My cat was vomiting a lot due to kidney disease. I took her to her vet who she had only seen for shots and low appetite. She did blood work gave her sub q fluids, an anti nausea shot. Two days later my cat is severely vomiting again and I noticed it was after giving her elura the appetite stimulant. She had me come back in and did two X-rays gave more fluids, another anti nausea shot and a shot to coat the stomach she did this 2 days in a row.My cat now wasn’t pooping for three days and she said don’t give her pumpkin or laxatone bring her back I need to do 2 more X-rays and see what she needs, she may need an endoscopy which is about 5 grand (which I don’t have). I said can we just try an enema for cats? Baby enemas are not for cats n toxic. She goes oh for sure I have cat safe ones it’s gonna need the X-ray n hospital stay so maybe about another 350 dollars, mind you I’m already 1 grand in bills with 3 visits for all this, I said I have no credit left on the card. She goes oh you don’t? Well give her laxatone then. Wtf? She had said no no don’t do that! But now it’s ok??? I got my cats record took her to the vet at the local pound they x-rayed n gave the enema for 95 total. Said give her pumpkin. My cat is eating fine and relaxing now almost back to normal. That vey did not ever call to ask how my cat was doing never wanted to give feedback and when she heard there was no money left she fell of the grid. We couldn’t reach her only her staff would say she’ll call and she never did. Be careful out there pet parents some vets are like the mechanic that wants you to keep coming back to drain your funds. Thank you for your kind heart and wealth of knowledge ❤

@jaxx9204 - I'm so sorry about the vet. I once experienced something similar with my dog. I did an X-ray but said I had to come back to do blood work in a few weeks because I didn't have the funds at the time. She literally turned me around by my shoulders and walked me to reception to check out. I was floored! Of course I never went back to that vet. However, for your kitty...I have had great success using a product call "Kidney Restore For Cats and Dogs". It's a bit pricey but it has been working for my kitty. She has been on it for 3 years and her blood work remains stable. I also use a phosphorus binder for her. Good Luck with your kitty. 💖

Mechanics yea for sure but better yet some of our human doctors, there's good and bad in all I know unfortunately. And it's hard when you're trying to do the best you can for a family member whether it be animal or human, scared to take the doctor's advice or maybe can't afford what there suggesting and also scared not too! Suck been there done that with human family members and animal family members and it's not pleasant at all weather money is a issue or not witch nowaday is usually is but still when it comes to a family member and like I said whether it be "human or animal" and your heart is hurting for them it just truly suck that's why it's so easy for doctors to take advantage because they know most of us would do anything when there's love involved😢 I keep saying I'm not getting any more animals because I get to attached but they keep finding me and trained me to be their caretaker. 😂 God Bless

The vet's recommendations for treating cats:
    1. Pepcid (a/k/a famotidine, for vomiting, dose is 2.5 mg. per 10 lbs. of cat's body weight)
    2. Polysporin For Eyes (a/k/a polymix and ramicide, for conjunctivitis, dose is 1 drop, 4x per day into each affected eye)
    3. Chlorpheniramine (a/k/a chlortripalon, for itching/allergies, 2 mgs., 2-3x per day)
    4. Chlorhexidine (for puncture wounds, mix with a little water then use a syringe to flush the area well)
    5. Topical Hydrocortisone cream 1% (for red areas of inflamed skin, squirt 1/4-inch on your finger and apply to cat 2x/day for 7-14 days)
    6. Benadryl (for allergies or as a mild sedative or for anti-anxiety, 1 mg per lb. of cat's body weight, 2-3x per day)
    7. Robaxin (The ONLY active ingredient must be Methocarbamol - the ONLY safe OTC pain relief for cats, 10 mgs. per lb. of cat's body weight, 2x per day)

@@gx8841 try low mercury tuna, tuna water, and tuna juice and chicken broth and bone broth (both with no onions no garlic), plain cooked chicken with no seasoning works good (it’s not nutritionally perfect and ideally would need taurine and other stuff but something is always better than nothing) and also try sardines and anchovies. Fancy feast makes a good one called fish and shrimp and you could add a few anchovies or sardines to the mix to get her to eat more and that would be better nutrient wise, plus the mixture of that particular can is low in fat so some added sardines in oil would help her not lose so much weight. Also try fancy feast baby food. It’s nutritionally dense to help kittens grow and all my cats really like it, I always feed it after surgery mixed with a bit of hot water to help hydration and to promote healing. There’s a box with all four kinds, try that one so you can rotate the choices to give her something new and tasty each time:)

What I find interesting is that vets are quick to treat our pets without asking us and charge us through the roof. This happened to me. Gave my cat an injection without telling me why, the prescribed my cat tablets then charged me 90 pounds. I found the tablets online for 6 pounds. And also if they loved our animals so much why don't they warn us about cat foods that poison our cats? Well... we all know the answer to that one.

What makes me frustrated and sad is realizing that both vets and pet adoption centers do not properly educate people on what to feed our new pets. Cats should never be put on dry food. Once they are, they are addicted to it and it contributes to their leading cause of death, chronic kidney disease. I have cats I am now trying to transform to only wet cat food and it’s been very difficult for them which is completely understandable. Imagine being fed fast food your entire life and then someone steps in and tells you that you now must eat salads.

I was charged $300 for my cat to just walk in the door... A total of $800 for an x-ray, .03 mg of pain meds, and the sedative they gave him. That's a mortgage payment and I think it's ridiculous that vets are allowed to charge such inflated prices. I wish they had urgent care for pets. A step down from an animal hospital to treat minor ailments and injuries. The states that a vet practices in should monitor their fees.

Dr. Jones, what a very special person you are and how glad we are to have found you. Our small 8 lb. Dachshund/Chihuahua mix had the cherry eye issue recently. We called around and the Vets could not see her for 3 weeks. One wanted up front money over the phone before we came in. So sad to see the greediness and ignorance in this field of animal care. Thankfully a friend told us to look up cherry eye, and we found your video. I suspected for awhile it might be the hard nuggets by ACANA that we were feeding her from time to time. She loves them, but I believe they are toxic to her now. We are looking into Farmers Dog Food as well as some Raw food companies. She is fed organic chicken, some lamb, and beef. We also give her Wellness or Solid Gold from the can. In her canned food we have been including Moringa, some enzymes, and flax oil. I have been using the Earth Animal Immune drops in her water. As soon as I quit feeding the ACANA nuggets her eye issue is gone. I did the eyewash for a few days and massaged the eye as you suggested and it works. We are so very grateful. She also had an itching problem which has lessened. I did make up the green tea, vinegar and Lavender drops as a s pray to keep her itching under control. She is so much more content, and we are so less fearful now. We are watching your videos to learn all we can to keep her healthy, safe and comfortable. We just love her so much. You are wonderful to animals and it shows. Thank you so much!

I went home asap, ordered dog stroller as he was just crawling. I started to prop him up and call to follow me. One, two steps slow like a baby. Finally after 3 months he’s walking like nothing happened, he runs fast too. Never used the stroller, still in the box. I went back to the vet and showed him my dog. It’s been 6 years since and my dog is doing ok.

Helpful tip. I use hemp oil for my elder cat. I use to slip some in a freshly opened can of food. However , he'd often detect the bitter taste, so no go. Then, I tried a raw egg with 99.9% results! I'd crack an egg into a bowl , whip it up well. Then , twice a day pour a modest amount on a flat dish and mix in hemp oil. The egg lasted roughly 3-4 days. A life saver. Cat has no loose stool from the egg or other. Eggs have excellent vitamins, minerals for cats or people. If concerned, buy organic eggs.

Murray cracks me up he really hates doing these videos lol and probably thinking I better get treats for this. I didn't know that cats can get Visine. I had a Labrador once that had skin allergies and the Dr said to give him Benadryl which helped and we also changed his food with Omegas in it and oatmeal bath for washing him.

    • @feedwinnie
      @feedwinnie 2 года назад +1

Dr. Andrew isn't using Visine in his video. He's using an antibiotic eye drop,it's not available here in the USA, it requires an rx. So does the robaxin/methacarbamol, only available by rx in the USA. ( please, never put Visine in your cat's eyes❤)

    • @Cattitude48

Yes, as Emily said, Miralax. One of ours does great on 1/8 teaspoon a day. Another needs 1/4 teaspoon one to two times a day depending on what he needs. We mix ours with a little water and put in a syringe to administer. That way we know they get the whole dose.
