'Genuine leather' doesn't imply what many people think. It may range from mid-grain leather to leather scraps bonded together by glue. It is no guarantee of quality. In fact, it implies the lowest possible non-synthetic material.
Leather terms aren't regulated, so even "full grain" or "top grain" can mean anything. If you want the highest quality, look for manufacturers that name the tanneries that they source leather from.
Terrific find! Love the colour scheme you picked as well. Also a really refreshing review outside of all the “top 10 best/worst watches of 2023” everyone else is doing (enjoy watching those as well no doubt). Thanks and merry Christmas!
I'm over in Nagoya, and I'm a big quartz fan. I just ordered the tan version off Rakuten. Both Rakuten and Amazon indicate that it's an export model, so it'll take a while to arrive and there's no tracking. Thanks for pointing out this hidden gem, as I haven't seen it in any shops.
Hey Dave, same here, going down Casio rabbit hole. For this one, only green and grey available in Canada for $113-122 Cdn. Really like this field watch style. Thanks for the great videos!
I own a few Casios and I like the brand. I own a LOT more Timex (probably 30+) but I do like this particular Casio. Timex Indiglo makes most of their cheaper field watches more appealing IMO but I definitely like this particular offering from Casio.
Cool find, thanks for sharing - can't find it in German shops. I also found a Casio (Edifice) I never saw reviewed anywhere before and it is a really nice everyday analog quartz watch: EF-121. Well finished 40mm steel case with a unique shape, Explorer-style black honeycomb dial, 24 hrs chapter ring, decent lume, 10 year battery, also a strap monster., currently about 85 EUR.
Great review as usual, keep up the good work! I found another watch that offers very good value in that same category, the Fossil Defender 40 mm. Readily available at around 100 $ and less, classic field watch design, solar Japanese movement, mineral crystal, 100 m water resistance and a decent quality leather strap that doesn't need to be changed out immediately. Even signed crown and screw-down caseback. You should definitely check that one out if you can, it's better than this Casio at a comparable price point.
I bought this model last year or 2 years ago. Definitely not the most popular casio watch. The store I bought it from had all the colors available. Lol. This model help me scratch my itch. It didn't even realize that this was supposed to be a frield watch XD. I got a nice watch without breaking the bank !
Just the review I needed! I had spotted this watch on Amazon but could not find any further information. I really like the styling, so even with its flaws I'd buy one. That black & blue model seems to have a bracelet, so maybe it'll be best to get that one if the price does not increase. Merry Christmas Dave!!
I'm from Poland, and I can confirm, that watches from this series are available in polish online watch shops. Not many, though, so it seems like it's not very popular model. The price checks out - after calculating polish PLN to USD it's still around 100 USD. The watch seems to be an interesting attempt, but honestly I doubt if it can be viable alternative to similar, cheap field watches. For example, Timex has a whole, large line of "Expedition" field watches with similar pricing, and even if they're slightly more expensive, they already come with solid NATO straps, full-dial indiglo illumination and so on. So for me this watch seems to be more of a curiosity, maybe something for hard-core Casio fans. Personally, I wouldn't buy it. And if I was living in Japan, I would be all over Oceanuses and Albas, instead😄 Merry Christmas!🎄
@@MaximusPanin Thanks to your comment I've revisited this post, and now I realized RUclips REMOVED my other comment, in which I was dropping some names of sites (mostly polish), where you can buy these watches. What's truly infuriating, these weren't even full links (just names without site address extension)... I realize, it's supposed to be protection against spam and malware, but this is ridiculous. Right now, you can't even help someone out, as YT will automatically delete the comment without any notice🙄 So, let's just say I've seen these watches available in some places for even as low as around 75 USD...
@@JanKowalski-rd7yb Don’t be upset, some channels have the “publish comments after checking” option enabled; perhaps the channel author has not checked the comments yet. Hello Braniewo, Elbląg, Gdansk, Sopot, Gdynia, Wegorzewo, I have been there, but have not yet processed the video.
I find myself searching Amazon Japan often as well. Thankfully most models can’t be shipped to the US. But the ones that can typically arrive in two days. A lot of local orders take longer and aren’t as well packaged.
I like it. I think the price is just a little high. It being stainless its actually not to bad price wise. I just did an accuracy experiment on all my non atomic Casios that I finished today. I set them all to one of my atomics on Nov. 25 and today I checked them. out of the 15 watches only four were greater than +/- 10 seconds and the one that was the furtherest out was an f91w at +17 and the least was also an F91w which was dead on. There were 5 Gshocks included in that and three were under +/- 4 and one the DW-5600 was +11. All were well within their standard which is the non g's +/- 30 and the G's +/- 15. Fantastic watches, I know why you have a bunch, I do too. Lol
This is in my opinion one of the best looking Casio watches on the market. When i saw it for the first time I was in love, the case, the dial, the hands, everything was perfect but I was really disappointed when I realized it had a press-on case back and only 50m of WR which I think is not enough for a field watch, especially the press-on case back. Honestly, I think it is the major drawback for most people, press-on case backs are meant for dress watches and not for supposedly rugged field watches. If Casio ever decides to re-release these with proper specs I am all in.
Purchased this one only due to this video several months back!!! Love it, could only find it in black and green, would love to find it in tan and black. Guess green and black and the Gray one are only for the U.S. market??
Casio offers so much more value in the Duro MDV-106. Although this is a very nice looking watch, it's lacking a little in specs for the price. No screw down crown or caseback like in the Duro. And 50m water resistance vs. 200m. Casio set it's own bar too high. 😁 Great looker though. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Casio makes great field watches. The only problem that people have with them is that some think that they are chep watches, but they are actually great quality for the money.
Looks nice...but Addiesdive with the Seiko VH31 mecaquartz + sapphire glass + awesome bracelet and clasp and for 3/4 of the Casios price is a no brainer :)
Good to see. I picked one of these up in green around 6 months ago in the UK. I think I paid around £50 for it. It’s very nice and unusual being metal, as you say. Kind of pleased it’s discontinued as that will make it less common. I haven’t seen another one being worn yet.
Nice looking watch, but as you said it is very expensive. I have looked online and they don’t appear to be available here in England, and it’s £92.44 for a US import 😮
Love the looks of the MTP-E715C-3AV but have no idea what style it is. It’s kind of a field watch but not really. The 10 year battery is a great thing but why print it on the face, that’s my only complaints. Colour is great and the brushed AND polished finish is fantastic. Bought mine 11 months ago, importing it from Japan for about $90 including import fees and taxes.
These are very nice, and are on my short list! Have a Merry Christmas! I found them on Amazon last year USA, I just need to choose the one I like best!
I like it… But I’d like it more if G-Shock would make watches like this that you can wear on your right wrist,.. because I’m left handed. And I’d like that turning crown to be on the left side of the watch. Just saying.
Looks quite good. I didn't notice it was a Casio in the thumbnail and was surprised to find out it was a Casio. I might actually like to own one of these. Happy Holiday's! Many blessings to you and yours!! I clearly don't read video titles LOL.

Always go with "full grain leather" , Genuine leather sucks
@@gorrthegod thank you, i didnt know about full grain leather! 🙂
Its a discrete grading system where even the lowest sounds impressive to those not in the know. Truly a case of lobbying at its finest.

Especially the Edifice line has watches where the second hand hits the markers
I really like this watch. Just the right size with tons of 22mm strap options. Thanks for the video.

“10 year battery” kills it for me
Oooo... I love coming across a Casio i haven't seen before 😅
I like how this watch reminds me of a Bell & Ross but still looks like it's own thing.
I thought the same
I appreciate you doing the strap options segment.

Very pretty watch, simple, elegant.
Reminds me a little of Bell & Ross. Not bad. Would've probably gone for that one on canvas NATO style strap in green/black.
I have Casio Forester FT-500 in black with the velcro strap and it's a great outdoor beater watch.
One thing i like to do to this, change the glass to a sapphire, also nato strap two coolors (black & cream).

I really appreciate a thin watch. This one looks good, too. A little plain but it is a field watch.

Black & green with the green strap👌
Can’t find this watch anywhere. It’s beautiful!!!
Merry Christmas to you and your family
Nice field watch slim and Casio perfect watch for me at this price range.
Nice looking watch. Enjoy! Blessings for Christmas and 2024, Dave.
I think its beautiful with a stainless steel black bracelet
I think the value comes if you love the design, since I just picked up a Bluetooth casioak for $120.
Damn it, now this is on my radar.
Hola , en Amazon México solo he visto solo el verde , está arriba de los US $100.00
Merry Christmas!
If only it had a day-date feature!
Damn, I really like this watch, but a few attempts at looking for it on Amazon Spain returned no results… Great review as usual! Cheers! //Rick
Let us know if you have a link to this particular colorway with the khaki hands…I can’t find it on Amazon USA.
Strong aircraft instruments vibe here with this watch.
6:49 - that black strap with SS buckle provokes by OCD . . . should have been a black buckle
2:17 any info on the wrist size here?
I think the tan is only available in Japan, hard to find in the US
Looks nice...but Addiesdive with the Seiko VH31 mecaquartz + sapphire glass + awesome bracelet and clasp and for 3/4 of the Casios price is a no brainer :)
Nice one priest. Thanks for the recommendation.
thanks for the reiview........a tan perlon or nato would work well.
If it had backlight like Casio Forester,i would gladly consider to buy this watch
A field watch you have to take off when you do the dishes?
Good to see. I picked one of these up in green around 6 months ago in the UK. I think I paid around £50 for it.
It’s very nice and unusual being metal, as you say.

Great review Dave! Currently unavailable in europe or at least in Italy. This watch gives me of BOLDR watch vibes.
It’s a nice watch, but definitely one for the Casio Fans. Thanks for the great review!
6" wrist is the reason I can't have nice things. Great find tho! Thanks for showing the watch on different straps
Have a look at the women's section. And I don't mean that tiny ones you need a magnifying glass to see. Some vintage stuff is smaller also.
I hope they make a chronograph version of this watch.
Dang this watch sure looks good!
I think US$60 would be spot-on. US$100 is definitely too much.
The case shape kind of reminds me of a FP Journe quartz.
Nice looking watch, but as you said it is very expensive. I have looked online and they don’t appear to be available here in England, and it’s £92.44 for a US import 😮
Mad respect to all the G Shocks. But this is my kind of Casio. Strap! Zilla!!
Never seen that on Canadian Amazon. Cool looking watch. Wiah it had more Water Resistance though.
This watch looks like it'd be fun to wear.
Love the hoodie but not on on the site !!
Seems a bit wierd that they go to the trouble of making the case out of Stainless steel & then only do a version in black pv coating ??
Coating is cheaper than nice finishing on bare steel.
... It may also appeal to the "tactical" aesthetic, and it is nice to look at your watch outdoors and not get dazzled by reflected sunlight
Love it. Might have to order one right now 🤣
Try the black Milanese 22mm strap from wristology. I think it would look great with this watch.
I would love to know how to get hands on the Black-and-Tan Version of the Casio MTP-E715L-5AV in Germany?
it should have a backlit Lume like indiglo of TImex .
Here in Serbia the price is around 90 dollars.
I wish this was smaller at 46mm L2L and had 20mm lug width.
I like it but in the UK very hard to source one tbh...
With lumed Arabics, this would be an instant pickup for me.
Cool watch 👍
I think saying that it has a Timex look and feel hits it on the head.
Definitely a shy nod to Bell & Ross in there.
Looks great…! 😃
OMG,Casio is the Tesla EV vs ICE mechanical complicated watches. That’s a nice Pilot watch
cant be found in amazon spain
Love the looks of the MTP-E715C-3AV but have no idea what style it is. It’s kind of a field watch but not really.

Colour is great and the brushed AND polished finish is fantastic.

Lovely!
I worry more about the toughness of the coating than the mineral. If i scratch bare stainless at least it doesnt expose a different colour underneath.
Watch looks nice
I go with the forester instead.
Looks nice, bbut a buy at 50 bucks tops.
These are very nice, and are on my short list! Have a Merry Christmas!
I found them on Amazon last year USA, I just need to choose the one I like best!
Bertucci? NAME OF MOVEMENT?

the BRAUN watch from Casio :))
It is time for Casio to enter in automatic watch segment with similar kind of designs...
$84 here in the USA.

I clearly don't read video titles LOL.
I actually like this watch, but the total lack of dial lume is kind of a deal-breaker for me. Too bad, as Casio got a lot right on this one.
Fun fact, south Asian-Pacific country is casio no.1 in Asian 👍😎👍
Wow!
