I wanted to suggest something far up the folk end since Dalriada didn't get through. Glad this one made it, fingers crossed for the other two picks (which are very different in style and neither from Nuclear Blast)! Korpiklaani are, it must be said, a little _too_ fond of the vodka, but that's Finnish winters for you. They are still very entertaining. We knew someone who used to spend half the year in UK when it was summery, and the other half in NZ for the same reason/season. Thanks!
ooooh summer come come :) Leningrad cowboys you should check out ( old finish band, who have also 3 movies make ). also check out finish new umk artist windows95man no rules song (come just today and it is funny ). korpilaani rulez. thanx to great reaction and have wonderful day.
9:38 yes we have great summer, as local joke goes; "Finnish summer, beautifull and low on snow...". In reality, winter is harshish down to -40'c on north, south part a bit warmer, just down to -25'c. Summer, long days short nights, northern part with midnight sun (from nordic circle to north), also this means that on winter there is no sun on mid day on northern parts. Last summer was hot one, up to +30'c on "worst days", but ofter around, so very cozy 18-22'c. That small building you asked if it was a sauna where persons come out topless, seems that it was a traditional wood burning sauna - as this song story seems to be around 1920-1930 ish (or earlier) and on rural area. And yes, song seems to be love story between maid and young farmhand fella.
Yes, a beautiful country, with treetops so tall, quite far from Cairo, and where Michael Palin got to be, as he wished. There's always a sauna somewhere: "Neil Hardwick, Michael Palin, ja Lasse Lehtinen saunassa (1989)". I recommend Lyricstranslate site for translations. People have taken time to translate quite a few songs, including this 'Suspenders Lad". About those traditional costumes and folk music tradition: "Seurasaari tanssii. Folk Dancing in Seurasaari", "Kaustislainen viulunsoitto - UNESCO-hakemusvideo / Kaustinen Fiddle Playing UNESCO nomination video" and "BBC Music Pekka Kuusisto’s hilarious Proms encore - My Darling Is Beautiful". On that light, summer and sauna: "Exposition Albert Edelfelt - Lumières de Finlande au Petit Palais à Paris (France)", "White Night Magic - FINLAND" and "Lotta Maija & Saunakonkeli ~ Saunalaulu (Official Music Video)". About that vodka: "Koskenkorva - Vodka from a Village". Also served on this state visit: "Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip in Finnish forest | not an ordinary state visit". Queen Elizabeth II ordered a Finnish log cabin, which was build on the Balmoral Estate. Since you mentioned Finnish cowboys: "Finland's infamous Anti-Hero | Puukkojunkkarit or häjyt". A British connection: "Satunnaista sotilashistoriaa Halkokarin kahakka". Cows and horses: "Lehmät pääsevät kesälaitumelle - Ahlman, Tampere | Cows get to the pasture after winter inside" and "Suomen Hippos The Versatile Horse".
