- Learn simple DMX Programming using four PAR 64 lights and a Chauvet Obey 40 controller. This is a follow up to the first “How to program DMX lights for beginners” tutorial that explains the basic terms and concepts of DMX.
--These exact lights are no longer available but you can buy similar ones here:
amzn.to/2Mgmpvl
(they have DMX functions like the ones in the video as well as sound active mode and a remote)
You can also buy the Obey 40 Controller and 2 DMX cables here:

Thank you for watching!
Your welcome and thank you again. With what you explained I was able to use that knowledge for the OBEY 70 which has 32 channels per fixture.
Wow..... Thanks for the sound , clearer and understandable tutorial.....with this ,I believe I can be able to start from nowhere to somewhere.
I was thrown into doing lightwork for my mother this weekend and the interface has become a lot clearer now!
I'm putting on rave a want to have my moving heads to piont facing away from the stage to the dance floor moving heads on stage floor a want loads of senses is there any short cuts automode swings everywhere
What a great teacher!
Thanks for taking the time and energy to do these.
You rock Steve!
~ten years later and this is useful still. Thank you!
Ten years?!!! How time flies (but glad it's still helpful)
I learned more from this video than an entire semester of stage tech. Excellent Work!
Thank you SO much!
And there it is, my everfirst understanding of how it works.
Glad it helped!
This is awesome I had no idea this controller can do all of this I was just about to drop $400 and buy the chauvet show X press but I'm so glad I ran across this video because I already own this exact controller!
What you're doing here is taking me from cable wrangler to developing my board op. I'm primarily a multi-instrumentalist/ sound engineer that finally broke into the local crew. With you're navigation tutorials and thought orientation I will be on the road and out of this little town. I'm very happy I stumbled across your class, now I can approach the board I have access to with confidence. I'm on it! Thanks! - CJ
great video very easy step by step simple instructions!! :)
Good video, well explained made it easy to learn basics.
I added DMX lights to my home gym and now my workouts are a lot more fun. Thanks, LearnLizard.
That a great idea! Thanks for sharing and appreciate you watching
How do you fade from scene to scene ?
Hello!I have a DMX 512 and i try to use Tapsync (tap 2 or 3...or 10 times!) but its not working...btw i have a programm copied to chase and i pressed Auto before to use Tapsync but still not workimg.Only works as a Display. Can you help me or its a console ptoblem?
Got my controller today and I learned something. Although I can control where my spider heads point for a scene I cannot automate a movement that’s not built into the device. Like a slow pan. So it seems I need a PC MIDI controller to do more specific needs correct?
Yes that's basically correct, but there is a work around. If you program 2 different scenes into the obey 40, say one with the beams pointed to the left and a second identical scene with the beams pointed to the right, you can program a chase containing those 2 scenes and then use the "Fade Time" fader to set a slow transition and you will get a slow pan. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!
Thank you so much for these tutorials!! I'm getting back into DJing after about a 15 year hiatus and before, DMX was outrageously expensive and not feasible for me to play with... With your help and the prices that have come down, it's GAME ON now! :)
you are the bomb super high five from DJ Rocky AtlantaMusicDJ.com
Amazing tutorials sir..much needed much helpful ;) cheers!
Where were you when I bought this controller a few years ago? I came here just to brush up on the Chase feature, and I'm amazing by how everything was taught.
Ive watched about 5 other videos. Got a rough Concept. But I Finally have a solid understanding watching these and your's are by far the best. Thank you!
Hey mate. My Fade time doesn't seem to work, and it is really annoying me!! haha. Any idea why:?
I have a question that I am finding is not really covered. I am trying to control all of my fixtures using wireless DMX dongles. On my T-bar tower, I will have two moving heads and two Parcans.. The moving heads will be in a slave / master configuration. Here is the question.. can I put all four fixtures on the same DMX string.. Does the Master /Slave have to be one right after the other physically and/or in addresses.. Will the parcans interfere with the Master / Slave configuration if on the same strintg
very new to this and really appreciate the videos. One question I do have is, when it say " the board can handle 12 fixtures" does that mean is can only work with 12 light( or fixtures) total? or does that mean something else?
Forgive me if this is a dumb question but i'm in a three piece band and have five dmx lights, i would like to be able to control them on stage. Is it possible to do this using a tablet? I'm a bit dubious about relying on wifi since it wouldn't be practical for every venue we play at, so would it be doable going from a Tablet micro USB, maybe using a micro USB to USB adapter then through an enttec to the lights? Ideally i could have the tablet on stage and use a footswitch from the enttec to go through the scenes. Any help would be hugely appreciated.
Is there a way to loop a chase? Mine keeps going from chase 1 to chase 2, etc
If you select just one chase, it will loop that chase. If you select more than one, it will cycle through all the ones you have selected. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!
THANK. YOU!!! great help. Might want to get a handle on the sound though. Lots of white noise
subbed since i seen part one, you're great at explaining this!
I don’t like how it automatically goes into blackout mode, it just annoys me especially when I was first starting out
I totally agree- seems like an unnecessary step to always have to take it out of blackout every time you program a scene.
How do you determine the fixtures number like 1/17/33/49
Sup man. I have a scene where I have my CHAUVETS set to a particular Auto-Function. It’s an animation that lights up the dance floor with a bunch of nice colors.
NEXT, I created a Strobe CHASE from a separate bank. The CHASE works great but when I turn off the CHASE it doesn’t default back to my original scene with the Auto-Function.
I have to scroll through the Scene Banks and find the scene and turn it back on. Doing this turns off the lights for a bit of time as I’m fumbling with the controls. /: HELP?
How can I default back to a scene automatically after a CHASE?
Thats a good question. Is the Auto-Function set on the lights or on the controller? If it's on the controller you need to have that turned off to be able to go directly from a Chase select to a Scene selection. Also, if you can program both the Chases and Scenes you want to switch between in Bank 1, it will save time as that bank will already be selected. And if you have a simple MIDI controller you could get instant access to each effect by sending MIDI note data. Hope that helps a little and appreciate you watching!
8 years later and am wondering if we can delete a chase with all the scense?
Of course you can go in and delete chases:
1- go the program mode
2- press and the button for the chase you want to delete.
Note, this will not delete all the scenes in the chase, just the chase.
@@LearnLizard okay and I can delete and scenes right?also thanks for helping me out with the videos and with the comment!
Excelent tutorial, great
Two questions:
1) can transitions be programmed within the chase and between the scenes, (speed and fade).
2) can one set the chase not to loop? Just be executed once
Hi and thanks for the kind words. The Obey 40 is a bit limited with regards to controlling Chases:
1) You can adjust the Speed and Fade Time between scenes with the fader controls, but those settings are not memorized when you store the Chase.
2) There is no option to play a Chase as a "one shot". It will always loop.
Appreciate you watching!
If I have one light channel 1 and another channel 2 start point. If I raise channel 2 in first fixture will the first one be green and the second one be red? (RGB)
I'm wondering why nothing is happening after moving/changing the fadetime during a chase (auto)... Am I missing something?
Try changing the speed so the scenes change every 3 seconds or so. Then put the fade time to 0 and slowly raise it and you should see the effect.
Hope that helps.
Thank you very much!, I am a beginner at programming DMX, and your tutorials have been incredibly helpful.
I’d like to take this opportunity to ask a question: I understand that these controllers don't have a fader to dim the scenes.
Is it possible to program this? For example, I need to transition from a scene with the lights at 100% to one at 50% power with, let´s say, 4 seconds between them.
I've tried creating a chase, but it creates a loop between the scenes, and I need the transition to end when moving from one scene to another.
Again, thank you very much.
Unfortunately the Obey 40 (and similar controllers) can't do what you want with preprogrammed scenes. You could achieve that effect in programming mode, but it would be awkward to do each time.
Software controllers are the great option and a logical next step from the Obey 40 IMHO.
Dude, what a patience you have explaining this. Thank You!
Very good tutorial. I need to repeat this when i buy the dmx in the near future. So far i got 2 static and 2 moving head light.
Thanks for the kind words and good luck programming your light show!
Hi can I add a fade between each scene ?
With this controller the only way you can fade between scenes is to program a Chase (sequence of scenes) and then adjust the fade time with the slider. Hope that helps and thanks for watching
QUESTION - When I am buying my Lighting Controller DMX512, Should it come with the cable to connect the lights into the control system? Or when I buy the lights it should come? ( I really need an answer! Thanks! )
Thanks keep it going really helped me
What about if I want to have a specific scene in the chase to be active longer time than others. Can I program a chase like this: Scene 1, 2, 3, 3, 3, 3, 4 for example?
Yes you can do that-- and thanks for the great tip for making chases with different length scenes!
Can you play chases on demand instead of using the auto button? Like switch between using scenes and chases on demand?
can a Chauvet Obey 40 control a ADJ Mega Flat Pak 8 Plus.. I'm having a real hard time figuring this out. I followed the directions from your first video
I'm having a problem. Can you help? In order to get the lights to work, I have to have channels 4,5, & 6 turned up on the faders. If I turn them down, I get nothing. If I turn them all the way up, the lights will flash and a purple light in the center will come on. After that, I can run them just fine, except that when I change over to another fixture control, I have to turn 4,5,&6 down , then bring them back up again to make the other light work. Why is this doing this to me. I'm using the obey 40 and ADJ Mega Par profile Plus LED wash fixtures.
Hi Steve... thanks for your videos... I am a real beginner (& an old fart) & I bought a couple of 40" Rockville dmx light bars to experiment lighting to get a slow LED pattern effect (left to right).... Your videos focus on spot lights but it isn't very intuitive for me to understand how the dmx programming you describe translates to a light bar. The bars have a few preprogrammed effects but it would be nice to be able to program the lighting effects I want. also purchased a Rockville 192 dmx controller but the directions did not seem to relate much to light bars. Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated. Gary
Hi- If you want to take the time to program them, those Rockville Bars have a lot of DMX control when they are set to 28 Channel Mode. The basic idea of DMX is that you can send controls to adjust whatever parameter the manufacturer has built into its design. For example, on Channel 28 of your bar, you can put it in Chase mode (values of 1-13) or 4 different Sound Modes depending on the values. You can also control the colors, strobing, etc. on the different channels. The Rockville 192 is somewhat similar to the Obey 40 and pretty basic to set up a scene. Good luck and thanks for watching!
how do you control scenes with a fader on a DMX512 192 channel controller?
Basically I want to be able to fade between my scenes manually, and not with a chase or a button. I know some dmx controllers can do this by creating "groups" that act as scenes. I have only really used a Soundcraft Si Performer 3 (I know its a sound desk, but has DMX output) and even though it had limited dmx functionality, you could still create groups to be controlled by a fader.
Am I missing something obvious? cause I can't find a single video of someone using a DMX512 192 controller and controlling scenes with a fader.
Would I be better off using a DMX usb interface instead?
Yeah, with the Obey 40 you can't manually fade between programmed scenes (which would be a great feature) Software controllers offer so many more ways to set up and control your lights. Check out what you can do with an inexpensive app on an iPad and some simple USB MIDI controllers: ruclips.net/video/cXkpn6teBpY/видео.html
Teaching is an art by itself and you nail it!
you're the first person I've found that I can understand. I was one of the first guys to run I beams and track spots and that was like nothing compared to dmx. dmx is like common core math. it doesn't seem intuitive at dll. I learned how to program the original intelligent lighting in like 10 minutes
Glad the video helped. Yeah, DMX doesn't make a lot of intuitive sense at first- but that fact has helped me get lots of views on this channel haha! Appreciate you watching (and interesting to know about DMX's predecessors)
Thank you so much for the tutorial. We are connecting lights on top of a metal bar for church lighting, but didn’t want to keep the lights on the whole time during the week. If we turn all the lights off, would we have to re-program the lights all over?
Thankfully, every light I've worked with retains its settings in memory even when the power is turned off. I believe that is the norm. (but you might want to check with your lights to be sure) Appreciate you watching this one!
Hi Steve. Great video. I'm having some trouble trying to link a couple of LED pars and Chauvet Colorpalettes togther, I'm using a simple Obey3 controller.Just trying to get them to go thru the same color patterns in sync. Got any advice?
+CRUZITO1980
Hi- If you set all the fixtures to the same starting address they will all operate in exact sync, however the colors may not match. I would put similar fixtures on the same addresses, then program scenes where the colors match. That should keep everything in sync. Thanks for the positive comment, and good luck!
I have the Obey 10, which doesn't have Scene buttons. Do you have any videos on how to program that particular board?
I have problem: fade time is not working, what can I do??
Great, thank you. Very understandable and clear.
Appreciate you watching!
@@LearnLizard Appreciate your explaining! :-)
Please help me if I have 3 bem mowing head light and 6 dmx how many fixueres I need ? I have mixer jester 24ml
Hi- I'm not sure if I understand your question. The Obey 40 will control up to 12 different fixtures (or lights) with each light having as many as 16 DMX channels. So as long as your setup fits with those limitations you will have complete control. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!
Hi Lizard would you please make video about Pilot 2000 using please thank you
Thanks for the suggestion. That controller looks like it has some great features. Appreciate you watching!
Is all that NOISE coming from the lights?
Can you help me? I have my lights programmed at 1, and 17 but when I click of the first fixture, to turn on the second fixture, the first fixture turns off.
It sounds like you are not in in "Program" mode. Try holding down the "Program" button for 3 seconds until the little light begins flashing in the display. Now the look that you set on your first fixture should stay intact when you go to your second fixture. Hope that helps and appreciate you watching!
Steve... You Are THE MAN! Best programming video EVER!
Thanks so much and appreciate you watching!
I just bought the Obey 10. Your tutorial will be very helpful. Thank you.
How do I save the DMX adresses to the fixtures? I click the 4th button on my fixtures and hold it for 5 seconds but when I unplug it I don't know how to get back to what I saved?
+Megan Crawford
Hi- Different fixtures use different ways of setting (and remembering) the addresses they have been assigned. What fixture are you using that won't save?
I’ve watched several of your tutorials and they are the best I’ve found so far. I’m now getting my controller and am going to start the programming process,so I’ll be going back through all of your videos. I appreciate that you have taken the time and effort to share your knowledge in such a clear and concise fashion. I hope all is well with you and yours in these crazy times.
I really appreciate such a supportive and positive comment, and thanks for watching my videos. Good luck with your new rig and hope the programming goes well!
Hi,
Do I have to program the lights every time I plug them in? Example, I have an activity today and I programmed the lights and finish the activity...then I have another gig tomorrow...Do I have to do it all over again?
Nope- Thankfully all the scenes and chases you program are stored into memory and are there the next time you turn it on. Thanks for watching!
Just got this controller I have made 8 scenes but when it’s show time how do u get it to fade between screens not just jump to the next one ( the fade time and speed faders don’t seem to work)
Good Job! Very Helpful! Thanks for taking the time.
Does the Obey controller allow you to set fades between scenes? how is this done?
How do I setup 12 fixtures all of same color to stay for one scene and have 12 fixtures all same color chase on different scene ?Best explaining tutorial I tried .
+DANIEL VITALO
Hi- Thanks for your kind comment. Scenes and Chases are different functions on the Obey 40. You could program a scene where all your fixtures are the same color and make that the first scene in your chase. That might achieve the effect you are looking for. Good luck and thanks for watching!
Oh nice. you've made the video even better than your first time round. The editing is better with the overlays of the buttons you are pressing. Next, audio through a clip on mic :) good job.
Thanks for the kind words! This video is a couple years old. My more recent ones hopefully have better audio (I got a clip on mic just like you recommend)
hi Steve, can you add fixtures into a previously programmed scene ( like an overlay) or would it be an independent
scene & have to run in the chase my idea is to have a blackout then with scanners running add par64's pulsing & so on until the full light show is on.
Thats a good question. With the Obey 40 controller you can't "layer" scenes. So each fixture that you add into your scene would actually have to be a completely new scene.
With software controllers (like Vibrio for the iPad) you can layer scenes. Here's a video that shows how: ruclips.net/video/6TU_2ViTXCQ/видео.html Appreciate you watching!
Best DMX teacher 👍thanks from Germany
Thanks for watching! (from California)
The reason that fixture 2 starts at the address of d17 is because there are 8 faders on 2 pages, or a total of 16 faders per fixture. Add 16+1 and you get 17. Therefore the fixture addresses coincide with the 16 faders because each fader has an "address". Your welcome.
Amen!
Watched several vids and still isn't clear: does the transition time slider also controls transition time when you switch the scenes manually?
HELLO FROM ISLA MUJERES QUINTANA ROO MEXICO
HI! may I ask if the unit has a battery on board? I read some comments that it has no battery so when the power is lost all the saved programs will be lost.
There is no battery but the settings are saved into the internal memory of the device. Appreciate you watching.
Thank you so much for posting your videos. The tutorials you share are very, very helpful. I'm new to learning DMX lighting and am thinking about purchasing the Obey 40 for our band. I think it will run most of the lights we have, but am not 100% sure. (We have 2 - 4bar Chauvet light bars - 15dmx channel option; and 2-6spot Chauvet light bars - 8dmx channel for FOH (we would use the same lighting assignments on the both sides of stage); and 1 gigbar2 Chauvet with 11dmx or 23dmx channels for backlighting. I assume I'd use the 11dmx channel setting on the gigbar2 since the Obey40 can run up to 16 channels is that correct? - Another question I have is (and apologies if it's a more basic question), can the Obey 40 fade out and/or in auto scenes for the start or end of songs? I assume it has this capability with some sort of master fader, but thought I read online somewhere that it only works when in manual mode. The Obey 40 looks like a nice option. We aren't looking for anything too complicated, but are trying to determine a good controller option. (Note: along with the lights above, we have a Chauvet color-band 12 lightbar that I think runs on 8dmx channels that we'll likely try to use for back lighting along with the gigbar2.) Any advice you can give will be much appreciated. Thanks again for the videos.
Appreciate the kind word and sounds like you have a nice lighting rig! The Obey 40 is a solid workhorse controller that will control 12 different lights independently - each one up to 12 channels (as you mention) Unfortunately you can't manually fade between scenes. (only between preprogrammed chases) To be honest, I would recommend looking into a software controller for maximizing the capability of all your cool lights. There are lots of good ones for both tablets and computers and some are free. (you just need to invest in an interface and the time to learn how they work) Appreciate you watching!
@@LearnLizard Thanks so much for the info. I'll look into the software controllers. So, just so I understand DMX... my 4bar has 4 lights in on "unit/figure". The entire bar can be controlled by 15 DMX channels. I assumed I could just use fixture 1 on the Obey 40 for running all four lights correct? - I know some lights are single lights. Easy to understand fixture to light dmx channeling guides. But when it is a bar with 4 lights in one contained unit, I assume the "fixture" on the Obey 40 runs all 15 channels within that bar; which are all 4 lights on the 4bar: (channel 2 - dimmer; 4-6 red/green/blue light 1, 7-9 red/green/blue light 2, etc...) etc. - This "fixture" and light bar issue has been my nemesis all along. Just trying to even confirm how I'd set it up should we go with an Obey 40. Thanks again.
Thank you Mister “Chauvet”, you are da bomb !
Thanks for watching! (definitely like Chauvet controllers - and hazers)
I’ve learned a lot watching your channel. Thanks for the great videos. I have a question for you since talking directly to Chauvet they were no help. I’m working with a disabled population and they sometimes do not stand in the center of the stage where I have a spot. Thinking about purchasing a DMX controller, and also another light. When they stand in the center it’s great, but if they go off of center we can’t see them. What kind of light would you recommend to light the entire stage when that happens, or just purchase the controller and when that happens, hit the program that lights up all lights so no matter where they are at we can see them. I’m looking at a Chauvet Slim Par T6BT with a Obey 6 controller. Your thoughts? Thanks in advance!
Hi- In general, PAR lights will light up a wider area of a stage than more focused beam lights. You could program a Scene on the Obey 6 for either a spot or a PAR stage center, then program a second scene that is stage left, 3rd scene stage right, 4th scene full stage. Then you could "follow" your subject depending on where they are by selecting the appropriate scene. There are many other ways you could do it, but this would be a simple solution. Thanks for watching!
@@LearnLizard thanks that is a great idea! I knew you would think of something! I wish I could post our Christmas show but I’d get hit with copyright issues since they are all doing popular songs! So proud of them! Thanks so much for sharing your videos and knowledge
Going to try this tomorrow and wondered if you have ever tried this? I have a Chauvet DMX and I can’t save anything on it, however I’m wondering if I can do this. I want my light in the middle to remain on, lights on left and right I’ll put in a auto chase mode. Then with all 3 lights selected can I control the speed and fade times? I had a guy that was going to help me with my lights this Saturday and he’s backed out, so I’m trying to figure out a way to have some kind of light show while I’m performing without having to do too much. Any suggestions? I know I can use the sound activation, but I don’t really like that look. You’re the best by the way!
Thanks for the kind words! The Obey 40 is pretty basic when it comes to programming, but if you created a series of scenes where each one had the center light on, and the right and left lights in different variations and then created a Chase out of those scenes, I think you would achieve the look you are going for. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!
@@LearnLizard that's exactly what I did! I programmed the middle light to solid white and then had lights left and right on a auto chase that I would control speed it worked perfectly

Exactly what i was looking for in order to hit the ground running. Many thanks for creating and sharing. May i make a request for future lessons; can you please show an example which includes a fog machine and lights?

Thanks for the nice comment! I just posted a new video on programming a laser (simple lesson)
I love your tutorials - no fuss just straight to the nub of the subject - clear and refreshingly simple to follow. Please keep them coming LL.
How would you set up an LED smoke machine with this? ie, if I wanted Scene 1 to be a Orange LED with smoke?
sir i have different company light what programming code should i gave to them
I really like your video tutorial, I have chauvet obey 70 which I think it's similar to obey 40 except that mine has a joystick that I can use for moving heads. I see that on the end of your video in 10:19 you have the effect that I would like to create on mine obey 70. As a matter of fact, I would like to create the same effect as it was created on the video I am attaching here by using chauvet ShowExpress, here is the link ruclips.net/video/xw-SZ8VPCmI/видео.html so my question is can I do that exact thing on my chauvet obey 70 ? can I have this one light chasing another ?
I just want to say thank you so much for this tutorial. You did an excellent job. I’m doing a show coming up but I do have one question. I’m having a hard time getting the chase to work and sometimes setting the scenes. Do I press program first and then press scene one buttonor do I press one button first and then program and then move the lights… If you can help out that would be amazing you’ve already been so much help. I’ve been watching all your videos and people like you really make the world a better place, thank you so much.
Thanks for all the nice words! Here's the steps for creating a chase:
1. Enter Program mode.
2. Press a chase button to select the chase to be created.
3. Use the bank buttons and the scene buttons to locate the scene that will be saved as a step in the chase. The LCD display shows the current bank just above the word Bank.
4. Press two times to save the scene into a step.
5. Repeat steps 3-4 to add more scenes into steps,or steps 2-4 to add more chases.
6. Exit Program mode.
7. Reset faders to 0 and deactivate blackout.
@@LearnLizard thank you so much. I know you did explain that in the video but it’s easier reading it on paper the way you say it I appreciate it and the party is going to be amazing Thanks to you. Have a blessed day and I will definitely be using your other tutorials for future references
What would happen if you changed fixture 2 to address 5 rather than 17 - would it then be controlled with slider 5 onwards ?
So if you were to turn the power off and let’s say you go to your next gig location, does that mean you have to pre set all the scenes all over again or does it stay within the console?
Thankfully all the programming data gets saved in the memory!
Were having a gymnastic show with 5 scenes. The time between the scenes are not fix, it can be longer or shorter. What is the best way to program a chase of 5 scenes and simple jump to the next scene when the gymnastics are at the right place? Thanks, best regards Ivar from Norway
Thanks for the quick lesson...no need for me to read hair wrenching Chinese manual.
Glad to help- and I agree, some of those manuals can be pretty confusing!!
I need to know how to turn the DMX light display as I’m hanging my lights upside down
Lots of light have an "invert display" or similar setting in their menu functions. Look for that.
Thanks sir.. your explanation is so easy and clear than other..
You are most welcome
tks for your videos. a question. how to reset the dmx 512 to factory settings. is that posible. i delete scenes but now i cant find the chases 1 3 4 5 6 only can c chase 2 @.@ pretty much wanna reset all to factory settings. is there a way !
Sure- Turn the board off and then press and hold the "Bank Up" and "Auto/Del" together at the same time. Keep holding them down while you turn the board back on and you will see the LCD display flash. (this can take up to 30 seconds) This will erase all the scenes and chases and return everything to the factory settings. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!
what if I have more than 12 fixtures??? will the obey 40 still work?
I do not speak English, and it is the video where I have better understood the operation of the DMX table. Thank you
How would this work with a Kam Par Bar Mk 3 with 4 lamps per rig? I have 2 rigs.
That rig has 15 DMX channels. For example the first channel selects different run functions. You would program the Obey 40 the same way by selecting the desired run with the first fader then saving it as a scene. Same for the other 14 channels. Hope that helps and thanks for watching...
