PUNK IN DRUBLIC DOCUMENTARY

  • Punk in Drublic was designed by NOFX front man Fat Mike. He paired craft beer and punk scene heavyweights NOFX, Bad Religion, Pennywise, Rancid, The Offspring, Descendents, Less Than Jake, and The Interrupters, to create an unparalleled live music experience. The documentary tells the story of the touring festival through its first three years. The film is built around exclusive interviews, backstage footage, and live performances. It also delves into the impact and repercussions of the controversial joke that threatened the festival’s existence.
A little word from the director Alfredo M. R. Vicente:
Punk Rock has always been about doing it yourself. The attitude of creating bands and the lifestyle they wanted, even if musical talent, by the hour, was not the first characteristic.
The precursor bands of the '70s influenced the beginning of many other bands of the same style, and they were born, passed through the '80s, without money, sometimes without an audience, without perspective, but the love for music was always there. Some bands survived and got to the '90s, and they created an independent way of showing how much they had evolved musically. Globalization made it possible, and they managed to reach almost every corner of the world. Many bands from the '90s created a huge impact on many different scenes around the globe. And here comes the internet, and now you know, access to information is within reach of the majority. And these same people who have gone through the entire process of movement from the beginning till now realized that, in fact, we do not need the intermediary. We make the music, the style, the clothes, the beers, organize our own festivals or even documentaries.
This documentary was possible by partnering with Punk Rock TV and Stage Dive Films. It was made with independent resources and a lot of passion for this music style, and it was an absolute dream for me to have the opportunity to follow my heroes and my favorite bands.
If you watched and liked and wanna help us to keep doing stuff like this, and a possible continuation of this Documentary, please access www.punkrocktv.com and subscribe or follow us on Instagram: @_punkrocktv."

Whoa! I was at the Ohio show June 1-3, when Rancid was playing Maxwell Murder end of the second night, I got the call that my mom died and scream cried while rancid played in the background.
Spent the night in an empty field away from camp crying hysterically and despite everything, random punks heard me crying and came and talked to me and gave me so much support. In fact that whole event it was nothing but punks helping each other out, making friends, having the best time. Not one single fight, nothing but good old punk rock love. I will absolutely never forget that fest, the amazing performers, the friends I made from that fest, and losing my mom.
I keep scanning the footage to see if I can see my friend Ruby who passed away since that show, or my other friends but I have so much of this show on my phone but the doco sounds so much better lol
This was such a mix of emotions watching this, I loved evert second.
Never been to another fest that was half as much fun. Even the smelly couch at the entrance LMAO still got picks with me and my friends being stupid on it. Man, just the best memories fucking ever.
Punk rock is the fucking everything.
Big love to all you beautiful bastards!! ❤️❤️❤️

A NOFX fan for their entire career minus the 1980s years. I was just to young at the time.
The only band I truly felt like a true fan for like the Deadheads did for Grateful Dead!
No regrets traveling all over the USA to see them anytime I could.
Many of my dearest memories included NOFX music, performances, and have indirectly became the soundtrack to my life.

NOFX brings me back to Grade 9 in '95-96.. Starting at a new highschool where I only knew 2 people.. Those 2 people had lots of friends and I befriended one of those guys who turned out to become my best friend even almost 30 years later but what brought us together was our love for Punk music, Nobody else in our group of friends was really into it but us and that common denominator was NOFX, by grade 10 we had bought every NOFX album we could get our hands on from our local Music store in Northern Ontario, Usually they had to order them for us lol Wasn't as easy back then as it is today to get your hands on certain music. Even listening to certain albums brings us back to certain times in our life, It's a nostalgic time machine that can bring you right back to some of the best times in life

In '95-96 I was older and attending the technical institute in Lisbon (Physics if you can believe it). It was much easier to buy the "Punk in Drublic" CD in Lisbon, than it was in Ontario in Canada, by what you explained. In Lisbon it was sold at every major music store.
Strangely, this band was never played at nightclubs in my country.
I danced to Sex Pistols and Bauhaus in Avant-Gard discotechs (We called them "Vanguarda") and danced to more popular bands like Offspring and Green Day in Rock discotechs (much more commercial club houses).
But NOFX was a late entry, a sort of Neo-Punk, that was never picked up or played in radios or clubs in Portugal.
I did buy the CD and had a bunch of friends who loved NOFX.

The premise in the film is that punk is "do your own thing, be yourself, do your own fashion...etc"
In Europe punk is: fight the fascist, fight the police, the government, the church, the exploatation, the racism, the nationalism...unite and win. And try to stay alive ❤

There is a reason why all these bands are still around decades later, this isn't a vehicle to fame for them, this is what they love doing.

It really bothers me that so many people say that this or that isn't punk. Wasn't punk created so we could do what we wanted. To not be a sheep and have to be a certain way to fit in. The 'real' punks are doing the exact opposite. You have to listen to these bands and dress this way or your a poser. Fuck that! Punk to me is a way of life. Be proud of who you are.
