    Exactly what I've been looking for, Jess! My first cat ever, Karma, was put to sleep a year ago at 19 years old. I also live in a one bedroom apt. I rescued him at 10 (undernourished), and got his weight back up, but never really paid much attention to his weight GAIN. HIs running around and playing behavior slowly decreased over the years as his weight increased,, obviously. I'll be rescuing another adult cat at some point, and really wanted to get as much credible info on good, healthy wet food alternatives, and treats. Your videos are a blessing!

    I’ve bought my kitty minnows, mussels and freeze dried quail yokes and she won’t eat any of them. I’ve tried hiding it in her food but then she won’t eat her food. Any ideas for my very picky princess? Thank you. I love your content.

    I found your channel today... I think your videos are amazing and I have already learned a lot about what is available for cats. Over my long lifetime I have owned 58 cats, but just got my first one after ten years of not having a cat at all.. When I lived in Spain all my cats got fresh whole fish from the fish market just hours after they had been caught. They were all very healthy. Now I live in Canada in a Condo so everything is different.... and no fresh fish market to go to.

    @kellsz7574 2 года назад +1

    Great, my cats too love both lamb green tripe and the Vital Cats minnows as treats, haven't tried the other minnows! Tried the plain mussels too, but they didn't like them, so far. For meals, try the Feline Natural wet pouches, also from New Zealand. Add a little water to the pouch and mix, they love those too, esp the chicken and lamb, and salmon and lamb. The freeze dried is good too, but they prefer the pouches. All great brands! Need to try the Tundra, sounds good for them too.
    Question, do you only feed protein or do a mix? Worried about constipation for them without any minor amt of carbs at least?

    • @jesscaticles
      @jesscaticles  2 года назад +1

      Glad your cats love these healthy treats! Carbs aren't part of the cat's natural diet so there is no need for them. Jericho eats a variety of proteins, whole prey, and whole food supplements so he gets natural fiber in his diet. Is it okay to put a few (say 3-4) crumbled up treats on the wet food per day? We have been using Vital Essentials Duck Liver & their Chicken giblets. They used to be softer where you could just crush them over the food. Now, they are producing them really hard, most are too difficult to crush with your fingers. Sometimes Sunny, who turned 1 year on 4-30--sticks up his nose at his food, so just by crumbling 3-4, sometimes just 2 on his food, he will eat all his food. I also heard that liver isn't probably the best treat, as when an animal dies, they have toxins that are in the liver. Don't know how true this is. Sunny is pretty much at the place where he only eats 1 to 1 1/4 6.5% can of the Ziwi Peak or Feline Natural canned per day. I don't know then if this is overboarding with the protein (crumbled healthy treats over the protein laden canned)? Thanks!!!!

    • @jesscaticles
      @jesscaticles  2 года назад

      The liver filters out toxins so yes if they are not raised properly the liver would have an accumulation of those toxins. Treats should not exceed 10% of the cat's overall daily intake.

    • @lindajardee
      @lindajardee 2 года назад

      @@jesscaticles Our Sunny is one year old as of 4-30. He has been eating 1 can (6.5oz) to 1 1/4 cans per day of Ziwi Peak & Feline Natural which all of their varieties have liver in the ingredients. Hoping THEIR liver is not accumulated with toxins. The treats he gets (not every day, but most) for a topper over his canned when he is being fussy are the Vital Essentials Duck Liver and Chicken Giblets. He only gets anywhere from 1-4 pieces (small pieces) most days. More like 2-3, but sometimes 4 pieces. I wouldn't even know if that is less, or more than 10% of his daily intake. Doubt 1-4 pieces would be 10% of his daily intake. Help & thanks. Trying to keep him healthy.
