Welcome to my channel! This is a music reaction channel. For the longest time, I've loved creating content on the internet. I started off with a gaming channel right here on RUclips, which eventually turned into a Twitch gaming channel, but as time has gone on I've evolved into doing other things on RUclips. For years now I've wanted to create a music channel on RUclips, and recently just figured "why not?", so it’s time to give this a go! Give me any suggestion you have for music reactions, and I will do my best to get around to them. As music has fallen further out of my life, I figured this would be a great time to get reintroduced to music.
If you enjoy this video and my reactions make sure you subscribe to the channel, like the video and comment down below which video you would like to see me react to next.

“Short People” was another very big hit for Randy in the 70’s and got massive airplay. Clever songwriter.

Some of his early songs, like "Red Necks", "Drop the Big One", and "Burn On Big River" are interesting.

Randy Newman has had a career I would call varied. He started out with "Short People" and "Rednecks" and the went to "I Love LA", and then he went to Disney and made music for many of the PIXAR animated projects. He has done very well for himself, and us.

First thing I remember he did was the soundtrack including Intro song (He Gives Us All His Love) for the feature film COLD TURKEY (1971).

Randy Newman also wrote the theme song for "Monk" starting with the second season or so, titled "It's a Jungle Out There". Love his gravelly voice and his sense of humor. Great pick. Blessings all.

"Losing You", by Randy Newman. One of the saddest songs you'll ever hear.

It seems to me that Randy Newman is sadly underappreciated on most of the reaction videos I have seen. Once in a while someone will play "Short People" or this one "I Love L.A.". Those are good songs, to be sure, but they are mere shadows of his more sophisticated and often poignant songs: "Wandering Boy", "She Chose Me", "I Think It's Going To Rain Today", "Sail Away", "Marie", "Louisiana 1927", "Feels Like Home", "Losing You", "I Will Go Sailing No More", "Our Town (as sung by James Taylor), "When She Loved Me (from Toy Story 2)...and so many more!!!

King of irony. Whatever he says he means the opposite. Short People is another good example.

I love this song. I lived in the 80s and the whole vibe was exactly like this, no lie. I had a blast living there. This was a huge song. Randy Newman does a lot of stuff, including 'You've Got a Friend in Me' from Toy Story. 'Short People' was very sarcastic & funny and a very big hit.

You may be too young to remember the series, but Randy wrote the theme song for the TV detective series, Monk. He has written more jingles and themes that I can name. 😊👍

Early Randy is brilliant. Any song off of his Good Old Boys album oozes wonderful satire.

Having grown up in LA, this song is a sentimental favorite. Besides being about my home town, I went to high school in the SFV with the players, Paitch, Lukather, and the great Jeff Porcaro and his brothers Mike and Steve, Toto. Life can be very strange.
The darker version would be Babylon Sisters by Steely Dan, another version of LA I also knew.

Good reaction to an atypical song by Randy Newman. You need to dig into his early work, "Political Science", "Sail Away" or anything on Good Ole Boys"
LP. Hit song by 3 Dog Night written by Randy, "Mama Told Me Not to Come " is a better sampling of Newman's style.

The main thing about Randy Newman songs is that there is always a twist. He loves to use irony and unreliable narrators. Or, he can be showing contempt for the narrators. Nothing is as it seems. Some of Randy’s sweetest sounding songs are also his most messed up. His movie songs are a different animal, but you have to dig deep for the irony on almost all of his album tracks. He is seldom the narrator. He likes to take on personas. For example, in this song, he is taking fun of the narrator for his adoration of LA and the reasons for not liking the other cities are almost nonsensical. It is anything but a love letter to LA, but that hasn’t stopped LA and the Lakers from claiming the song anyway.
