Oh Granny Pat!! This was you at your best. Your stories get better and better. Great story with such warmth and visual interest. I could see you in the bed with the train lights shining on you:) And I can only imagine the 2 am whistle blowing. You look gorgeous tonight❤
You brought up a memory so wonderful. We used to go to a small town and into the woods walnut hunting. Mom and dad cooked coffee on a small fire while we kids picked three paper bags of nuts. We went every fall and mom would use these nuts for fudge during the winter. A passenger train would go by and toot the horn. The passengers would wave. I told my cousin and she out right called me a liar. I took her to moms and asked her to tell our experiences when we'd go walnut hunting. When she was through my cousins jaw was on the floor. This was in the 50's. The cool air and smell of coffee, the nuts were like jewels to a kid we knew it would be in something yummy soon. The train made the whole day magical. Love your stories and you bring back so many sweet things of more innocent days.

My husbands stepfather was raised in a small town called Slate Run in PA. His mother lived their until she passed in her 90’s. The house was right next to a railroad track his father worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad I stayed their a couple of times during the summer when my husband fished for Trout. Like you said the train would go through in the early morning the first time the light shined like a beacon in the room the house shock I set straight up in bed and was scarred to death! Will never forget the whole incident. When his mother went on trips she would walk outside and the passenger train stopped pick her up. She went many different places on trains free because he worked for the PRR. Thank You Granny Pat for rattling our memories of simple times gone by. Think of all the men who laid the tracks manual labor, especially through the mountains. God Bless America🇺🇸
I love clotheslines and trains! Both are beautiful in their own way. Did you know they each tell their own story....just listen, and you will know what i mean.
Hi Pat. Thank you so much for telling your stories and talking about the trains. Trains are very special to me. I have lived in the same little coal camp in Idamay, WV for most of my 62 years. The train used to come in and back out of town twice a day when I was young. I used to get beyond excited. One time I was about a year old and my mom was holding me at the window to see the approaching train. I got so excited that I jumped forward into the window cracking the glass and I had to go to the clinic and get a couple of stitches in my lip. If I were at home, which I generally was, I never missed the daily arrival and departure of the trains. I would stand on our porch and wave to the engineer and conductor every time. One summer day, the engineer stopped the train on the track in front of our house and crossed the highway and then our street to come up on the porch to see me. I was probably 3 or 4 and had white blonde hair and blue eyes. It turned out he was being transferred to New Castle, PA and that would be the last time he would see me waving at him. He gave me a dollar for ice cream. One time a lady from a neighboring town asked my mother how she stood those noisy, dirty trains coming up and down the tracks twice a day. My mother's reply was it is much worse when you don't see or hear them because then you knew the miners were not working and times would be much harder. Love you and your stories.
Remembering our family riding the Southern Paciific Train from Tullahoma, Tennessee to Tucson, Arizona in 1959. We sold everything and moved for Daddy to work as a carpenter in warm weather. A trip for the ages. Love your spin on all your subjects. The best...

Thank you for such a great story! It was so fun and brought a smile to my face and heart. I wish I were there to have dinner with you and enjoy some more stories. Love you and have a great night
Good evening, oh how this brought back memories. We grew up a few streets from the train tracks too and loved watching it go by, often wondered where it was going. My grandfather helped build the railroad here, later a foreman so we could ride for free, oh such treasured memories❤. My dad passed ten years ago and just before he passed, he said listen for the train whistle and you’ll know I’m near. Every morning when I hear it go by and again at about 8:00 at night I know it’s my dad. Thank you for sharing such a wonderful story of your childhood. I also was glad I grew up by the tracks. Debby, New York
I saw that young woman in my minds eye. I saw Jan all mussed up despite the care you had taken to prepare her for that trip. YOU are SO RIGHT Pat. We do not realize the things we have and how different it used to be. Thank You Dear.

What a memory that comes. We lived on 622 North Crockett in a small town called Granbury Texas. This is about 120 feet from the main rail lines. In the summer our bedroom was only screened in and we could hear the rumble and the whistle coming and yes those huge headlights! All was fine until one night a dared my sister who’s older than me to go down to the tracks and watch the train pass by at about 11:00 PM We snuck outta the house and went down there to play a penny on the track in our pajamas! We thought we had it licked, on the walk back to the house there was momma and a flashlight with a plum switch! 😆 Even today I ask my older sister do you remember the rumble and shaking of those big freight trains. She says yes, put the switching was more to remember 😊 Thanks so much for what you do for all of us. I’m flying back to Texas to see mom and dad and my son, daughter and grandson. We all love ❤️ you!

Trains.....takes me back to my childhood in Sebree, Ky....we lived next to the train tracks, too. I thought all the box cars with the initials MKT on the side belonged to me since that was my initials....love quilts, too. Love your stories....and your glasses!
We lived between railroad tracks and a main road. I think sleeping through all of that noise is why I’m such a sound sleeper today. Love you Granny Pat!! ❤❤
What a wonderful story, I love trains. I’m fixin your chicken casserole Thursday for dinner as a preview to Christmas dinner. I know it will be delicious. Thank you so much for sharing so much of yourself. ❤
I love trains! I've been fortunate to have travelled on a few. And....when I was in my twenties and single, I lived in a very small house in a small town with the train tracks in my back yard! It was in the early 80's and the freight trains would travel through every night around midnight. It would make the house shake a little. And the light was bright that it seemed like it was coming though the house. It would have to sound it's horn at that point because it was coming into town. But I got used to it, and could sleep through it in no time. My sister and I took a trip to Switzerland when I was 15 (she was 20). My sister was working and could afford to pay for us both. I had 2 high school teachers that were married to each other. They liked traveling and would arrange a trip every year in spring for Easter break. It would be with a large group of people. There were a couple of side trips from Switzerland. The one to Milan, Italy was taken by train. That was the first train that I had ever been on! What a thrill! Then my husband and I took a color tour on a train in Canada. I wish they had more trains here to travel on. A more relaxed way of traveling. Loved your stories...

I grew up a block away from a railroad overpass. To this day there’s something comforting hearing a train whistle in the night. ❤ Thank you for your story😇
Your story brings back fond memories of my childhood. I was the the first of 4 children.....my folks rented an apartment from some people that lived at the end of Main Street....it was a small apartment the train track was one street over, and yes it would wake you up in the middle of the night. When my brother was born we had to move because we out grew the apartment. Those were the days I miss so much. Thanks for bringing the past back. Good times. So many gone that made life so wonderful ✨️

I loved the story about the cemetery & the railroad house& the auction. My father & his father & his brother all worked for the railroad. My dad’s dad was a switchman and his brother was accountant for the Erie Railroad for over fifty years & my dad was an electrician for the railroad at union station till he retired. So I no something about railroad. For my graduation from 8th grade my dad got passed for our family so we could travel by rail to Colorado for my graduation present . It was on a what they called a milk train lots of stops. It was a wonderful gift. Loved the story. Thank you.😊❤
Oh! Granny thank you for this one! I have always loved trains. The sound is so wonderful to hear! Wanted to have one but like you said just not enough room. My mother-in-law lives by the train and now so do I. I am so looking forward to taking a train ride and just to relax in the dinning car! Your stories are wonderful and they give me such a delight of laughter and the beauty of reminiscing. Sweet blessings to you and again thank you!
Another great video that brought back so many great memories! My grandparents lived next to railroad tracks too! When we visited them it was so much fun to run to the backyard when we heard it coming. We also had a Lionel train set that my father put around the Christmas tree every year. So many fun memories! Thank you!
Granny Pat, I enjoyed your story about your house and the train going by a couple times everyday. We lived three houses down from the railroad in our small town in Ohio. It was a special time in our lives as we were little children. The train whistle in the night was a mournful sound but we loved that sound. Those are great memories. Loved your outfit and glasses too. Love from Ohio and God Bless.carson

Good evening Granny Pat. I love your story. I can remember my grandmother lived in a house next to the railroad. When I would stay all night with her. The train would come thru late at night and it would shake the house. Just think if you had grew up in Texas instead of Corbin . We may not get all these good stories that most of us can relate to. Have a wonderful night.
Granny Pat, great stories. I'm not sure which one I liked the best. I think you bidding on the Victorian home against your future landlord! Sorry you lost your brother's precious daughter at such a young age. Merry Christmas. Grammy from Texas
Sounds like you live in my neck of the woods, our house sits on ledge and the tracks are close enough when the train goes by it shakes the whole house, been here for38 years and it still wakes me up in the middle of night. But 4 year old grandson Wally, when he comes to visit Loves it.We can watch it out our diningroom window. Thank you for sharing Granny Pat.I was talking to my laptop the whole time and answering you about living near tracks.lol Have blessed day Dear.
Your candles in the background and decorations make this even cozier! Love the way you tell stories, it's very calming. ☺️God bless and Merry Christmas!
I was just looking at a tiny house on the (redfin app)by the railroad tracks in Oshkosh- daydreaming how cozy and fun to live there…❤great story Thank you Pat!
Why it would be silly to think that those residing in the cemetery couldn’t take a night and go out on the town. We sure do have this death thing all wrong after all these years. Clean water and sanitation sure did add lots of years to our lifespans. You have a joyous Christmas, Pat.
Granny pat I love your story and I love the way you told it it will hold your attention and you are saying tell us more , of the past and adventure and the scary parts is what draws you in , thank for sharing, we would like to share your story the Time you met and married your husband and your first child .😊😊

Love the way you are always styling your glasses, wonderful trademark for your business, happy new year and blessings for the year ahead.
I have the cemetery of my small town right behind my place. There is a line of trees dividing the properties with some shrubbery that blocks the view though.
Hi, Granny Pat, I really enjoyed your story tonight. I had to laugh at how your sister got you to bid on the old house that was being auctioned. Was it one of your sister's that was at the Thanksgiving gathering this past Thanksgiving? It was fun hearing about the train headlights and whistle. When I was small, my grandmother lived about 3 blocks from a train track. I used to love to hear that whistle at night when my big sister and I would spend the night with my grandmother. It was a comforting sound to me because I was at my favorite place to be....at my grandmother's home.
The sister you refer to passed away in 2016 of leukemia. We lived near each other in TN FOR 19 years. We went everywhere together, even to England. Some thought we were twins.
My son was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when he was 5 (called juvenile diabetes back in the day). He is almost 23 now. It can be a hard disease to live with. Very sorry for the very early passing of your niece.

When my brother was born we had to move because we out grew the apartment. Those were the days I miss so much. Thanks for bringing the past back. Good times. So many gone that made life so wonderful ✨️
You’re a beautiful and sweet lady. We love you 🥰
Pat you look stunning in this outfit. The glasses, the earrings and that Parisian top. That top is my absolute favorite! Pink is your color. When you were talking about Bobby I was rolling. I don't know why. But it's the descriptive way you tell these stories. You are amazing. You have found your calling. Thank you for coming into my home. You are a blessing. Love you Bunches. Pat! I am so glad also that I did. The moment I saw one of your videos I decided that I wanted to meet you. There was something so special about you and your sincerity. Also, I love your sense of humor. You add so much happiness to my life. @@chitchatwithgrannypat7900
I made your Chicken Casserole tonight. It was great!!!!! Love your stories. ❤❤

Another great video that brought back so many great memories! My grandparents lived next to railroad tracks too! When we visited them it was so much fun to run to the backyard when we heard it coming. We also had a Lionel train set that my father put around the Christmas tree every year. So many fun memories! Thank you!
Love your stories. I got hooked on you as I recovered from surgery last fall. You helped get me through. Loved this one too!

I love your stories ❤! Thank you Granny Pat. I received my copy of your story/cook book today.. I’m so excited!
Thank you for your continued support.
That whistle would blow you out of your mind
Hello another great story ,, I had relatives that lived by railroad tracks ,,oo yeah it was scary ,it would wake me up at night ,my heart would pound , thinking the same thing , 😂

I enjoyed your story. You are a real good story teller. You make it so interesting!
When are you and your sisters going to get together again on video?. Your all hilarious together. 😂
We live too far apart. We need a driver.
Your candles in the background and decorations make this even cozier! Love the way you tell stories, it's very calming. ☺️God bless and Merry Christmas!

Lovely story Granny Pat
You are such a special lady😊
There isn’t much to tell. It isn’t a fairytale story.
Thank you Granny Pat! ❤
Keep up the great work, I enjoy your shows. I gave my friend one of your books with short stories because I figured she’d appreciate YOU! I haven’t heard if she read it yet . Love the way you are always styling your glasses, wonderful trademark for your business, happy new year and blessings for the year ahead.
I love your stories!!
I have the cemetery of my small town right behind my place. There is a line of trees dividing the properties with some shrubbery that blocks the view though.
You look SO pretty here Pat 😊
So sweet when your sis elbowed you to bid for cottage 😊
She could talk me into anything! Even decorating her house for Christmas while she worked crossword puzzles.
This is beautiful
My son was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when he was 5 (called juvenile diabetes back in the day). He is almost 23 now. It can be a hard disease to live with. Very sorry for the very early passing of your niece.
Yes, she was diagnosed at age eleven. Thank you.
