It’s good to see the television industry is finally figuring out that they need to promote the things (like showing pitchers entrance music ) that helps bonding the fans to the game beyond the game itself. Well done!
SNY did an incredible job broadcasting this game from airing Degroms full warmup with Simple man playing in the background to not going to commercials and watching Edwin Diaz's full entrance in the 9th with all the trumpets XD and sure enough it was by far the most watched SNY mets game in their history
@@antsjohnson6617 being a Mets fan is weird, been one since 14’ because I’m only 15 and I’m not used to this talent and I’m not used to people jumping on a bandwagon
Heartbroken rn. Gonna miss degrom. Dude was fr the last piece of my childhood 2015 team. Been great growing up with him every 5th day. Best of luck in Arlington.
SNY and Mets Director John DeMarsico, keep it up!! The fading from black and white to color for Diaz, this moment right here and @0:48 when degrom was pitching and player was hugging child on the side, gave me AMAZING CHILLS!! Very bad ass moments. LFGM!!
From Mets and SNYtv's director John DeMarsico's twitter: Me: "Hey guys, I may sneak in a little Simple Man from the PA while deGrom warms up." Gary: "You want us to lay out, right?" Ron: "What else are we gonna do? Give stats?" This is how an instant all-time-great moment was born.
@@marc_prieto He could’ve had a statue and his name in the rafters if he stayed but he wanted to be out of the spotlight. Texas just doesn’t care about baseball like New York does
Dodger fan here. I gotta give SNY credit for showing this and Diaz's walkout. Love to see it. Took SNLA a bit of time, but they figured out that, yes, if we're going to see Kimbrel close, we should at least be treated to him walking out to "Let It Go". (Our closers are not the same. :( )
Ever since he was traded my mental state has deteriorated to the point where, whenever I hear simple man I think I am Jacob DeGrom and I’m about to pitch my first game in over a year and I’ve yet to be proven wrong.
I'll be a Phillies fan until the day I die but man, I'd be lying if I said that this man doesn't have my full respect and even small hints of adoration (but only when he's pitching against other teams aside from the Phillies and as long as it doesn't hurt the Phillies in the standings. I have to be VERY clear about that.)
Mets fans know what this means. Most baseball fans don't understand what this means. This means that the best pitcher in baseball is back on the mound. 13 months later and he's still carving up hitters in a way we have never seen before. And he barely missed a beat. At the time of writing, he has struck out 37 in 23.1 IP, he's allowed 6 runs (not good for him, elite for a normal Cy Young winner) 1 BB, an ERA+ of 177. And that's in his first 5 starts after not pitching in the Major Leagues in over a year. The rest of the league should be shitting them themselves.
With a rotation that could have potentially had Matt Harvey, Noah Syndergaard, Jacob deGrom, and Zack Wheeler, it’s only this “simple man” who’s simply the ace, that’s left.
SNY production values are pretty great. The cameras and production are like artful filmings of the games. And Cohen rules. Wherever there's an ESPN, Fox or (heaven help us) AppleTV booth, the downgrade feels like being dragged over broken glass. Because we're spoiled. Keith and Ronnie too. Far as I'm concerned it can be Gary for the next 25 years here.
It’s two-and-a-half months later, and the Mets’ season is over. I’m OK with that; after five mediocre-to-bad seasons, I was just happy they made the postseason. But I will be heartbroken-and the team will be worse off-if they don’t re-sign Jake.
@@HC_Playz Well, they’re going to be worse off, and I’m heartbroken. They should sign Rodón, but they’ll find a way to screw it up. Watch them give an even higher AAV to a 40-year-old with declining skills. Or maybe they’re buying what Senga is selling-namely, bad command and a fastball that plays below its velo. I hate this team so much.
The fact that SNY aired this and didn’t go to commercials as he was warming up was amazing.
They do that for diaz entrance sometimes too
Think about how many cool baseball moments we lose every single day because ad spam has run wild
@@BryceB21 Usually all the time, they know that the fans love to see it, what the fans want, the fans get.
They also didn’t cut away his first start in Washington
It’s good to see the television industry is finally figuring out that they need to promote the things (like showing pitchers entrance music ) that helps bonding the fans to the game beyond the game itself. Well done!
so much more is needed
When people see stuff like this it makes them want to come to the ballpark. I don’t know why more baseball broadcasts don’t do this.
none of the other networks do this kinda stuff, only SNY for the mets
"Trying to make baseball broadcasts more cinematic one cut at a time."
-SNY Director Joe DeMarsico
Gave me chills and what a performance, felt like a movie scene
Watching degrom is like watching a movie
Im so happy I was there to witness his first game back, but man him leaving has left such pain
Never expected this to be a sort of farewell to deGrom at Citi Field
SNY did an incredible job broadcasting this game from airing Degroms full warmup with Simple man playing in the background to not going to commercials and watching Edwin Diaz's full entrance in the 9th with all the trumpets XD and sure enough it was by far the most watched SNY mets game in their history
That last part is pretty crazy…….I think it’s do to all the bandwagoners coming out of the wood work

I’m 28 I’ve remember the 2000 World Series I remember beltran striking out on that 3-2 curve ball in 06
When the Mets are good all of a sudden there are a ton of fans
other than the 2015 world series games

He’s stupid for leaving
I was there. Crowd was wild from the second this song came on until the last pitch. Best ball game I ever attended.
Even as a Braves fan this gave me chills and a few tears.
First class
W real person who respects baseball
Michael kopech had this first
Im a Yankees fan to my core, I don’t like the Mets, but this was one of the best and coolest moments I have ever seen actually got me choked up
Agreed
Dude is literally a 99 overall MLB the show card in real life. He got me into watching baseball again.
Such an awesome moment! It’s almost like Skynyrd wrote that song for deGrom
Mark Fidrych video is better
Thank you deGrom. Whether you wanted to stay or not, Ill always appreciate how great you were on the mound.
He should’ve stayed
Even as a die hard Phillies fan, this is still really cool to watch.
Tonight we heard Jake is a Ranger now. This video makes me cry.
Amazing how such a simple moment and a simple song can give everyone chills
Gonna miss you 48
damn going tp miss this, looked forward to this moment
every week
Wish it was like 30 seconds longer to catch GKR's reaction... shit was so cool
Let's not forget what a great song this is. The lyrics are timeless.

Miss Jacob, one of my all time favorites
Thank you Jake. Had to come back one last time to watch this. Good luck in Texas. Stay healthy.

Can't wait to watch this in Texas
My favorite pitcher. Come back, Jacob!
Still get cold shivers down my spine
SNY is by far my favorite Sports broadcast channel; innovative and passionate with a crew that radiates chemistry.
So happy deGrom is back. Thank you for posting this.

Pat McAfee brought me here. As SF Giants fan this is amazing.

As a Braves fan this is badass
So damn sad he’s gone but this still gives me chills every time I see it
One Mets memory that will live with me forever
As a Red Sox fan this shit gives me chills 24 yrs old n degrom was the most dominant consistent pitcher I ever seen RETIRE 48 for life

I think this "Simple" moment in history (and video clip) will last the test of time.
The coolest sports/music moment in recorded history, topped only by Ray Charles singing America the Beautiful before Leonard/Duran 2
