    What is this? The technical drawing shows inner width of 18,35 mm and you measured 19,1 mm. Am I missing something? The same with the width. At the widest and only spot that really can be measured it's supposed to be 28 mm.

    After watching this and looking at the ICan website, I decided to weigh my current wheels, older Easton/Velomax Orion/Ascent mismatched pair. The front came in at 697g and the rear at 867g for a total of 1564g. I then considered the weights of the Ican wheels and their price and I calculate it would cost me $4.25 per gram for the weight savings of 154g. Yet I saved more weight just by switching from butyl tubes to TPU tubes of 178g at a cost of $0.10 per gram. Tell me this would make sense. It just isn't enough of a savings for an average rider like myself to justify the cost.
    If you still use butyl tubes, and most of us do, save your money on these wheels and switch to RideNow TPU tubes instead. And remember, these are some of the least expensive carbon wheels. Most are twice the price.

      I ordered a Ican Gravel X frame, after 3 weeks a box turned up with a pair of Aero 40 wheels in it, the contact at Ican said they were second hand and a gift to me! I was concerned the frame would not arrive but a week later it arrived. The Aero 40's are on my Trek Emonda and are signficantly lighter than the Bontrager stock wheels.

    I've had a set of these for ~3 years, at least 30,000 km. Rim brake version. They are utterly bulletproof, still true. The brake track is still perfectly intact (but it is rather flat here). I weigh 90 kg (nearly 200 lb). That is an unfortunate stress on the wheels. I have an ICAN A10 frame too (an aero rim brake frame that they sadly don't make anymore). It is flawless. These days I alternate my rides on it with a newer Yoeleo R12, but for a couple of years it was my main bike. I also have some equally robust ICAN aero 50 dic brake wheels too (although at the moment I'm using my Elite Carbon 50D wheels on that bike, I like them too). As you say, the ICAN freehub is rather quiet. Perry, the person you will communicate with at ICAN, is very responsive. Also, they have warehouses in both US and EU. i suspect I have more experience than most with ICAN, and I would give them highest possible recommendation.

    I just got a new set of ICAN Aero 52 WD. rims, a new version with a wider profile (21 mm inner width, 30 mm outer). so far I like them even better than their regular Aero 50. A little heavier than Elite Carbon, but they have Sapim spokes 24 and 24. A bit more comfortable than Elite. Definitely a question of taste but I prefer metal spokes (and I am suicious of ceramic bearings on Elite).

    Rims are OK. R01 hub is very light but not so sure about the longevity. Did 15k with mine in all sorts of weather. Probably could use a tune up: light truing and bearings. Out of the saddle they are not the stiffest. For a crit or climbing i would always choose the Hypers.

    Woah you're so in depth, I like it! (that's what she said). Straight pull vs J bend, 2 cross/3 cross and steel bladed versus carbon, (was it a ceramic hub also? If you said I missed it) as it spun for ages 👌, thank you very interesting...... I'm sure 95% of riders just want to know the weight, does it look good, will it make them faster and price 😂
    I want to see if you can "tru" them even better 👌....... And what were your final thoughts? Worth the money?

    Really don’t understand Ican’s old school wheel philosophy here. Narrow interior width and optimal for 25mm tires means really high pressures, increased vibration losses from road imperfections, and less comfort. Even TDF riders are on 28mm these days. Roubaix riders were on 30s. Slap a 28mm tire on here and you lose all “aero” claims whatsoever. Definitely a pass for me

    I'm ignorant. Why does out-of-the-box wheel trueness matter, within (say) 1mm? Don't all wheels need to be trued regularly anyway? Same with spoke tension, within reason.

    • @valiantabello
      @valiantabello 10 месяцев назад

      Wheels do not need to be trued regularly, no way. If you need your wheels trued regularly you have a faulty wheelset

    I use to have the Ican Aero 50 back in 2020.
    And as a sprinter they are not stiff enough, the spokes kept loosening.
    At this time i was doing 1300W max power sprints.
    Today i'm more around 1500/1600W (thanks to gym workouts), i now ride the Winspace Hyper D45, they are super stiff and takes my sprints without any issues !
    So if you are a sprinter, crit racer or a pretty heavy rider i would not recommande the Ican wheels.
