- Another country with pretty awesome subnational flags is Brazil, and so I decided to make a video showcasing them and telling my opinion on their designs!

I can explain the coat of arms in Rio Grande do Sul's flag (Gaucho flag)
When of the ragamuffin revolution, the war that seceded us from the Brazilian Empire for about 10 years, the national flag was indeed just the tricolor with Artigas' bar (btw: Garibaldi commanded the only ship of our navy under this flag, after hauling it on wheels for 70 Kms, and somehow, captured the entire province up north with it, go figure)
The flag was, of course, prohibited when the province rejoined the empire in 1845.
When the Republic was declared in 1889, the province followed the natural steps, and slapped the old Republic coat of arms on the tricolor.
... Yeah it isn't the most creative decision ever, but at least it is a very recognizable flag overall

1:51 The colours of the flag o state of Amazonas:
- The twenty-five stars in the upper left corner represent the twenty-five municipalities of the state in 1897, the year that the Military Forces of Amazonas entered into the War of Canudos. The largest star, in the center, represents the capital, Manaus.
- The red represent the blood of the soldier that fought the War of Canudos and also represents overcoming difficulites.
- The blue and white are from the previous flag of the Amazonas province, baut also have other meanings. The two horizontal white bands represent hope, the dark blue of the quadratic drawing, the skies.

Great video, but I noticed that you are responding to comments from Brazilians in Spanish, and in Brazil they speak Portuguese
My mother tongue is Spanish, and since I can understand about 80 % of their Portuguese comments, I'm hoping they'll be able to understand at least half of my replies to them

I understand that you adhered to the principles of vexillology in an objective and somewhat strict manner while ranking the flags, but I have to disagree with you for placing Minas Gerais and Paraíba on the bottom tier. They are both historically rich and iconic designs and - in my opinion - deserved better.
The Flag of Paraiba should be reviewed as it's simple and pleasent to the eyes. It deserves a better ranking. Also, the Minas Gerais flag has a heavy historical meaning as the flag of the first movement for independence.
Idk but when I see the Paraiba flag I wanna close my eyes, it hurts to see. Also I have a stance that the historical value of a flag doesn't justify it being badly designed

Sería buena idea, pero muchas de ellas son meros escudos sobre sábanas blancas, lo cual me parece un desperdicio 8( Ahora, un análisis de sus escudos me parece algo interesante, ya que nunca lo he hecho con anterioridad :o

@@Nigu_Flags well ... libertas quae sera tamen ,is latin , come from the roman poet Virgil , means something like " freedom even if late" , the triangle is a symbol of the holy trinity , we are huge catholic fans over here :P ,the symbol was proposed by Joaquim José da Silva Xavier aka :"tiradentes" one of the members of the minas gerais " inconfidentes ", a group that wanted freedom from the Portuguese crown , he was arrested and hanged , long story short the flag has HUGE historical significance and people from minas gerais , like me, love it, besides it kinda looks like the Japanese flag , red circle in white , red triangle in white , you get it , so your argument is invalid S3

THE IDEA OF STATE FLAGS IS TO HAVE A FLAG THAT REPRESENTS YOUR STATE BY ITSELF AND WHAT QUALITIES OF IT YOU WANT TO PROJECT TO OTHER STATES, SO RELYING ON NATIONAL SYMBOLISM MEANS YOU DON'T HAVE ANYTHING YOU WANT TO STAND OUT FOR, AND IS KIND OF A BUMMER :(

Well I think Acre's flag looks better than French Guiana's. Acre's flag doesn't have the star straddling over both fields like French Guiana's flag does. I think that looks ugly on the French Guiana flag

Concordo com você. Além da carga de simbolismo, ela tbm tem um visual simples, sendo fácil de reproduzir em qualquer tamanho e de se identificar. Bate o olho num triângulo vermelho no meio de um trem branco é a bandeira de Minas.
