hug too!
I don’t remember a picnic as a kid where we didn’t have my grandma’s fried chicken! You look like my grandma and your humor is like hers too. This was my first time watching you. But, it won’t be the last! 👍 ❤
Pat, you put 2 pieces of chicken directly in the batter and forgot to dip in buttermilk, maybe that's why they were losing their crust...I'm sure they are all delicious!
I watched the whole 40 minutes. What a blessing your channel is to me. I enjoy each video. Your mama would be proud of you. Your chicken looked scrumptious. I can't wait for your next video. You are a treasure. God bless you.
Oh Pat, this brought back good memories of my mom frying chicken. She'd fry up a chicken once a week. We knew there'd always be mashed potatoes, milk gravy (made from those chicken drippings), corn and whatever else suited her. She didn't always have buttermilk and we lived way out in the country, so you couldn't run to the grocery store very easily. But even without the buttermilk, it turned out delicious. Thanks for this video, Pat. Now I'm craving chicken!
I can relate to so many of your stories. I was born about 30 miles from Paducah. My mama used to sharpen her knives on the bottom of a crock when she was in a hurry. They always had fresh chicken and boy did those feathers stink when they would pluck them shooooo Weeeeeee 😊. Love your you tubes. Makes me smile.
I think your chicken will be perfect! My grandmother's chicken was delicious. She cooked in an iron skillet too. She would stack her chicken in the skillet & rotate it every few minutes. Every piece was crispy & golden brown. I love watching you cook. I think You are a good cook. Give yourself some credit. You put yourself down too much! You are a pretty lady inside & outside. Your sweet spirit shines through. I could listen to you & watch your videos all day long. Would love to see more of Jan in your videos. Would also love to see her antique shop. I love your jadite & All of your beautiful collections. You can always add more shortening after it has started cooking. I Love, Love, Love the Ice Man & Ice Chips story. It is a precious memory. Biscuits from scratch is one of the easiest things to make. I'm sure you could do it with a recipe. Maybe I'll send you mine. ;) I enjoyed watching you roll your hair. I used to do that. I cut my own hair because I have Never liked the way they do it at a shop. Just think of the money we have saved. !!!! My Grandmother never put on lid on the pan when frying chicken. It steams it & makes the crust fall off. The crust in the grease will make some delicious gravy! I had No doubt that your chicken would be very good. I sat through the whole 41.55 minute video and would have watched a lot more. You are a very humble lady. But sometimes I think you are too critical of yourself!
Thank you so much for sharing your Mama’s recipe with us. You did a very good job video taping it. Love your conversation and your stories. You made my day!
Oh and here’s my most sincere complement about today’s video: You must be some really charming lady, when you have a vegetarian like me, uninterested in the recipe but happily watching the entire video, just to enjoy your (virtual) company. If that ain’t proof of your charm, I don’t know what is! ❤
Hello Granny Pat, when I was first married and fried chicken I couldn’t get it done. It wasn’t done next to the bone. My husband still laughs about it. I enjoy watching you so much. I’m catching up on all your videos that I have missed. You make me feel good watching you and listening to your stories. You are definitely a Queen. You are elegant and pretty. ❤️
Hello Granny Pat! I just now found your channel. I loved your green collection of canisters and other items. It is true that those are expensive pieces and you have a nice collection. I'm impressed that you do your own RUclips videos and wish my mom could do it too. She is an artist and a good cook. She is 85. What treasures women of your generation are. Looking forward to watching more of your videos. God Bless.
The fried chicken looked delicious, my own Grandma taught us, good old Crisco, black skillet, put the top on…your video was wonderful, down to earth, and made me feel like I was in the kitchen with my own Granny. Thank you so much Grandma Pat. 😘😘❤️
I could smell the chicken while you were cooking. Great job. Cutting it up in manageable pieces makes it easier. Thank you for this video. There nothing like a dame.❤
I acquired a 4” deep chicken fryer cast iron skillet. I have never used for anything but fried chicken. Only rinse out with hot water. If I have too many pieces, I start the rest in an electric skillet I got for wedding shower in 1972. As I remove pieces from cast iron, I move some from the electric skillet. Makes the crust darker. My recipe is similar to yours. Salt water soak then in buttermilk with s little cayenne pepper almost an hour. Don’t drain much so the buttermilk and flour makes a good ‘shaggy coating’. Haven’t felt much like cooking since December, but this makes me crave it. Making in the week!
Hi Granny Pat! You brought back so many fond memories for me. My Mom has been gone for 10 years. But when I was a growing up she made Fried Chicken every Sunday night for Supper. My Granny made fried chicken for every picnic we had. We always broke the wishbone. That was so much fun. Your chicken looks absolutely delicious. I might have to make some now. I'm going to use your method. I can't wait to taste it. Thank you for sharing your wonderful video. You are the best! I look forward to your videos. It's almost like you are here with me. One of my favorite things, like all your fans, is watching you cook. I went back through your videos and watched the one when you were sitting on the porch swing with you, your Sister, and Jan. I loved the stories about your childhood. You have such a beautiful family. Have a wonderful day. You sure make my day better. Love you! From Shirley Duffy in Hanover PA.
@@joansmith9658 Hi Joan. So nice to meet you. We are definitely neighbors. Your town has the best craft shows. And I think you have Wilbur Chocolates. Yes Granny Pat is the best. You hit the nail on the head again Grandma Pat! Thank you for sharing these videos, I’m so glad i came across your videos, I wish I could sit down and share a meal with you, I promise I’m not bad company! Love from Maureen in NY! ❤
I very much enjoyed the time you told us about your job before you got to travel with your boss and meet interesting people. I enjoy that very much listening to you and I was kind of envious all the countries envious what is that word I want to use the one that says I was happy you got to go all those paces but I wouldn’t want to take your place. I’ve been to want to take away from you. I live in Terre Haute Indiana 60 mileswest of Indianapolis and 83 years old I was born on Valentine’s Day. That’s why I’m so sweet Granny Pat I love listening to you. Thank you. Bless you, sweetheart.
Oh, Granny Pat, you’ve made my day! My mom never fried chicken so I never learned. I am so thankful you just showed all of us how your mama made it and I can’t wait to try her recipe myself❤
I love your videos. Your voice and body language are so close to hers. She's been gone 9 years, and I miss her. You are younger. Dear Lady, God bless you. I so look forward to your videos, kept doing them.
I love your story about the iceman! My Grandpop, Uncle, Great Grandpop and others were coal miners. My moms family was very poor when growing up. She once told us that they would pull chunks of black tar off of the telephone pole that was on the street in front of their house and that was their chewing gum! I would much rather lick a piece of ice than chew black tar. 😊 I loved watching you fry chicken and I’m planning on trying your recipe. Your kitchen display is so pretty.
@@RAINBOJO1 The tar would be in a blob shape and hard and she and her siblings would tear it off of the pole, it was chewy but tasted awful. I can’t imagine it was very healthy to do either. That’s desperation!
Hi Granny Pat! It’s so nice hearing your stories. While cooking some good home cooking. It truly takes us back to those day’s when thing’s were a simpler time. And must have been great growing up like that. I grew up in the 80’s/90’s & early 2000’s. And we never owned a computer. Thing’s were much different even then! We had the big old tv the wooden ones that sat on the floor. I loved that TV. Thx for sharing the secret to good fried chicken! Salt water! ❤❤❤
I’m late to the party, but I’m so glad to have found you. This is only my 3rd video of yours and I look forward happily to watching all of them. Love~Granny
Thank you for this wonderful video. Just found you and catching up. Reminds me of my momma and grandma so much and I need some of their fried chicken. I'm disabled and have a lot of health issues but going to try and get helpers and see if we can make this happen. Keep it up. It is wonderful, comforting and relaxing to listen and watch you. Things you say and do are so relatable or things haven't thought about :)
I love fried chicken Granny Pat 😻😻 mashed potatoes and baked beans and Cole slaw. Then a good old apple pie with a scoop of ice cream. Don't forget the sweet tea! Yummm
Fried chicken and potato salad....picnic time.❤ Thank you GP. This was a fun video. And frying chicken is a PITA...and a very messy clean-up. So thank you for all of your work to shows us. ❤🐝
Dear, I may not be alone, I could smell that fried chicken 😊 Your doing fabulously, your Jadeite collection is amazing and reminds me of childhood! Now here’s the request, how about that wonderful cameo ring? I haven’t seen suck a thing in decades, is there a sweet story from that, that you could share? ❤️Love you and God Bless you sweet Lady! You mean so much to so many, we all love you and respect you dearly❤️
You made my day!!!!!!!!!! I quit making fried chicken a long time ago cause it was so messy. But you made my mouth water for the real thing.!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I guess I will be trying it soon !!!!!!!!!! Thank you . And you are a lovely lady.!!!!!!!!!!!!! From Kansas City, Missouri
Thank you Granny Pat for all the thought and care you put into your videos. The wisdom and life experience you share are a genuine blessing for all of us to enjoy. 😊
Yummy! I am so hungry now I need to find something to eat. Thank you for sharing a video on how to fry chicken. I’ve always been nervous to try it, but now I have a better idea on how long to cook the chicken.
Oh my goodness!! That is such an amazing set of cookware, etc. I just love that green color! You’ve got quite the collection there. Someone who recognizes the value in those will surely use and love them for many decades to come. Hope the set stays where it is for a good while still! ;). It’s truly something and I wish I could buy every piece!!!
This brought back sweet memories. My mom has been gone over 30 years. She fried enough chicken every Sunday so that all us kids and our families could come over and eat Sunday dinner with her and daddy. She always had a spread. She was quite a cook. She would get up at 4 o’clock in the mornings and make homemade biscuits with bacon egg and cheese, some with ham and always had a chest full for my brothers to bring to the plant and the men would pay $1 for them. It was a labor of love for sure. Your chicken looked delicious. I could almost taste it. I sure wish you lived closer to me. I would love to pick you up and go looking for trinkets and good bargains.
Love watching you cook and talk. Watch you when I am putzing around at home. You give me the pep to do stuff around my house. Like having my Great Aunt with me again. ❤❤❤❤
Granny Pat, you made me want to attempt frying chicken! I sure wish I were there to enjoy it! You are so sweet to grant that viewer's wish to fry some chicken! You take care from Southern California!
I watched the whole 40 minutes. Was fun. You make me smile. I can’t fry chicken to save my life. Also I tried the double dip in butter milk and the crust does fall off. Mom was the best fried chicken maker ever. We all begged her to make it even as adults. That and her apple pie. We always had potato salad with cold chicken when we went to the beach for the day. For dinner we had her home made mashed potatoes and her gravy. Yum!! My mom also collected all the green stuff you have. She didn’t have the canisters though. So pretty. We actually used all of it. We lost mom and everyone wanted all her antique kitchen things.
Fried chicken like my mom made it too. Cover it and yummy. Makes good gravy! Watching you in bed until I get sleepy. Thank you Pat. Nightie night from Vegas
yes… its me, yet again, lol. i used to love America’s got talent, but my hubby and i noticed that it was rarely “Americans” on the show, so we finally gave up watching it.
I really enjoyed watching you fry chicken. I had to chuckle because several pieces weren't put in the buttermilk, first. No matter, it was still comforting to watch and listen to you❣️😊
I double checked. They went in flour first and then b’milk. Two didn’t get ‘b’milk. No matter! Checking up on me huh? You had better start making a list……ooooh!
Yes granny Pat, watched your whole fried chicken video. I only wish it was longer. I hope you thoroughly enjoyed eating it! made me want to make some for tomorrow’s supper. Thank you for the inspiration. Sending hugs your way. 🤗🤗🤗 And you take care! 🙏🏼 Love you granny Pat. ❤️
Yummy! I’ll have to try your recipe. I like the fact that you are just you, no makeup and rollers in your hair. You’re real. Thank you for your videos, kiddo! ❤
I just found your channel the other day and I’m hooked! I find your videos fascinating 😊 I’m in Scotland and I can’t buy half the brands of things you cook with but I love watching you none the less. I never really was taught to cook by anyone in my family but I can imagine now that I’m being taught by Granny Pat ❤
First time commenting. I found you about a week ago. I love watching you cook, or share a memory w/us, or show us your special things. It’s so comforting to listen to you, Granny Pat. Your chicken looks so good! I watched how you made potato salad too. I appreciate you sharing how to crack the shell, to make it easy to remove. I’ll be doing that from now on! Watching from Northern Ireland, such a lovely lady, you are an inspiration only just found you and have liked and subscribed blessings from a supposedly summer's day though I'm sure you already know it rains here for the most part of the year. Fifty shades of green doesn't cover it! Thank you for the tutorial. I've never fried chicken ever. I shall give it a go!
I promise you, and I don't lie (typically, unless it benefits me) when you said close your eyes I did. Then I rewind (rewinded, rewainded however you write that) to make sure you said that and you did, so I closed them again. Also, promise, right before you said "looks pretty good" I thought "hope it turns out well". Let's see I'll keep watching and hoping it went well. I'll stick to one mesg now sorry I know you have many to read. So, now I'll just say, thank you. You bring more light to this beautiful world.

White gravy is definitely milk gravy…and the best. The best for mashed potatoes.

Hi Shirley, I am from Yoe, Pa. in York county but now live in Lititz, Pa., Lancaster county. I love watching Granny Pat.

@@carolewilliams2232 I can tell a sweet person by the way they talk. You passed the test!
Oh, Granny Pat, you’ve made my day! My mom never fried chicken so I never learned. I am so thankful you just showed all of us how your mama made it and I can’t wait to try her recipe myself❤
My Mom didn't like to cook but her fried chicken was good. Her burgers were not.
I love your videos. Your voice and body language are so close to hers. She's been gone 9 years, and I miss her. You are younger. Dear Lady, God bless you. I so look forward to your videos, kept doing them.
Granny Pat I absolutely love that you showed us how you roll your hair! I'm going to try this fried chicken recipe! Thanks for sharing! 🥰❣🌷
I love you granny
Hard to beat a skillet of good ol’ fried chicken. Love your jadeite collection. Very nice
Black tar for chewing gum? I have never heard of that.
Salt water! ❤❤❤
Grant Pat please finish the story about your Mama buying the refrigerator! Oh and thanks for the tips for great fried chicken!❤
Love you Granny Pat....Catherine from Toronto.
Granny Pats fried chicken 🍗. What a way to end my day ❤
I’m late to the party, but I’m so glad to have found you. This is only my 3rd video of yours and I look forward happily to watching all of them. Love~Granny
You had better get comfy - there’s more than 190 videos.
I love the sound of frying the chicken! Your a great cook GP
I love fried chicken Granny Pat 😻😻 mashed potatoes and baked beans and Cole slaw. Then a good old apple pie with a scoop of ice cream. Don't forget the sweet tea! Yummm
Fried chicken and potato salad....picnic time.❤
Thank you GP. This was a fun video. And frying chicken is a PITA...and a very messy clean-up. So thank you for all of your work to shows us. ❤🐝
Dear, I may not be alone, I could smell that fried chicken 😊
Your doing fabulously, your Jadeite collection is amazing and reminds me of childhood! Now here’s the request, how about that wonderful cameo ring? I haven’t seen suck a thing in decades, is there a sweet story from that, that you could share? ❤️Love you and God Bless you sweet Lady! You mean so much to so many, we all love you and respect you dearly❤️
Thank you and since you asked, I will mention my cameo ring one day!
@@chitchatwithgrannypat7900Thank you ❤ That’s going to be amazing to many folks!
Actually, there’s no need to double-dip on the buttermilk and flour. Especially if you are frying ‘boneless’ chicken.
I love watching your vidoes, keep up the good work. 💚 from Melbourne Australia
You are a pleasure to watch and listen to!! Thank you for sharing!!
Thank you Granny Pat for all the thought and care you put into your videos. The wisdom and life experience you share are a genuine blessing for all of us to enjoy. 😊
Granny Pat, you are beautiful; soul, food, personality, and all.
I have one grandma, and if I could choose, I'd love it if you were my other grandma.
Love this! I might try with this recipe 😊 love from Finland
Jan has claim on my Jadeite and Fiesta Ware. Everything else is up for grabs.
Watch you when I am
putzing around at home. You give me the pep to do stuff around my house. Like having my Great Aunt with me again. ❤❤❤❤
You fry chicken like my mom. You made me smile!
I really enjoyed watching your cooking. I see some of your cooking. Look good. Hope you continue cook. Thanks!
Try adding some corn starch to flour about 1 tablespoon per cup of flour works for me goodluck!
39:42 i could listen to that all day
Cooking chicken right now and using your recipe Granny Pat ❤❤
Fried chicken like my mom made it too. Cover it and yummy. Makes good gravy! Watching you in bed until I get sleepy. Thank you Pat.
Nightie night from Vegas
You’re a hoot grannie Pat, I love it! You are a queen, queen of utube!
yes… its me, yet again, lol. i used to love America’s got talent, but my hubby and i noticed that it was rarely “Americans” on the show, so we finally gave up watching it.
Living with my grandmother in 1986, after high school, she slow fried covered chicken on stove for forty five minutes, was better than KFC
Love you granny Pat. ❤️
Yummy! I’ll have to try your recipe. I like the fact that you are just you, no makeup and rollers in your hair. You’re real. Thank you for your videos, kiddo! ❤

Great 40 minutes of my time. I haven’t fried chicken in years either, but after watching you I’m going to have to fry me some!😅❤
Watching from Northern Ireland, such a lovely lady, you are an inspiration only just found you and have liked and subscribed blessings from a supposedly summer's day though I'm sure you already know it rains here for the most part of the year.
Thank you Granny Pat for humoring us with you cooking. 😂😂😂, I love seeing you and hearing what your mama use to do. Looking forward to next time🤩. God bless you and your family. Oh gosh and enjoy that yummy chicken😋… Love from Borrego Springs ❤️🙏❤️
Pat, you taught me how to fry chicken. I am going to try your recipes someday. You are a wonderful person. God bless you for doing your channel. It takes away a lot of boring hours from me. I hope you have a great evening. Take care..
