That brought back a lot of memories Geoff 😀 After the demise of the Class 40s, and being London-based, I was able to enjoy the whole fleet of Class 50s - some locos more than others - from 1984 to their demise around 1992. I didn't have video equipment at the time, but I did make a number of tape recordings - many from the front window, some from the platform - using my trusty 'ghetto-blaster' or 'boom box' - and now these recordings can finally be heard on SoundCloud :) I'm currently editing a 1987 rush-hour sequence that features no less than 9 of the class over a half-hour period - those were the days :) By the way - enjoyed your 9min sequence of "Hood" - my machine 😍
Glad you enjoyed the video, especially the Hood section. I think I have more footage of 50 031 than any other Hoover, purely by accident not by design. As a keen military historian and model maker, when I see the Class 50 loco name, I can always picture the ship as well, and the “mighty’ Hood was the most prestigious ship in the Royal Navy for more than 20 years. Good luck with your sound recordings, at least nowadays it’s possibly to get those recordings out there using things like Soundcloud - back in the day you would have to have released a vinyl LP or a Cassette!
I think I only went there once (during the Westerns era) before the HSTs were introduced, but when I was videoing 10 or so years later, I tended to ignore them. 😊👍

What’s best : Sulzer or English Electric? They both have an evocative personification of power!
